tw for mention SI + SUI. this is a tiny thought i've been having about the doomed yuri that is apple and raven
this might just be depressed overthinking but the more i think about the way apple white effectively romanticizes being the victim of an assassination attempt and wants raven specifically to be the one responsible for it, the more i think she suffers from suicidal ideation and wants raven to no longer make it ideation.
defending lenore’s spectre. this was gonna be a reblog but it became so long that i figured it should be its own post. please don’t start wars!
i think the idea that it’s a design based on things one just feels like is cool, not a design mainly based on thought isn’t saying much since i feel like that can be applied to most if not every spectre we’ve seen.
berenice wears a minidress with a bunch of cut outs and fishnet tights
montresor literally has his abs out and has piercings on his nipples
duke’s whole jester look having the chest belts
even arguably the heart shaped hole in annabel’s chest (not to mention the recent panels of her lmao)
lenore’s is actually less, for lack of a better term, fanservicey / gratuitous than those, especially considering there hasn’t been any special emphasis she gets on particular elements, nor additional detail or lack thereof which is in keeping with the rest of the cast. also, the design was gonna be something the creators like no matter what the lore was.
on the contrary, it's not like lenore’s spectre is an exception when it comes to design principles, symbolism and how much of the story was taken into account. aside from the clever detail of there being a chance Bloody Mary shows you a skull to hint that you will die before you get married and a lady in red being a jilted lover (which has been wonderfully detailed by @royallyturbulentmist in this post!)
like many of them it reflects how she died (shot in the head while meant to be the groom to annabel’s wife, so there’s a crack where she was shot with an inner cavity similar to annabel’s one in her chest, plus the red crystal halo that points to the wound and signifies the direction of blood splatter, matching the red crystal dangling in the center of annabel, and the clothes being more or less the same just loosely modified like annabel’s wedding dress, the blood on the top coming from embracing her).
who she was before she died (she used to have long hair before she cut it off in pursuit of being with annabel, and the scissor-ish blades also fit with that as that's what she used to do that before looking in the mirror—which can be said to show futures—and burning the building down. in the last section of the wikipedia on it, the bloody mary may be named after women who burnt people/got burnt at the stake, which can be symbolic of madness perceived or not). side note i don’t like the idea that it clashes with her androgyny or how she presents her appearance gender-wise, long hair isn’t inherently feminine and can be seen as masculine. additionally that wasn’t the primary reason her hair was cut or why she styled herself the way she did, it was to pass as a man for the aforementioned goal. she was never shown having a problem with the dresses she wore in life and even wore some feminine stuff in dreamland. there’s also how it makes her not resemble theo, which was actually on purpose.
and the emotions she felt as she died (annabel can be said to have died feeling grief, and has a giant hole in her chest where her heart was alluding to lost and unfulfilled love. lenore died feeling vengeful, and her seemingly hollow head and bloodied eyes means she’s “seeing red” i.e cannot see reason anymore, as well as bringing to mind the phrases “blood for blood”, “blood feud” and so on. there’s also how blood is not just associated with death, but it’s also a sign of being warm and alive. obviously no one at nevermore that isn’t named pluto wanted to die, but lenore clearly had a strong will to live and keep fighting as well as has some fire imagery. note how annabel is chronically cold in her spectre form just like a corpse, and had very little resolve in their final moments). the other spectres can have just as many things about them inferred.
also i get that it gives creepypasta (which i dont see the problem with), but:
she’s a Bloody Mary, a figure from an old horror legend portrayed a lot as being, well, bloody, and creepypasta are essentially just horror legends but from the internet. they fundamentally have the same tropes, it was kinda inevitable.
a gunshot to the head damages blood vessels which are also in your eyes and i can’t think of another way other than more broken glass-like cracks on the forehead to imply the head wound.
a quick search shows that red eyes really aren’t that common in creepypasta characters. plus, the story is already dark and horror-adjacent to begin with, a few elements that come off as “edgy” are to be expected, this isn’t even the first nor will it be the last lol.
