hi hiiii!!! its me, bee (she/her + he/him, 21+, est/utc-4, AND also the mun of seoyun!) i am back with yet another muse... this time i am bringing you all olivia song (or oli/liv she's fine with any nicknames really), yeonhwa's tired and somewhat lonely yet hardworking official unofficial tutor!! below i have a bit about her background and personality as well as some plots i'd like for her, and you can find her full profile here and her pinterest here too!! :D just like and i will dm you (or you can dm me first either works) for plotting!!

olivia was born in liverpool, uk but her family has moved around far too many times for her to count honestly. not just cross-country, but within europe and australia a bit as well.

her mom's job as a travel nurse meant her family didn't quite stay in one place for too long, which THEN made it a bit hard for a young olivia to feel comfortable and make friends easily knowing she'd be gone again soon enough.

that leads her to become one of those kids that people look at and are like 'oh wow she's sooo smart and quiet' and she is! but she's mostly just used to keeping to herself and reading books all the time because!! the characters in the books don't leave like people do!!

once she graduated high school, she decides that she wants to have some sort of constant in her life. she has the opportunity to go anywhere in the world, anywhere at all…

… and she chooses to go to yeonhwa, not only because it's a prestigious school in general but because it'd be somewhere new for her entirely. she has other family there that she hasn't seen since she was a baby, so she also decides this would be a great time to get to reconnect with them as well. she gets to make her own story, and hopefully she can finds some actual friends here!!

she's in her 2nd year now, double majoring in marketing and literature AND with a minor in visual communication (yeah she's an overachiever), and she feels more comfortable here than she has constantly packing and unpacking her life in new places for 18 years... but she still has a lot of room to grow!

personality.

now i say all of that to say… olivia is a bit of a loner!! listen… keeping to yourself a lot for 18 years doesn't always equal immediate change, especially when she's used to having to let go of what connections she does make in her life.

she wants to make close friends she really does. but it's hard and it's just easier having acquaintances. type of person to go home after the hangout and go 'damn that was not my best work </3' even though everyone probably enjoyed her company very much.

she's EXTREMELY bookish. she rents out a study room at the library's quiet floor just so she can read a few books in peace before going to her next class. the library staff knows her very well and already has her favorite room's key prepped for her before she even gets there. this girl already finished whatever readings were due for thursday's class LAST week.

a bit of a workaholic. just a bit. just a bit!!!! (staring at her two majors, minor, and leadership roles in clubs) her family is fairly well off, but she's definitely attending yeonhwa on mostly scholarship money, and because of that she's making SURE she's staying on top of her grades for it.

she buys cute and pretty stationery because she believes in having nice looking notes to help inspire good study habits. she's a dork.

definitely the type of person to do something more to help others than herself. she has a tendency to go out of her way if someone needs something (someone asking for her notes when they have a test next time the class meets), but she feels like it's better to help someone who needs it and lightly scold them for not being better prepared than to punish them for it. she is very much a big sister vibe gal (and also an actual big sister to one slightly annoying and silly girl in middle school actually)…

she's the type of person who is very nice overall but does not exactly try hard to become close to someone else, if that makes sense? she keeps people at arm's length most of the time because she's afraid, that if she doesn't get accepted to yeonhwa's mba program after her 4th year, she has to up and leave and go back to europe which is fine but not what she wants right now!!!

someone PLEASE take this girl out of the library/her room and take her somewhere fun. i'm so serious. she can count the number of parties she's gone to and it's NOT a lot.

business school + humanities school majors come here… with her label, she is the absolute first person to go to if you need the best notes for any classes. during finals week, she even gets one of the classrooms for two giant study sessions (one for business majors, one for humanities majors each) with plenty of snacks and sodas, its an event. she's organized every class gc and runs it like the navy. come to her unofficial office hours at sweet corn at 2-4 pm tues/wed/thurs. PLEASE let her help you cause she wants to see her fellow students succeed.

really anyone in general… come to her "office hours"… this girl will read your essays and tell you what to fix and write instead to get an a. she'll show you the best website to find the most accurate summaries and answers to the questions over that 90 page chapter you didn't read for class tomorrow. payment? what payment? this was just her being nice. make it up to her by not failing your classes.

international students also come here… i'm not sure how many muses so far were born in/lived in europe + australia at any time but if we could have possible childhood friends that would be so cute… possibly some friends she lost contact with and they suddenly realize they actually know each other because they're that person they hung out with for like 4 months until she had to get up and move suddenly, OR childhood friends that she was able to keep in contact with and become long-time pen pals with…

intl students in general!!! she's the vice president of the intl students organization so she'd go out of her way to make sure everyone in the org is doing well and adjusting to south korea, especially if they're 1st years.

capella members (and polaris boys since they're chill with each other)… she's also the treasurer of capella so again she'll be looking out for the rest of her girls. she definitely goes crazy during their events to make sure each one is better than last year's. also working super hard to prove herself since she's only a 2nd year and would DEFINITELY want to become president in her 3rd-4th year.

who else out here torturing their muses by giving them the same health issues as them olivia also has low blood sugar so she tends to keep a few snacks on her in case it gets too low (in particular cantabile fruit pouches, she likes the melon ones.) maybe your muse helps her out during a study session between them where they can tell she's low energy by buying her some juice and such when she forgets her stuff in her room. a rare moment she'll allow herself to depend on someone else.

the rare friend or two she's managed to keep somehow… perhaps they were in the same orientation group (if both 2nd years) and that's how they bonded, even if they may or may not have anything close in common… odd but close friendships…

someone accidentally viewing one of the rare moments she finally Crashes from all the work she takes on. some poor soul being asked to check by library staff if anyone else is still hanging around at closing only to see this girl asleep at her laptop in one of the private study rooms…

of course the yeonchella event is going on right now as well so i'm also open to threads for that too!! i straight up do not have anything in mind but i'm so open to planning

pretty in pink summary: kim sera ( @legallysera ) and song olivia take the first step in becoming something more.

