They aren’t exactly sure when it started, probably with a prank of some sort, but when Tim and Damian are in meetings of any kind and it’s gets boring, Tim will lay his arm out in front of Damian and give him a texters.
Damian would always refuse at first though eventually an idea would come to mind and he’d want to draw it.
Sometimes he draws simple things like Alfred The Cat or Titus, sometimes it’s more detailed things like a field of flowers or a city skyline. One time he drew the gargoyle he knew to be Tim’s go to resting spot.
Sometimes he draws mandalas or swirling patterns just to have something else to focus on.
Tim takes a photo of everything single one and sends it to Damian, with the younger never acknowledging it but still saving it to a folder on his phone.
The two don’t really talk about it. It’s not something they really want to share with others because it’s one of the rare times they get to just exist around one another without feeling the expectations for them to either get along super amazing well or for them to break out into a physical fight.
It happens during team meetings, family meetings, even the times Tim has Damian with him at work for his shadowing training so he can understand the company better.
What Tim doesn’t know is that it helps make Damian feel calmer. He’s not prone to anxiety, but even after to years of living in America he still finds somethings baffling and giving him a sense of confusion and home sickness, not for the League but for his cultures.
Having something else to focus on stops him from becoming chillingly aware of how different the worlds he belongs to are.
What Damian doesn’t know is that Tim often checks out of meetings because a lot of the time he plans them or is hiding some injury of some kind, and the feeling of Damian running a texter over his skin is so unbelievably grounding. Tim doesn’t want to admit that he dissociates, so he tells himself it’s just to bond with his brother.
What neither of them know is that Bruce sees.
He sees them both and he knows.
He wants to say something to tell them how proud he is of them both for healthy coping mechanisms but is scared to fracture their sacred moments.