edgy things are a guilty pleasure for me i can’t lie lmao, don’t kill me pls
and on whether or not it’s monstery enough, annabel, morella, eulalie and duke all have pretty human-like spectres or designs, along with to a lesser extent monty, prospero and berenice. that’s most members of the main cast already. the Bloody Mary is ultimately just a ghost woman, and most ghosts will resemble people with extra sauce for self explanatory reasons.
i also think some of this has to do with the fact that lenore was for so long the only one without a spectre, which led to tons of speculation on what it would it be, combined with stretched out pacing made it so that it would likely never match the reality of what the creators had in mind.
unless you get deep in theorizing (like me admittedly lmao), was there really ever an indication that her spectre would warrant any more significance than other spectre reveals? if annabel’s was revealed to us much later and lenore’s revealed first i think people would've also gave hers more scrutiny (i had to go back and check to see how detailed annabel’s dress was, it has nothing other than some frills at the ends guys lol). the expectation of more elements related to ravens might also have been from this. beyond the subject being mourned in the poem "the raven" being all but stated to be the same lenore in the poem "lenore" both that lenore and this lenore didn't have a tie to ravens the way pluto has a tie to black cats.
i admit that i'm heavily biased in favor of defending her spectre. that being said within what the story’s identity is it serves its purpose pretty well.
addendum - as someone mentioned, her blades not only reference the scissors she used to cut her hair, but also the raven wings in the series' logo and slightly resemble her wheelchair, and this can be seen as turning what gave her hardship into a mode of revenge seeking!
wow clever way to include the raven wings in the logo without actually giving her wings. also of course it was a lady in red it was so obvious that i kinda doubted it now i feel like fool 🥀
as of yesterday’s / today’s (free not fast pass) episode Lenore’s spectre reveal is upon us so put your final guesses on what it’ll be here pls the poll is set to close in a week. feel free to give more details in comments!! i still think it’ll be a Phoenix or at minimum have some life giving fire-related ability to contrast Annabel, im not sure about it being benevolent though that’s now iffy for me but i wouldn’t be shocked if it was.
i cant end the poll but damn GG i guess, congrats to everyone who picked the obvious option and didn't think too hard like me lmao, rip my ultimate nevermore theory

does anyone have any theories or ideas for what the cast did to become criminals and thus go on bet and forgive??? like isn’t sailor only 17 the hell did he do 😭
what i think the zodiac signs of nevermore characters are
disclaimer - not saying anyone born on this or that acts like x or y, astrology is simply my special interest and i treat them as archetypes!
lenore: it's non-negotiable that lenore is a fire sign, and i've narrowed it down to aries. i debated between her being a sagittarius but i think the deciding factor that makes her an aries is that she puts her energy and passion into short term, spur of the moment goals rather than a long term, this is my life's purpose style one, and also how aries is a sign oriented towards the self while sagittarius is oriented towards the world. that might not make sense cuz of how often lenore is willing to die for others is, but the key thing to remember is that it stems from self-interest; her self-sacrificial tendencies come from her impulses, what she feels that she has to do. outside of that, when i say "short term goals" i mean things like literally burning her old life away out of a want to be with annabel. that not only does that fit how aries prioritizes fighting for their life but also how they can be so committed yet inconsiderate of consequences.
annabel: if lenore is fire, than annabel is obligated to be water. between cancer and pisces scorpio is the one that suits her the best. scorpio is defined by a love-hate relationship with emotional permanence and vulnerability, and annabel is externally cold and distant while being rather dysfunctional in secret. it has taken her very long to open up to others that aren't named lenore since trusting others would make them more of a threat to her, not the other way around.
duke: another fire sign, this time a leo! i know that it can seem like any character with an ego and rizz can be called a leo, but that's because the main part of leo is the ability to uplift others through their own confidence and that is very accurate to duke. he's assured in himself all the time regardless of whether the risk he's taking is concerningly high, including when he died despite what happened to him then being more than enough justification to lose it. even when he was in dreamland, he was still kept himself together just so lenore wouldn't beat himself up over him.