by now, olivia song had gotten more than used to seeing the color pink. from the sheets of the bed right across from hers, to the hair accessories and stationery that littered the desk next to it, but also (and not limited to, of course) the wardrobe of her roommate, who was currently getting ready to head out too.

it was all thanks to one kim sera.

not that she minded it; she went through a short pink hating phase in her middle school years, but she had since grown out of that grudge, leading her to not mind seeing it for at least a good majority of her day. now it’s began to feel a bit comforting, a nice reminder of when she finally gets to sit down and rest her body and mind for a while.

though it’s because of that color that she’s started to find herself becoming… distracted lately.

not that she would admit that.

she was absentmindedly working through some of the budgeting for capella’s latest event, chewing on her lip as she did so. this needed to be moved, and there was no way they had the money for that…

“… huh?” suddenly she found sera standing nearby her now, the matching scent of strawberries coming ever so closer too. she pauses once she realizes what her roommate was saying (something about her lips being chapped, she thinks?), glancing down awkwardly as her teeth released her bottom lip. “oh, right… you got me there. i’ll try not to do it again.”

being called out on one of her bad habits only makes her feel a little shy, but for some reason it feels amplified when it's her. olivia doesn't really know why that is, or how to explain it.

hera loves going home to her grandparent's house. it is a traditional hanok in the middle of the bustling city and if one looks closely, they'll realize that it's been used as a set for historical dramas one too many times. and hera loves it even more for that. not only does it keep her grounded, but it also further solidifies her connection to her culture. it's also a plus because she's observed countless actors and actresses hone their craft right before her yes. it definitely added inspiration for her to pursue acting.

that's what she wanted to share with olivia the moment they met and upon learning that she grew up somewhere far. reconnecting with a family member you didn't know you had is a kind of rush that hera didn't expect to experience. she didn't grow up with a lot of relatives, their family being spread far and wide throughout other countries. it has always been her, and her grandparents that roam the halls of their house. having olivia over certainly brings more liveliness in their otherwise peaceful home.

it was an offhanded comment during dinner that shaped the rest of their short visit. hera's jaw was literally on the floor when olivia mentioned she hasn't been in a spa. meanwhile, hera goes to get a full body and facial every two weeks.

so when they finally reached their destination, hera thanks her driver and asks them to come back in a couple of hours. "it's going to be fun, liv! i promise," she says, taking the girls hand and urging them both inside the spa.

the staff greeted them kindly as they enter, perks of having a somewhat recognizable name. the spa smelled faintly of incense and a bunch of soaps that hera couldn't discern. the staff led them to an office where the owner, herself, greeted them with a smile.

"miss hera, always a pleasure for you to chose us and who...?" the owner turns to olivia and hera introduces her.

"this is my cousin, olivia. i trust that you guys have the best set for us?" hera says, getting comfortable in her seat. the excitement in her eyes evident and she pats olivia's arm to offer a sense of comfort.

the owner went on about what kind of treatment they'll be getting today. from full body-massages to facial treatments. they first determine the kinds of things each individual's skin needs and then base the experience off of that.

hera turns to her cousin, kind smiles always painted on her face. "how does that sound, olivia? i guarantee that they're the best of the best!"

olivia breathes in for a moment, pausing to think about the situation once again. yes, she’ll be stuck in a robe for a few hours, and yes, it’s a situation she’s never been in before, but… well, it’s not like she ever had the chance to indulge in something like this. between constantly moving around and working her ass off in high school to get into yeonhwa, there wasn’t much fun for her that wasn’t related to finding new books to enjoy in a different language.

plus, there was also the fact that she did enjoy hera’s company, and wanted to keep hanging out with her. despite their differences, it was nice having another woman she could talk to within her family who wasn’t her little sister… or her mom. just another peer in the same age range as her, and that meant she should try to step out of her comfort zone and take part in her interests, too.

she should give herself this, even a little.

she breathes out now, nodding as her hands grip her tote’s strap, one of her thumbs rubbing against them. “… yeah, you’re right. i’m sure it’ll be fine.” nevermind the way she almost trips over her feet when hera urges them inside.

olivia gives a sheepish smile (along with a quick bow, to be polite) to the owner when they turn to her, glancing over at hera when she takes on the responsibility of introducing her. help me.

she does her best to focus on all the parts of the treatment they were getting, though a few things do go over her head. like what was a scalp detox and massage…? as far as fanciness goes, she was just expecting them to put rocks on their spine.

despite her slight confusion though, she nods and gives hera a soft smile. “sure, that sounds good to me. i trust you to pick out something good for us.” she pauses for a moment before glancing away, rubbing the back of her head. "so, do we just like... go into a room now, or...?"

park minjoon was not a man of any measure of good luck. in fact, if anything, he is known for being cursed. he sometimes wonders if he'll ever get anything right, or if the world was out to get him. maybe it's a trade off. being born the way he was maybe it's pittance to suffer after.

maybe that's why he's a bit late this morning as he crosses the hall on the 6th floor towards the elevator, late to get to his 11am class because he was late getting coffee this morning. his frown is glued in place, a death glare, a tragic affair as he stops the closing doors with his fingers. it slides apart and he slips in with a cold and set in stone sort of passive annoyance to his dark eyes.

the doors close behind him and he pushes the button and then, only then, glances at the only other person next to him in the elevator. oh. his gaze flashes over the girl next to him, and then away. he recognizes her but he can't pinpoint where. mutual friends perhaps? (if joon can even be said to have many of those), or maybe a course or some god forsaken university event that pitted him next to her? he can't tell. he lowers his chin in a stiff sort of greeting, polite but awkward due to his bad mood.

he doesn't even get to pretend that he's not in a bad mood, because it can't be more than 40 seconds before the ground beneath his feet trembles, the rattling cage that is the elevator they're in pitching back and forward and then, freezing in place with a drop that mirrors in his stomach. he shot his hands out to grab the railing, a deep sigh leaving his lips.

great. malfuction? his heart squeezes in his chest but it's overridden by the utter hate he feels towards his fate. cursed. for sure.

