the interesting thing about corbeau and lysandre is that it gives a concrete example of something we'd been told repeatedly but not really seen. namely that lysandre had been a huge philanthropist before becoming so nihilistic. we finally see his philanthropy: helping a homeless orphan child with food, shelter, etc and setting him up for a good life.

its also interesting because now we finally have another person besides sycamore who's blindsided by lysandre creating team flare. both sycamore and corbeau were people who saw the good in lysandre more personally and up close than others and to see him go from that to team flares boss shocks them.