pluto: i think he's an aquarius. this also would further enforce how he can serve as a foil to duke as aquarius is the opposite of leo—leo cares a lot about how others see them while aquarius couldn't care less. at the core of aquarius is challenging conventional thinking, and his spectre was described taking form due to a desire to escape societal norms! pluto can be soft-spoken, but he is not spineless and speaks his mind, notably from what i can remember to his father, montresor and recently duke. (side note i realized just now: aquarius is called the water bearer but is an air sign cuz they dont want to get their hands wet, and pluto is afraid of water. hehe im so clever give me kudos /j)
eulalie: her being a pisces is so obvious but i'm still gonna tryto explain why and to make it interesting i'm gonna use how she died, which was while singing to children in a building burning down. you can get the basic idea of how the water signs express their emotions based on their symbols: cancer hides and shields themselves, scorpio attacks back so they don't get attacked first and pisces simply swims away. eulalie could have seeked solace for herself or lashed out in some way, which would've all been understandable reactions, but instead she seemed to accept it and chose to comfort them all which says a lot about her nature.
berenice: she's a taurus. taurus is about safety, and that sense of safety comes from accepting and indulging in what life has to offer to you, as well as feeling like that's too much to lose. i feel that berenice has a habit of wanting to take the easy way out, but the kicker for me is the flashback we got of her before she got killed. her life as being a paramour and getting to attend fancy parties was all fine and dandy until she was kicked out, then she was desperate for it to not end, so her sense of stability was pretty much shattered then. also worth noting is how much she struggles with the deal about killing lenore with that knife and entirely pinned the blame over lenore trying to sacrifice herself on morella while she did nothing.
morella: gemini. i know that seems like it should go to will cuz he makes clones of himself and all that, but hear me out. i just feel like she's actually pretty curious and played both sides not out of malice but cuz she's so open-minded and doesn't have many hardcore values, beliefs, etc. even though she's religious. she's eager to learn from everyone to expand her worldview, which she might regret while being averse to conflict.
ada: i think ada's a libra. while aries is about self-advocacy libra is traditional self-sacrifice, and ada lives and breathes based on her relationships, making her some across as shallow since she doesn't want them to have cause to toss her aside. thats kinda all i have for analysis at the moment for this sorry lmao
prospero: a textbook virgo. compared to annabel whose main motivation is actually not reasonable, prospero is much more guided by practical reason and excelling for the sake of it. while he's critical of others and himself don't remember him opening up to others for his own sake though, which says a lot. his love language is very much acts of service.
will: i know the easy thing to do would be to say he's a gemini and call it a day but i really do want to make a case for him being a cancer. cancer tends to cling to others to protect itself due to being harmed in the past, which describes will VERY well. will also tends to avoid direct conflict and does seem to care deeply about others, albeit way too much. will being a cancer also means he and monty would be opposite signs.
montresor: capricorn, i'll admit that i'll mostly picked this becuz the tarot card capricorn is associated with is the devil, but i swear that it works. out of everyone here i think monty is the only one here for the game itself. he's the only one that's displayed a real desire to be the one that's victorious and the drive to get there at all costs. yes lenore is competitive too, but not as ruthlessly ambitious. another thing that does it for me is that he seems to hate being subservient, and he also has frankly horribly suppressed emotions, which reminds me of how capricorn often has a poor work-life balance.
the only sign leftover is sagittarius, who i think could be arthur but we'll see.
ME!!! I HAVE!!!!!!! HE DISPLAYS SO MANY AUTISTIC TRAITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His apparent inability to have an original idea, his immediate gravitation toward one or two people he finds comfortable, his touch aversion, his bluntness and straightforwardness, his angry out bursts, shutting down and not being able to talk when afraid or overwhelmed, and his lack of friends throughout his life are all things that I picked up as traits of autism for him.