"great." he echoes his thoughts but out loud, for her to hear. "just great." he glances at her to make sure she's ok, with an unfortunately heavy, intimidating glare though he doesn't mean it.

it would be just her luck to be running late, huh?

of course, olivia would rather die than miss any of her classes (maybe that’s an overstatement, but still)—she stayed behind to get her professor’s opinion on something, and one question lead to another which became another…

and that’s how she found herself rushing halfway through campus to reach the building she was already supposed to be in about… five minutes ago.

she lets herself rest against the furthest wall in the elevator, head tilted forward and eyes closed shut for a few seconds as she panted. god. she had no clue how sera could stand to do this—running—all the time.

ding. it takes her a moment to realize there’s another person entering the elevator—not her finally getting to the floor she’s meant to be on. her eyes flick open again and she steadies herself enough to give him a tiny wave and a quick, small smile.

does she know him from somewhere? she’s really not sure, all she can think about is she’s now almost seven minutes late. maybe she tutored him at one point? she’ll figure it out later.

her train of thought gets cut off thanks to the elevator giving up on them, almost like a sign of how she should give up on getting to her next class. she lurches forward slightly, luckily she was already gripping onto the railing behind her so she didn’t have to worry about falling out on the floor in front of this random guy.

they still had to deal with the main issue at hand, though.

once the motion surrounding them finally settled down, she looked over at joon and just… sighed, utterly annoyed at how this day was shaping up. giving him a thumbs up with a weak, bitter smile, “don’t worry, i’m fine. my attendance grade won’t be, but…”

ah. 

she trails off, pulling her phone out of her pocket only to groan at the lack of bars showing up on the top right corner. “actually, scratch that. i’m in hell. there’s no service in here.” she tilts her phone to show him, as if he needed further evidence of how fucked they were.

“… how long do you think itll take us to get out of here? if i want to be hopeful, i’ll say about fifteen minutes.”

on the soccer pitch, jinyoung is mostly about fair play. he's not a complete stickler for the rules; nobody is 'team ref' and if you know the rules so well that you can gain a small edge by outsmarting your opponents, sure — go for it. but pure gimmicks like shamelessly grifting for penalty calls and trying to get away with cheap shots? he thinks that's cowardly and reserved for players who don't have the real skills to back up their big talk.

but in real life? well... it's more case by case. maybe because there's more cases in which he finds himself closer to the bucket of 'unskilled' and 'cowardly'. for example, right now, buried painfully deep somewhere between the realm of academics and library torture, a little bit of dirty play or a hail mary is sort of all he has.

honestly, he's caught a bit off guard by how stubbornly and successfully olivia keeps up with him in his mini rampage towards the exit. you'd think by his third year, he'd stop underestimating how vicious these 'nerds' and overachievers at the school were, but he doesn't. and therefore they keep finding novel ways to shock him.

he responds to her sarcastic question with a wry smile of his own. "i'm getting... whichever drink takes the longest amount of time to make." shameless now, because she evidently has seen through his pitiful attempt at a disguise. it's also a lie because whatever drink that is probably exceeds his daily sugar macros and it's also clear that he doesn't need to be any more jittery than he already is. but the general level of chatter and activity in the cafe is already a reprieve in itself.

"yes, of course you can have a water." he resists the urge to roll his eyes at her as they pop into the line. was that really the grand secret to good grades? a healthy hydration habit? as they wait for the line to crawl along, he turns back to her, head tilted slightly in curiosity. "so you like... actually find studying to be fun?" he's not trying to be rude or judgmental; just genuinely befuddled. "and how much do you get paid to put up with idiots like me? hopefully generously."

olivia's eyes glance off to the side as if trying to find the nonexistent camera in the room to stare at when she hears his 'order'. he can’t be serious. “you know, for all the hoops you willingly put yourself through, i don’t actually believe you this time. … either that, or you’re getting something you don’t even plan to drink?”

can she really put it against him to waste his own money just so he doesn’t have to do work, especially after she just saw him try to lose her in the library? good question.

a happy hum comes from her when he agrees to buy her water, nodding in return. “thank you.” truthfully, she was craving something more than that (an americano sounded great, actually), but alas. the horrors of having to watch what she consumed for her own health.

genuinely she expected them to stand here in silence, or for him to find someone he knew in the line to chat up instead of speaking to her, so olivia couldn't help but blink in surprise. she glances away, tugging at her sleeves for a second as she tries to figure out how to answer, “i wouldn’t say i find studying fun. at least, not by itself. it goes by easier when i have music to do it, or if i’m working with someone else on a project, but…” she shrugs a bit. “since most of my work is related to studying, or writing essays, i don’t really have a choice but to enjoy it, at least a little. do you necessarily enjoy long days at practice?” she turns his question onto him now; genuinely curious to see if he can relate to how she felt.

his next question makes her laugh this time, “well, usually, i tutor people for free, or low rates. however, your team really, really wanted me to take you all on, and wanted to make sure i wouldn’t run off at the first sign of resistance from any of you.”

a beat passes before she speaks again, a small grin on her lips. “let’s just say they pay me pretty damn well. i don’t have to worry about my grocery or personal reading fund for next semester, amongst other things, so i guess i should thank you for that.”

