Always loved this wallpaper in George’s room, but only upon this rewatch it dawned on me where these gnomes come from: the Dutch The Secret Book of Gnomes book series illustrated by Rien Poortvliet. Which had a cartoon series in the 80s The World of David the Gnome.

In the behind the scenes video about the Pink House the set designer talked about how the thought would be that George ended up in a kids’ room by tossing a coin and that it was always too small to contain his werewolf. And it’s probably not a coincidence that the age of innocence ended for the trio in the episode when we see this wallpaper for the last time – in the end of the said episode Mitchell becomes the leader of the Bristol vampire clan and it’s the beginning of the end for all of them basically.

But also, going back to The World of David the Gnome (and the book series), it’s interesting how it ends with the death/transition to the afterlife of David, his wife Lisa and their friend. With their fox friend mourning them and then moving on, meeting another gnome and his friend fox. It’s obviously a coincidence, but still very interesting, how Mitchell, George and Nina died and Annie was left to mourn them and then befriending Tom and Hal. Or even how the trio (Mitchell, Annie and George) left the show and we had a new trinity (Hal, Tom, Alex).

the most unintentionally funny thing abt being human uk is how they play the fucking default usa eagle screech (ik it's actually a red tailed hawk lol) sound effect whenever the vampires do something scary. i made a short compilation but it happens many more times