Additionally, his difficulty with understanding how others are feeling is subtle but present. He doesn't realize how badly he is hurting Ada or Montresor until they swing back. His awkwardness when attempting to comfort Annabel. Even how he reacts to other people being injured or sick compared to how he reacts to his own sickness and injuries.
to me at least i don’t think the issue is people not being able to handle suspense being impatient or being too used to regular romance (slow burn is a thing no?) necessarily. i think it’s more so that you can only build tension in anticipation of something for so long before the hype dies down and/or the expectation exceeds the reality. this is probably a crappy example but it’s my childhood show so yeah lmao, but miraculous has been going on since i was in elementary school and they still haven’t done a proper identity reveal after baiting us about it a lot so i really do not know how they’ll avoid it being the most anticlimactic event ever after a decade.
obviously nevermore hasn’t been stretched to last until the sun starts fusing iron nor has such inconsistent writing, but if you’re gonna take people on a journey, the longer it lasts the more likely they are to bail before you arrive at the destination and that the people that stick along find it underwhelming if that makes sense.
i don’t think there needs to be a giant lore bomb every other episode, but i do think things have been drawn out enough that the new developments there are if any don’t feel as significant. also tbh i feel like the season finale is upon us after a year of being in the same arc and that probably doesn’t help with the the other pacing issues that are baked in from being a webtoon
Listen up y’all I have either solved the plot with this theory or it’ll get spectacularly debunked 💀 💀 💀
2/12/26: damn lenore spectre wrong but just ignore the rest is still solid i swear im not coping
So i really wanted to come up with a nevermore theory for a while but I felt like others already made most of the good ones… until I was chatting with a friend on Discord who has tumblr blog i will link (ily jax) and she told me her idea of how time worked in Nevermore:
time for dead souls equals a river. And in nevermore they cut out a weird subsection that trickles into their little realm. so the river is doing god knows what out there and it can be at any time at all. but the deans created a little stagnant pond area that isn’t impacted by the river now
and if need be they can just throw a soul they don’t want back into the river where it can go faster or slower whatever it needs to
And it got my yapping obsessed brain thinking about how in Greek mythology at least rivers are heavily associated with the underworld, with the most prominent example being the River Styxx (which is even mentioned by Eulalie). And while they just used it as a metaphor it made me realize that Nevermore Academy is surrounded by nothing but an oceanic abyss, and if time flows like water it seems like it all converged into a sea or ocean of sorts… that brings to mind a cosmic ocean.
Another VERY important factor here is how every student so far is from a different point in time within the 20th century (Annabel and Lenore are the oldest chronologically, as its highly likely they died right at the turn of the millennium). This not only means that classes are sorted by century, but it also begs the question: How can people from several different time periods die and then exist simultaneously in the same realm? From the perspective of Lenore and Annabel, Will, Monty, Prospero, Duke, Berenice and the rest all are from what would be the ‘future’ and haven't even been born yet. But the future for where they are from didn’t happen, so shouldn’t they all not be real?
Well, there are 3 main ways to think about how time in the universe works. Allow me to infodump:
– The present exists, but the past and the future do not as the former has already happened and the latter has yet to happen, but they aren’t happening. This is called presentism.
– The past and the present exist, the future does not exist yet. The present continuously becomes the past as the future becomes the present. This is called growing block universe/theory.
– And the last one is that the past, the present and the future all exist. Just like how there are places in space that still exist even if you aren't there, events in time still exist even if you aren’t there. This is eternalism, and the Nevermore world as a whole has to follow it for all these people to exist simultaneously.
(If you are curious to learn more about how this works, here is a neat video by kurzgesagt!)
The reason why ties into the whole river thing I started describing earlier; an eternalist universe necessitates that everything that has existed, exists, and will exist has been decided already. Everyone has a personal timeline from the moment they are born to the moment they die, a flowing river that converges into the sea around Nevermore. However if just this were to be true, the academy should be a senior living center. So now what we need to figure out is what makes you eligible for Nevermore Academy (regardless of class), and by extension a second chance at life.