“my turn to ask now.” the next question comes to her quickly, and she asks it almost as quickly as she said the first sentence. “have you never had a tutor before while you were here? there’s no way you put anyone else through this sort of run-around, right?”

balancing act ft. olivia song @memoriesblur may 2025

in his years at yeonhwa, the sejeong library has become familiar ground for micah. not because he necessarily loves it there — he prefers studying in the comfort of his own room, where he’s free to snack as he likes and listen to music out loud, away from the prying eyes of strangers — but it’s the only place to get the psych books he needs without emptying his wallet. his library visits have almost become a ritual for him now — carefully planned out, and he knows exactly where to find what he needs without wasting time. in and out in under 30 minutes, usually. 

he’s just about done checking out his books, when there’s movement approaching the self-check out desk, grabbing his attention. at first, all he sees is a mountain of books, teetering perilously in the hands of someone he immediately recognizes — olivia, vice president of the ISO, always juggling more than she should. 

micah’s expression softens with concern, though there is a flicker of amusement at the absurd height of her stack. of course olivia would be the type of person to carry home what looks like at least a month worth of reading at the same time. 

“hey, olivia,” he greets gently, careful not to startle her. “do you need a hand with that?” he slides his own books into his backpack, freeing up both arms. “...or maybe two?”

maybe it was a bit of a mistake to try and check out five books all at once, but olivia would try to say it was actually not a bad idea—considering how not every single book had hundreds of pages, two of them were pretty small in comparison.

she barely managed to carry all of the books over to the check out desk, to the surprise of the librarian working. despite her small victory, she… genuinely had no idea how she was going to carry them all the way back to nuri hall. that was something she was attempting to think over while the books were checked out under her name, anyway.

she was debating putting the lighter books in her bag, and just praying to whatever god had mercy on her that she’d make it to her room without dropping any of them—or worse, stumbling into someone and possibly hurting them—when a familiar voice tapped her out of her thoughts.

“… huh? oh… hello, micah.” it takes her a few seconds to fully recognize what he said, but a soft smile comes to her face as she nodded to him in greeting. she raises her hands up, nearly about to tell him that she can handle taking all of her books to her room before she pauses.

then glances back over at the books.

she sheepishly looks back at him, an awkward smile on her lips now. “… actually, if you really wouldn’t mind…” it was rare for her to take on someone else’s kind gesture towards her, but she realizes it’s better to let micah help her than to struggle the entire walk. it wouldn’t hurt this once, right?

once her books were finally checked out, she slides them off to the side for any other students, before handing three of them to micah (two of the heavier ones, and one lighter ones.) “if you can take these two, i should be able to handle the other ones. can i… buy you food or something, to repay you?”

“oh, i call this side!” sera sprints ahead of olivia into their new dorm, practically throwing herself at the bed on the right side of the room. her body bounces as she lands on the mattress, though she’s somewhat disappointed to find that it’s not really an upgrade from her bed last year — honestly, it just feels the exact same. 

“this doesn’t really feel any bigger than our old dorm,” she complains, turning her head towards her roommate, so she’s no longer face-down on the bed. “i thought moving buildings meant we’d get a bigger room! i mean, the kitchen and bathrooms are better, i guess, but i don’t really care about that.” especially not the kitchen — sera’s skills in cooking borders on disastrous. 

sighing, she lifts herself up into a sitting position, taking a better look at her new room. it might not be bigger, but it does look somewhat nicer. and, she’s pretty sure they’ve got a better view on campus. plus, there’s a gs25 right outside. so maybe it’s not all bad. 

“what do you think?” she asks, gaze settling on olivia as she leans forward, elbows on her knees and her head resting on her hands. “do you like it better than our last dorm?” and then, before the older has a chance to respond, sera suddenly remembers… him. she’d completely forgotten to tell olivia about him!

“oh! and i’ll have you know, i met the love of my life at second year orientation earlier.” she lets out a sigh, a dreamy smile on her face as she looks towards the window. “he’s the TA in one of my new classes, and i swear, he looks just like emmett if he was korean. like, it has to be meant to be, right?!”

ah. olivia can only blink as she watches sera zoom past her, stopping in the doorway while the other girl slams full speed into the mattress. she raises her hand to cover her mouth, trying to hide the giggle that comes from her as she bounces. “… you know, we should probably wipe everything down first before we get too comfortable… just to really make sure it's extra clean.” her scolding doesn't sound too genuine with the soft tone it comes out in, too busy finding sera's antics funny to be actually annoyed.

she closes the door behind them once she walks in, rolling her own suitcases in behind her before she pauses at her side of the room. it’s a bit strange; she’s moved into so many places in her life, but this is the first time she’s staying with the same person who isn’t family.

there’s not her dad fussing to her little sister about letting him spray her new bed and mattress down (a trait she got from him, definitely), or her mother checking out the new kitchen space—it’s just sera, talking a mile a minute across from her.

a sight that, as much as olivia has a hard time admitting it, has become a bit comforting to her.

she gives her a small smile over her shoulder as she grabs the cleaning supplies from one of her bags, “really? i was thinking you’d appreciate having a better bathroom.” she knows fully well her roommate’s lack of skill in the kitchen, so she won't even mention that—she was the one who made meals for them on the chance one of them didn’t get takeout, anyway.

she opens her mouth to respond to her question—honestly, she didn’t think the new dorm was that bad—as she wipes her desk down with a sanitizer wipe, before blinking in surprise when sera suddenly speaks up again.

and she closes her eyes for a moment to stop herself from staring a hole into the wall in front of her.

