Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed yesterday with a misfire from a prop gun by Alec Baldwin (who, yes, is dealing with the unbearable weight of having accidentally taken a life). I don't understand why real guns are still used as props. Brandon Lee, perhaps the most infamous death from a prop gun misfire, died in 1993. It should only take one time to make drastic changes.

No, I don't know anything about filmmaking and what the technicalities are but if the gun can shoot real bullets, it's not a prop. If the bullets can cause death, they're not props.

My minimal understanding is that the guns are real but the bullets are supposed to be blanks.

The director of the film, Joel Souza, was also injured but I believe he is expected to recover.

I like how the kid pauses their toddler momentum before approaching the cat gently. Like, yes, cat understands that toddler must be treated softly. But clearly, toddler also understands that cat must be treated softly. That’s pretty great.

I love how, despite looking grumpy because of kitty’s face, that cat is actually quite happy at the attention. The squinted eyes, the relaxed posture of the ears, the way kitty just kind of accepts this tiny human nuzzling them. This cat loves this little person, and understands that that kiddo might be a bit awkward but is showing affection.

Also poster above is so right - this kiddo respects kitty and even when snuggling almost on top of the cat, leaves enough space for the cat to get away if needed. A+ on the person who taught this toddler pet respect.