My answer is that their deaths (for reasons that ngl I don't know lmao) violated what was predetermined. None of them were meant to die so early, their ‘rivers’ still had a long path to flow across, and it is also why they’re in a purgatorial state of being. Assuming that is true, this must also be: The second chance at life would be a continuation of their life give or take at the time of their unfated death through resurrection. Their river would be allowed to keep flowing along and they would live out as long as they should have. If they had died when they were supposed to and were given a second chance, it wouldn’t be a continuation, it would be just doubling the length of their lifespan. And it couldn’t be reincarnation, as their new life would be missing a portion of their natural lifetime.
So to recap so far, all of time and by extension everyone’s fate in Nevermore is scripted and diverging against it by getting killed/dying when it was never meant to happen is what gets you into the Academy. Everyone’s lifetime is a personal timeline like a river, and the ones that still had to flow from the cosmic sea around the isle.
Now another major question is what in the world are the deans.
There is actually a sea monster in mythos that dwells in an abyssal ocean of chaos that eats the souls of the damned when they die. It’s called the leviathan. And the deans as some panels imply (that I swear exist even if I can’t remember what episode they are from to screenshot 😭) seem to possess these wack eldritch tentacles, so yeah you see where I’m going with this. The deans aren’t here to keep their promise to resurrect anyone. In fact I heavily doubt that they can. All of this is just an elaborate way to farm souls as they don’t get the same kick from eating the souls of those who lived as they should and passed in peace.
The deans are likely weird beings with power over not just time to know everyone’s memories and bring them all together but also space (teleporting people, observing them from afar, pocket dimensions, dreamland, they aren’t native to Nevermore and appear to have access to the land of the living and the land of the dead). They are probably close to if not straight up omnipresent and omniscient. Crucially though, they do NOT have any direct power over life and death, as much as they would like to act like they do.
But you know Lenore’s supposed family curse and how she has heavy fire symbolism going on? (for example, she literally burned down her old life when she was alive and took on a new identity). Welllllll I think something about that has to do with the new life. Lemme try my best to express this thought in a way that is understandable.
The deans weren’t always at Nevermore. Before, the people that arrived had to make a pilgrimage to the land of the living to get a second chance at life. Nevermore is full of hostile and predatory spirits, kinda like a forest full of dangerous animals. What is something that people are drawn to because it provides warmth to keep going, something makes animals agitated because of its dangerous heat, and is associated with rebirth? Fire.
That’s exactly why fire was so helpful when it was discovered for human life, and for similar reasons I think fire, or some spiritual magic source that takes the form of fire, is what is necessary at all for life to continue. It makes a second chance at life actually possible and not just cope the deans feed the students. Living needs energy. People’s “rivers” need energy, and if they die before they should they would still have a bunch of energy that wasn’t all used up left. They just need a spark to fully access it and get it all back. You can’t just make more energy after all, it can only be transformed.
The deans love and hate this. They love it because the Academy is designed to narrow down the students to who has the most potent energy (like the strongest will to live, or life drive which is also termed Eros sometimes. The opposite, the death drive, is named Thanatos) cuz it makes the most yummy dinner for them. They hate it because it’s outside of their control. Fire is all-consuming and destructive but still a creative force. Because the second chance is a lie they can’t even make true if they wanted to. Also, Theo was in the prior class with the same curse, so Merry and Mourn turned him into the Wild Hunt (regardless of whether he won or lost since he was a top student, I also feel like it could have been his spectre or a hijacked form of it since all spectres so far are humanoid) so they could force him into hunting other energetic souls for them to eat. That’s also why the Wild Hunt is attracted to Lenore; they are tied to the same primordial power, for whatever reason that I can’t think of actually uhhhhhhhh moving on lmfao
Ok so. Now.