“your… your TA?” she can’t even pretend like she’s not absolutely gobsmacked by the idea that her boyfriend or soulmate or what have you was some random TA that she just met like… an hour ago. granted, she didn’t want to come off as being rude to her friend; she knew how serious she was in her pursuit of love. still, her voice comes out a little quiet and mumbled as she scratches her head with her free hand, wiping absentmindedly at her desk now. “… sera, you're aware he’s just doing his job, right?”

it’s easy to feel insignificant in front of olivia, easier still when there’s a party continuing to rage on around them - full of people who don’t care. she looks at olivia for a long moment, debating her options. she wants to talk. she really, really does. it doesn’t feel like a good time. but when will there be another time?

she accepts the offer. “yeah, let’s… let’s leave,” she confirms, turning towards the door again. she walks towards it, sparing an anxious glance over her shoulder to see if olivia’s with her or if she’s faded into the scenery, never to be seen again. she’s still there, which is… something. yua’s stomach turns with anxiety.

they step out of the room. a crate props the door open; yua kicks it out of the way, not caring about the inconvenience it will create for anyone just now trying to come to the party. anything to muffle the noise just a little. it doesn’t help much.

“i feel… sad,” she speaks into the hallway. it’s stupid. it’s stupid to give in to olivia so easily, it’s stupid to try to talk about anything substantial, it’s stupid to expect (want?) her to show that she still cares. yua drops the bait anyway, eyes searching olivia’s face for something that could comfort her. “lonely, i guess.” not that it has anything to do with olivia. it hadn’t, before she’d seen her. as many times as she’s yearned for things to go back to the way they used to be, she hadn’t been thinking about olivia at all.

but she’s thinking about olivia now, and that’s what matters. how much she’d needed who she perceived to be one of her best friends as she was going through a painful breakup months ago, how she hadn’t been there. how she hasn’t been there… at all, really, since freshman year.

“i miss you, liv,” she admits, ripe with sadness and grief. she has plenty of other friends. great friends. she’s lucky to have an amazing support system. but they’re not here now, and that’s half of what’s wrong with her. “where have you been?”

hearing yua actually agree to leave with her makes olivia have to stand there in surprise, watching her for a second or two as she makes her way towards the door before trailing behind her to catch up. she was expecting yua to tell her to fuck off, leave her alone, anything like that.

not ‘let’s leave.’

it’s start though. it’s something.

she doesn’t mind her kicking the door out of the way, even though it does very little to completely muffle the sound of wasted young adults yelling at each other over the loud music. her shoulder leans against the wall of the hallway, her body turned to face yua but her eyes mostly focused on the floor.

“… right. that's... fair.” her voice comes out quiet. she believes that someone else will always take her place when it's time for her to eventually leave someone's life, so what happened to the rest of yua's friends?

for once, the direct girl with all the answers and witty comebacks isn’t anywhere to be found. their eyes finally meet for a second, and she’s not sure whether to keep looking at her or advert her gaze completely by continuing to search the floor like there anything valuable there, like she’d find the perfect way to comfort and apologize to her.

and then she hears it.

‘i miss you, liv.’

and she feels small again. like she’s back in between countries, chasing planes constantly and counting each suitcase to make sure she didn’t leave anything in the apartment her family was in for the past half-year. reminding herself why she stopped trying to make friends for a while, because all she could do was leave them in the long run.

six months in spain. three in france. seven in italy. going back to england sometimes. twelve spent smiling with yua.

then another move and another move planned. schedules upon schedules filled up with work for iso and capella and tutoring work.

leaving is all she knows. it’s a love language for her.

olivia’s head falls forward slightly, her hair covering her face as she bites her lip. she tries not to focus on the pain in yua’s voice, or the way she grabs at the hem of her own shirt when she asks her where she’s been. she wonders how not to say the same cowardly thing she’s said multiple times before: i’ve been busy.

“… you know where i’ve been, it’s just…” she sighs deeply, trying to push away the part of her that may just wish that yua wanted nothing to do with her. that would’ve been easier than having to go through this, it feels like.

but the truth, or at least some part of it, finally comes out. “… i don’t know. i don’t have any excuses. i just… i can’t ask you to work around my schedule. i know, that’s what friends do, but it feels bad to me to make you jump through hoops just to see me for only five minutes a few times out of the week.” the hand grabbing the hem of her shirt tightens into a fist. she has to keep her voice steady and ignore the way she’s blinking furiously now.

just keep focusing on the floor.

lucas has chalked up quite a reputation around campus. try as he might to turn a deaf ear, he still hears the whispers—lucas has time. lucas gets the job done. lucas is good enough; he'll do. he only gets picked when the first choice isn't available. and he's fine with that. prefers that, actually.

( he thinks, he thinks, he thinks. )

it's a shame. the one time olivia is wrong about something, lucas can't bring himself to correct her, because correcting her means admitting the cold, hard truth that he's not anyone's priority. and even though he knows that deep, down inside, it still hurts like a bitch to acknowledge.

"but did i ask them?" lucas plays off his initial reaction by slouching in his seat and dangling an arm from the back of his chair. his smug as shit demeanour returns as he answers his own question, "no. i asked you."

"don't get me wrong, liv. i'm not trying to make a date out of it. i don't do that sort of thing. you're a smart girl; i'm sure you had that figured out. i'm only offering 'cause i know you haven't eaten—" he raises a finger to silence any potential objections. "and fine, okay, maybe i also want to pick your brain for ideas. you've heard of the infamous philosophy prof, right? how he terrorizes his students with a thesis in the first month? yeah. guess who's the lucky bastard that has him first thing in the morning next semester?"

the silence that comes after olivia asks him that honestly surprises her, and for a second she wonders if there’s something hiding underneath that. it reminds her of the love interests in some YA books, how the dark and brooding guy actually has a soft spot that he keeps secret from the world through snarky comments and flirting with the main character—not that she would know much about those.

but then lucas speaks up once more and she could feel herself wanting to roll her eyes again.

nevermind.

“i feel delighted, really, that out of everyone here, you’ve decided i’m the one who needs to be tortured—i mean, graced, with your presence.”

