Here's another one i did a while back. I tried making it look like the official art. Below the cut is an explanation of the process and the evolution of the line art, but no time lapse.
This took me a long time to finish once I started. That's the trend for me it seems. Life getting in the way and all I guess.
I started from a rough sketch on paper (which I sadly cannot find...) then from there I had a rough idea of what I wanted and cleaned up the lining. I don't remember if my boyfriend suggested I emulate the art or if I considered it before committing, but he did send me references of the art for Majora's Mask. I edited and resized what I had already done to match the official art and I reworked the anatomy.
Everything aside from the shield was drawn while referencing and color picking the official art. The 3DS model for the Razor sword was referenced as well.
I only traced the 3DS model of the shield after getting the angle I wanted in a model viewer, the only part of the shield I did myself was the owl crest. In the future I want to avoid tracing at all, but I was so fed up by the time I was done with the rest I just did NOT want to deal with it.
This took a long time for me to finish, I completely lost motivation after my progress file became corrupted. Luckily I was able to salvage a thumbnail version of the lineart to trace but I didn't draw at all for a year after that.
Also took a long time to actually get around to posting it to tumblr. I do have a purple bg alt, I switch between liking one more than the other

I'll end at around the waist or hips, depending on what looks better. I'm sorry but full on Furry is unavailable for this specific listing. Not because I have a thing against it but because I suck at anthro.
If you want multiple characters to interact with each other in some way, each +1 character will be 20% off, limit to +4 for chibis and half body.
I'll show you a few rough ideas for your commission to pick from, or you can instead detail what you had in mind. Once you approve a sketch, I'll start the line art.
I keep you updated as I go to make sure you get what you want. I'll ask for payment around the midway point and will continue once payment is processed.
I tend to stick with neutral lighting. If you would like a certain mood, let me know!

I did trace over the old drawing for the new one since non-human designs hold up better and I think it still holds up to me, but I did add and change a few things overall. I wanted to have more ragged line art for this as I feel it fits the mood better. I added a sort of mood that the original lacked, some light fog, and that harsh, black, perpetual shadow under Link's bangs.

I feel I improved the face and his pose. He's a little more relaxed in the shoulders and the wind direction has better consistency. I color sampled the official artwork for Vaati in The Minish Cap to get the more accurate base colors seen in the comparison. I know it's generally a poor idea to use black to shade but i can only have purple darkening purple beside purple so much before it all looks bad so I did use a more black/grey tone in shading his hair.
Both images are also on my deviantART at Mellz117. Formerly RustyMetalViolet, I finally updated my username to match almost everything else.

They wanted an elderly, bumbling hermit who is also a mage. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to me! I was given creative freedom in designing him. I figured getting lost in a cave and trying to read a map in the dimness of a candlelight spell was a good bit of trouble to get into.

I was given creative control over Kara and I had a lot of freedom. Of course I asked for input but my... Customer? Client?? Commissioner??? was happy with everything I had done. I was given an image for my work on Finley, and I was to lean more on that reference.
Finley was a bit more of a hardened, grizzled character so that gave my an opportunity to try more details like brow wrinkles. He seems much more detailed than the youthful, elvish Kara.

I did this quite a while ago. This isn't an entire redraw, the old one isn't god awful but I felt there were still enough issues to justify fixing it.
I fixed the hands and arms to make them a little more natural, still not perfect but I think better. I color sampled from his in-game model and adjusted the shading and overall form to more closely match how he appears in The Wind Waker.