Just like how Lenore has fire imagery, Annabel has water or more closely ice imagery. The poem that is her namesake even has some bits related to the sea, cold and death.
As you have followed along with me we have established that spacetime = water, life = fire. When water freezes into ice, things wither and die from an absence of energy. So when people properly die, their rivers freeze over and no longer flow. Death = ice.
Annabel’s spectre is constantly cold, draining heat around her and even having a kiss that kills people. While Lenore burned away her old identity full of suffering, Annabel was willing to resign into a role she despised until Lenore entered her life, so you can even say that Lenore reignited Annabel’s appreciation of life as the former is the raison d’etre for the latter (in their past life it was the other way around). Lenore is also warmhearted and sincerely wants to save all of her friends, while Annabel is coldhearted and tends to see people as pawns. She’s also the very first one to manifest, but it was deliberately triggered by Merry and Mourn.
Why would they do that? Because they cannot risk Lenore manifesting (yes I think it’ll be a phoenix or at the very least involve fire somehow and this may be why they offered to manifest Lenore’s spectre in Dreamland) without being able to subdue her and sap the life giving magic from her inherent curse for them to exploit. If Theo as the Wild Hunt hunting down Lenore doesn’t work, this is how they’ll keep things the way they want. They don’t want anyone to actually get revived. They just want more power for themselves.
2 smol side notes:
I think that since everyone so far had a death that can be considered to be murder or a wrongful killing, that everyone in Theo’s class prior had a death as a result of a tragic accident due to how he died.
Also I think the Raven is one of the roaming spirits and is aware of Lenore’s curse and wants to consume it cuz magic primal power would help with getting revived.
Y’all I know I threw out a lot of info so I’ll try to summarize the main points of my theory:
In the story of Nevermore the universe is an eternalist one. Past, present, and future all exist, which means that everything that existed, exists, and will exist throughout space and time is predetermined. This is how people from different chronological points are able to be brought together. Merry and Mourn are aquatic-ish beings that have power over spacetime, but not life and death proper. They do not and cannot keep their end of the bargain when it comes to the second chance at life, it’s just a manipulation tool.
Everyone has a personal timeline that flows like a river. If you die before you were destined to, you are eligible to be a Nevermore Academy student. Rivers that still flow all form the cosmic ocean surrounding Nevermore.
Rivers run on some spiritual fire magic source that powers life cuz it needs energy. Rivers from people that died early still have energy leftover that can present as the will to live. This is what the deans feed on and the whole academy is just a way to farm energetic souls.
Lenore’s family curse has to do with said spiritual fire magic source, since while it’s a creative force it’s also destructive, and cuz of its life giving properties the second chance at life is now actually possible with its use. The deans want this power but don’t want anyone to get revived. In the prior class with Theo, they turned him into the Wild Hunt and made him hunt souls for him. This is also why the Hunt is drawn to Lenore.
They made Annabel manifest first cuz her spectre abilities around ice and death (as people’s rivers freeze over and stop flowing when they run out of spiritual fire magic energy and truly die) would be useful to use against Lenore due to her possessing a Phoenix/fire-related spectre due to the curse and to get what they want to fulfill their hunger.
Finally lol, hope this wasn’t all nonsense and sorry if it wasn’t structured too well. Next time I'll probably yap about the new group of students we saw and what their roles could be. If you wanna add on or anything pls credit me or something. Byeeeee
TW for discussions of death!! also SPOILERS for recent episodes in Season 2 (not fast pass ones)
so as i was rereading all the episodes we have as of now i noticed that Morella is probably the character we know the least about right now when it comes to what her life was like prior to dying and ending up in nevermore. Duke was a magician sabotaged during a show, Pluto had an abusive and alcoholic dad that probably offed him one way or another, Ada was a maid killed by her lover in the middle of the woods, etc. (we don’t know how Lenore died either but there’s a lot more content to speculate on that) we even know that Berenice was run over by a suspicious man despite our lack of lore on her that we’ll (probably) get soon.