‘i'm not trying to make a date out of it. i don't do that sort of thing.’ her next response comes almost immediately after, a dry and speedy “that’s the best thing you’ve ever said to me, truly.”

but she finally lets him continue to speak, though she does open her mouth once he accuses her of not eating. then she closes it and sits back in her chair again, because to the surprise of nobody who actually knows her, he’s actually right. she hadn’t had a good meal, much less a hefty snack, since she started working some hours ago.

she’s finally fully convinced when he admits he actually does need her help, sighing and closing her eyes as she thinks over it for a second. does she really want to help him of all people? no. well—not an exact no, but he’s fairly irritating to her and she’d rather make him suffer for a bit if he needed more from her.

on the other hand, her stomach was a few minutes away from growling at the thought of those kebabs.

a few more seconds pass before olivia answers, letting out a heavy sigh and shaking her head. she hardly even wants to say it. “… fine. i’ll help you. again.” she finally looks back up to meet his gaze, her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance already. “i don’t usually ask for anything in return, but for you, i think it’s deserved. aside from food, what are you going to do for me in return?"

one of the songs that she'd have on play a LOT in middle school, in particular between class period breaks when she needed some time to herself. the summer has brought a feeling of nostalgia for her recently, so she's been revisiting this song amongst others that reminded her of that time. a song she puts on while getting ready for the day.

a song that makes her think about her little sister, charlotte, and how they would go and explore the streets of whatever new town they were staying in for however few months. how fleeting the feeling of youthful carelessness is and now she can't help but look back at those days with a tinge of sadness.

call him paranoid, but when people are too agreeable, it makes him question their intentions; probably because he himself, would never be that agreeable. jinyoung knows well that he and olivia are not at all cut from the same cloth (a true relief for her), but he does know that she’s a got a stubborn streak in her — how else could she dedicate herself so deeply to her studies while also putting up with people like him in the deepest depths of the this dungeon of books?

so when she agrees to his proposition, he’s a bit wary. like was this some big brained reverse psychology she was applying on him? probably. well, he was going to take his chances anyways. “alright, then,” he affirms her plan again with a hint of sarcasm as he lumbers towards her and the exit door.

they step out into the broader library floor: rows of shelves and tables and miserable students. honestly a sorry sight to behold. he quickly surveys the floor plan, identifying the stairwell which would take them up to… yet another floor that looks a lot like this one. somewhat reminiscent of one of those platformer games, but exponentially less exciting.

the atmosphere is suffocating, and although spiritually he is screaming, he does have the bare minimum decency to keep his mouth shut to not disturb those around them. at first, he moves slowly, scoping out the vibes and glancing to his side at her. then suddenly, he starts to walk more briskly, long strides putting in work towards the way out.

like what was she going to do to stop him? yell at him? on this floor so quiet that you could hear a pin drop? he thinks not.

the door locks behind them. the game continues—if you could even call it a game, whatever their attempts at trying to outdo the other in some new strategy could be called.

olivia knows she has no choice to keep an eye on him now. which is fine by her—if the soccer team has anything to say about it (and they do. they have plenty to say), she’s meant to be handcuffed to yoon jinyoung’s side with her muji red gel ink pen in hand for the next hour.

what she didn’t expect was for him to start nearly speed-walking towards the library’s exit. really, she should’ve known better with the way he kept glancing over at her as they walked. she blinks as she watches him walk off, calmly following after him with a pace that’s maybe a tiny bit faster than usual for her.

what the hell, jinyoung.

it doesn’t help that he was much taller than her, thanks to his long legs; she couldn’t match his pace like this unless she started running, and she’d rather pass out from low blood sugar than do that in front of the many other students on this floor. no thanks, she’ll save herself the embarrassment.

she finally manages to catch up with him (once she’s no longer on the previous floor, at least), and gives him her best amused glance while crossing her arms when she's at his side once more. “i’m starting to think you actually weren’t joking about the dog part. did you suddenly get excited about getting to stretch your legs?”

she’s actually not upset; she found this attempt to leave a bit more silly than his past ones. trying to leave under the pretense of getting a drink is one thing, directly walking off from her is another. but she shrugs it off regardless, looking up at him expectantly. “so, what kind of coffee are you getting? it must be really good if you want it more than better grades."

she pauses for a second before humming in thought, “also, i think i might take you up on your offer before, but i’ll just get a water though. all that walking made me thirsty.” the smirk on her lips is nothing short of being cheeky, as she quirks her head to the side slightly. "the offer's still on the table, right?"

treat yourself summary: song hera ( @heracules ) and song olivia decide to go to a spa while olivia's staying over for the weekend. … except olivia's never gone to a spa before.

to nobody's surprise, there’s very few environments that olivia finds herself feeling comfortable and at home in: at her favorite study room at sejong library, snuggled up in her bed in her dorm with her headphones and a new book, and at the capella lounge, surrounded by the many trees and plants in the arboretum.

going to one of seoul’s best and fanciest spas was, shockingly, not one of those places.

she had been invited to spend time with her cousin—one fairly popular k-drama actress, song hera. she still remembers the look on sera’s face when she mentioned their relation after catching her watching a show she was on—and their grandparents one weekend during the summer. she was still getting used to seoul a bit, and aside from going to yeonhwa, she did come here in hopes of reconnecting with her family, so of course she’d take them up on their offer to spend time with them.

despite their differences in demeanor and interests, olivia founds herself taking more of a liking to hera the more they spend time with each other. even if she scolded her sometimes for having a tendency to put her work over all else. maybe she’s right, but olivia doesn’t quite want to admit it.

on the last day of their hangout, hera had the great idea to bring her to one of her favorite spas… once olivia had mentioned offhandedly that she’d never gone to one before.

and here they were, in the onju district, just having arrived at the place. ‘rejuvenate your spirit, mind, and body!’ a sign on the door read. olivia knew it was fine; it’s not like anything bad would happen, the day would go just fine.

… but she was still a little shy about the whole thing. maybe it's because she never truly got used to getting comfortable in all-new environments she'd be in for a short period of time, maybe it's because she's gonna be covered in only a robe for a few hours. jury's still out on that.

“okay… looks like we’re here.” she couldn’t even try to sound less wary about it if she tried. she places her tote bag on her shoulder after she gets out of hera’s car, giving her an awkward thumbs up and a weak smile. “girls wellness weekend—" she pauses and glances away, her eyebrows furrowed. “well, sunday.”

that unconvincing smile comes back to her lips afterwards. "wooooo.”

lucas clicks his tongue. tsks. does about all the little noises that puts him in the camp of most annoying man ever. he's proud of it too. in a way a snooty young brat would be proud once the girl whose pigtails he's been pulling at finally stands up to him. it has never been about being liked.

"if this is your idea of flirting, we've got more problems." lucas slides into the seat opposite of olivia and offers up the stack of papers as truce—juuust kidding! he snaps it back, that damn half-smile half-smirk reappearing like he's some tall, dark hotshot protag from a shitty wattpad fic turned new york times bestseller.

he's not, of course. far from.

"you're working too hard, liv. it's summer. don't know if you know that since you've been cooped up in here since the term started." off in the distance, a librarian shushes him. lucas glances over olivia's shoulder, gives them a friendly wave, a boyish smile—he's got his way with the ahjummas; they see him like a local stray. he does lower his voice, though. "but really." his gaze returns to the tutor. "have you eaten? there's this skewer place nearby. my treat, since i still owe you for fixing up my final."

olivia makes a half-assed attempt to reach out for the papers (as in, she just barely held her hand out), sighing and shaking her head once he pulls the stack away from her again.

(she could almost grab him by the shoulders and shake him around, honestly. but she knows that’d just make that shitty smile on his face grow even more. it’s almost like there’s no winning with this guy.)

she clicks her tongue at him this time, not at all impressed by his attempt to show concern over her. “oh wow, i didn’t know you cared so much.” her tone is flat as she speaks, but she lifts her head up to give the librarian a quick apologetic look since she’s the one stuck with lucas right now. she didn’t bring him in here, really.

she raises a brow at what he says next, leveling him with a stare for a moment before responding.

“… do you offer skewers to every person you’re interested in? i'll have to note that.”

truthfully, olivia has no idea what lucas wants from her. all she knows is that, for whatever reason, he’s decided that she is his favorite person at yeonhwa to bother, and that she’s seen him with a different person almost every time she's passed him by while walking to class. put two and two together, and she thinks he has some weird, sadistic crush on her.

or he just really dislikes her, and his bothering is just a way to let out that aggression towards her. 

either could be true at this point to olivia, and any attempt to figure out which is real usually gets blocked by the man in question by some stupid comment or a laugh or whatever else. how frustrating.

“but just for you… my answer is no. my schedule's jammed-pack for the rest of the day, anyway.” she pats her tote bag where her planner was stored, giving him a big, fake smile—all teeth with her eyes narrowed to really sell its ‘please fuck off’ energy. “i guess you'll have to take someone else. i'm sure there's plenty of other people who would be falling over themselves to eat with you.”

a pomo-fucking-what? his jaw visibly drops, eyes narrowing in disbelief as if she’s speaking in a foreign language (probably because she is). as if he didn’t already feel dumb enough, sitting in these ‘mandatory’ tutoring sessions.

he exhales a long drawn out, exaggerated sigh. it’s not surprising that his shallow attempt doesn’t hunt; it’s still equally demoralizing. honestly quite embarrassing to admit, but he’s truly contemplating having to pull the ‘i have to go to the bathroom’ card again — feels like kindergarten all over again, except there’s not even scheduled snack time or nap time. shit, a nap sounds really great right about now. anyways he decides to save that card for another time.

in silence, he stares at her across the table, as if he’s measuring his opponent. the sterile study room feels increasingly like an interrogation room — and clearly he is the suspect under custody in this scenario. five minutes is not enough in his mind. with how deep into the library they are, it’s probably not even long enough to make the trek to the outside, but maybe that’s actually a positive. maybe she doesn’t know that. plus, beggars can’t be choosers. he’ll work with what he can get.

“okay. fine.” spiritually, he actually cringes at himself, at how immature and desperate he is to settle on terms like this. but a man’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. plus, olivia already knows how low he can get; and this is still far, far, far away from his lowest.

he springs up from his seat a little too quickly and groans obnoxiously as he stretches out his lanky limbs, so sick of sitting. “you know, you’re a tutor. not a dog sitter.” yes, he realizes it’s a self-diss at this point; but there’s an impish glimmer in his eye. “but hurry up, let’s go. i’ll let you take me out on my walk.”

olivia’s smug smile only widens into a grin seeing jinyoung’s shocked (annoyed, even?) expression. she has to stop herself from chuckling when the ding-ding-ding! of the timer on her laptop goes off soon after. perfect timing.

she wasn’t the type of person to take fun from someone else’s suffering—that would require her to personally care about disliking someone enough to enjoy their pain—but she was far too used to jinyoung’s attempted escapes that it was almost comical to her. it would be better to her if he could get through one of their sessions without wanting to run off, but there was a small part of her that was curious to know what he would try next time to trick her.

if she was going to be stuck tutoring him, she deserved some fun too.

she knows five minutes isn’t long enough for them to walk away, for him to order the coffee, and then for them to come back, but maybe the longer break away from staring at sentence after sentence could motivate him to some degree. despite her grin, she tilts her head to the side slightly as he stares at her—pretending to be a bit innocent and like she’s not holding him captive for an hour.