i’ve heard small theories here and there that Morella died during the great famine in Ireland, which i didn’t subscribe to at first becuz no one had a death explicitly tied to a historical event like that… until we got Will backstory bits that seemed to take place during a period of severe dust storms—the dehydration from that would explain why his last meal of choice would have been peaches and a glass of water.
so i thought about how Morella’s chosen last meal was shepherd’s pie, a food made using leftover meat and popular among people in poverty. in episode 104 it’s also noticed by Eulalie that Morella is a rather good cook. when she asks where Morella learned, the latter brushes it off. and it’s pretty evident by now that people still retain their learned skills, behaviors and whatnot from when they were in the land of the living, like Duke with lockpicking.
so now cuz of all of this i actually think that it would make sense for her death to have happened cause of the Irish famine, whether directly or indirectly. the only thing is that i struggle to tie it in with the following—
her spectre being a guardian which strongly suggests she died trying to save/help/protect someone. this wouldn’t be a difficult puzzle piece into fit if not for the one below
the pattern of most the deaths being murders or close to being murders (Annabel was shot, Duke sabotaged, Montresor straight up tied to a railroad, Will was left for dead, that fire that burnt down the building Eulalie was in could have been intentional, based on the vision of Prospero’s fear courtesy of Ada he may have been wrongly operated on, etc etc only Lenore may not have been murder due to the lack of info)
the thing i have in mind is that she tried to get other people to eat, feed them, gave them food or something along those lines but someone found that stupid to say the least and either punished her by withholding food and making her starve or some other more obvious way of committing homicide due to her being seen as a liability, but maybe there’s better options out there that i just can’t think of lmao
idk if i’m the only one but i’ve been using this site less and less lately… i don’t feel like engaging in many of my fandoms cuz either
1. genuine well voiced criticism is overshadowed by lots of hate that makes me feel bad for acknowledging the flaws while liking the show (miraculous ladybug)
2. seeing an entirely different tag just for often valid criticism of a series (ex. percy jackson) and suddenly feeling bad for ever genuinely loving said series
like don’t get me wrong i’m not against critiquing media at all (in fact i do it myself with some of my childhood shows lmao) and i know that this is one of the reasons there’s separate tags for others to ignore/block (on tumblr at least) but i just wish i didnt feel like trash about being in x fandom and was reluctant to engage in it as a result…
there’s other reasons why i’m usually inactive on tumblr but just. idek.
Demirose is a term used to describe those who don’t experience sexual and romantic attraction until a deep emotional bond with someone is formed first. In short, people who are both demisexual and demiromantic. The term is a portmanteau of demisexual and demiromantic, with the prefix demi- meaning half.
Color Meanings-
Black Triangle: Asexuality and Aromanticism
White Stripe: Emotional bonds
Dark-Light Purple Stripes: Development of sexual attraction
Dark-Light Green Stripes: Development of romantic attraction
Rose: For the puns
Psychiamoric is a term used to describe or refer to the attractions of those who are demisexual, demiromantic, or both (demirose). The prefix psychi- comes from the Greek goddess of the soul Psyche, and amor from the Latin word for love.
Color Meanings-
Purple Stripes: Demisexuality + Demiromanticism
White Stripe: Emotional bonds, community
Butterfly: Psyche can also mean butterfly in Greek, and Psyche is sometimes drawn with butterfly wings. Butterflies can also represent transformation- in this case, the transformation from no attraction to attraction.
Note: I chose Psyche due to the myth of her and Eros implying that she didn’t fall in love with anyone until him, and they spent time getting to know each other. A source for this is the second section of this article. Also, Psyche was stated to be even more beautiful than the goddess of beauty and was the goddess of the soul- which can be interpreted as the soul being more beautiful than the outside appearance. To me, this fits being demi, as no primary attraction (appearance) is experienced, but we do experience secondary attraction (developing over time).