“great. good idea.” olivia nods, not even pretending that she wasn’t obviously pleased that he took her up on the offer. she knows good and well that if he left by himself, she wouldn’t see him again until their next session.

she stands up after closing her laptop, zipping it up properly back inside of her bag. she grabs the private room’s key as she looks up at him, raising a brow at what he says. “i guess that’s great news for me, then. i was never able to have a dog growing up.” the quip comes back snappy and without a beat, as always with her.

that grin—a little more playful this time—finds its way back to her lips for a split-second as she goes over to the door, waving him over to follow. “come on, let’s go then.”

mouse breathes a sigh of relief when olivia starts moving - mostly because he's eager to get out of the library, but also because a very small part of him had been truly concerned for her well-being. most people choose to sleep in beds rather than in the library, after all.

"you're fine," he responds, absentminded. to reassure is his default. she had indirectly inconvenienced him, but she couldn't have known that this would happen. his restlessness is evident; he rocks on his heels, waiting for her to seem a little more like she's also ready to get out of here. "i don't work here, so you don't have to promise me anything."

she still looks tired. he can't hold it against her - she has just woken up, but he's always been the type of person who wakes up already at a hundred percent. he wonders how tired she had to be to fall asleep in such a cold, uncomfortable place. ultimately, he decides that it's not his place to ask.

"we should get out of here, though. the librarian's waiting to lock up after us," he tells her. he takes a few slow steps towards the exit, waiting and wanting for her to walk with him.

as an afterthought, he says: "falling asleep in the library is a bad call, though. you try not to do that again and i'll try not to be the sucker who gets sent looking for people like you." it might come out harsh, but he laughs to soften the edges. he's not really mad.

mouse wasn’t wrong by any means by noticing how tired she was; at least 30% of olivia’s brain was still foggy from waking up from her nap, and being surrounded by the darkness of the library so suddenly.

it’s a bit confusing to your brain when you wake up in a dark environment that’s not your own bedroom, and it was hitting olivia hard. she was used to accidentally nodding off in the capella lounge if anything (before immediately waking back up, mind you), but the library was completely new territory she had no plans on napping—more like full on sleeping—at again.

but she nods at what he says, her hand absentmindedly playing with her bag’s straps as they rest on her shoulder. focus, olivia. “… see, now that just makes me feel bad knowing that you don’t even work here.” she clicks her tongue, a small frown on her lips. imagine being a random student and having to find someone you don’t even know when you probably just want to go home.

she starts to follow after him, turning on her phone’s flashlight as well to help them navigate their path better. his harsh words don’t bother her—in fact it makes her snort, her giving a playful eye roll. “that’s fair. i’ll advise you to leave while it’s still daylight out so this doesn’t happen to you again.”

a silence lulls over them for a moment before she speaks up again.

“… so, question. had they really turned off the lights by the time you got up here?” while she wasn’t exactly the most talkative person, she was perplexed by the way the staff had just left the boy to himself on the dark floor. it’s not like there was anything dangerous here (to her. she had no beliefs in the paranormal), but it’s a bit risky, right? “you didn’t bump into any shelves or anything, did you?”

ah, there he is—that motherfucker—leant up against the circulation desk with that stupid, cocky, son-of-a-bitch half-a-smirk that makes it seem like he owns the damn place. and he does. arguably. the fifth floor, at least. on behalf of antares.

he’s up to his usual antics until a little birdie flutters by. a little birdie who happens to go by olivia. olivia song, resident smart aleck, stick-in-the-mud, all work-no play—what is she doing in the library on a lovely summer day? knowing her ( and he likes to think that he knows her well ), she’ll have her nose buried in rough drafts, her pen poised as she annotates the hell out of a poor kid’s paper.

whether or not she’s actually doing that, it doesn’t matter.

like a moth to a flame—or perhaps, more accurately, a snake to its prey—lucas slithers up behind where she’s sitting and drapes himself around her shoulders. “what are you working on?” someone’s essay, no doubt. “is that …” he reaches over and snatches the stack of papers, holding them high above his head as he pretends to read. “‘and so she leant up to kiss edward on his lips.’ … olivia. are you writing twilight fanfiction?” tsk tsk.

olivia can’t really be surprised that this happens. no, she can’t find it in herself to even flinch when she feels that man in her personal space (though there is the quick blink that comes instead. she’ll ignore that movement for her sake.)

her response to his first question comes out as snappy as ever, despite the lack of tone in her voice. she was far too focused to give him more than 20% of her attention, mumbling just barely loud enough for him to hear, “well, aren’t you curious?” not like she’d give him an actual answer; it’s obvious what she was doing, and that should be enough reason for him to leave her alone.

but she shakes her head, sighing and rubbing at her temple with her free hand afterwards. it wasn’t enough that he and his stupid little group of friends in antares had to take up all of this fifth floor so often, lucas had to go out of his way to find her and bother her too? she can only hope that, maybe, if she ignores him well enough, he’ll get bored and go away.

the problem is, that’s the one thing that seems to egg him on even more. he’s like a child, he lives for having someone look at him and play along with his antics, and if they don’t, he’ll find a way to make them. usually by causing some sort of mess.

her full focus finally breaks away from the paper when it’s—well, snatched from her. “lucas.” she mutters, turning in her chair to face him now. olivia doesn’t even give him the pleasure of any further reaction besides rolling her eyes. “you know, you truly have the humor of a twelve-year-old stuck in the year 2010.” really? a twilight joke? she was more of an interview with the vampire girl, anyway.

she holds out her hand now, looking up at him with the most neutral expression she can muster (which wasn’t too hard for her, honestly.) “are you done flirting with me now? can i go back to doing my job?”

how was it possible for someone to get off on being so utterly annoying for no reason?
