What do leviathan mers look like in your mind? I’ve envisioned them as these huge creatures, big enough to lift a ship out of the water, with lots of eyes, four arms, sharp claws, sharper teeth, and a bottom jaw that can split open to consume larger prey.

But I also realize that’s usually my go-to for making monster creatures, and I was wonder what *you* imagine when you make these prompts.

I think the deeper the water the leviathans come from the more monstrous they look, while the ones that are near the surface more or less look like giant humans with fish tails.

Mer A is weighed down by tangled nets that have been embedded in their tail, Mer B helps them swim and catch food, feeding and caring for them as they travel.

A shark mer that adopts a dolphin mer, keeping close to the pup despite its need to stay low in the water in order to make sure its safe.

It allows the pup to sleep on it's back, said shark mer keeping it above the surface of the water to breathe during naps and at night.

As it gets older the shark mer stays close/in the area to protect its pup, even when it finds a pod of its own.

A mer many times larger and deadly than the cave mers occupies their underwater cave system. But seeing that the cave mers pose no threat and don't have enough meat on them to satisfy any type of hunger the larger mer leaves them be.

Both the cave mers and the larger mer live together in a truce more than peace. And while it might seem one sided this relationship is beneficial to both parties.

The larger mer keeps the predators of the cave mers away from the cave system, while the larger mer is kept placated by whatever the cave mers are brave and bold enough to do.

Whether that be feeding it portions of their own catches or even cleaning off the older and more worn scales off the larger's tail.

Providing the larger mer is both in a good mood and asleep.

Cave mers, as the name would suggest, are mers that reside typically in underwater caves. (Though a few rare pods have been discovered in caves by the sea that house ocean water.)

They're commonly sited to have pale, washed out features, and white eyes.

Being able to navigate the vast underwater tunnels as fluidly as they have makes them a dangerous adversary to any predators thinking they'd make an easy meal.

Elder jellyfish mers can control their poisons fairly well, enough that other species of mer, if friendly and inclined to befriend the jellyfish mer, can seek shelter within their tentacles like a clownfish within an anemone.

Jellyfish mer can usually change their colors but only slightly, they can just make themselves colored enough to see through the water. Otherwise their transparent bodies are invisible at a distance.

Mers partnered with jellyfish mers will sometimes act as bait, pretending to sleep out in the open, attracting bigger predators to investigate the seemingly easy meal. Only to find themselves as the meal when the jellyfish above said prey finally strikes.

Some Jellyfish mers are bioluminescent, glowing brightly at night. While they usually would be easy meals, some combat this by either being venomous or even a few Jellyfish mer being recorded as partnering with a large pod of mers, the thicker bodies hiding their light from predators and simultaneously serving as a beacon to keep pods together in the darkest of nights.

Jellyfish mers can be found in the hundreds, floating with the ocean's currents. A few will even entangle their tentacles with each other's if they're friendly/close enough so as not to lose them amidst the swarm.

is this blog abandoned? i really like the prompts on here, so im hoping thats not the case, but seeing as the last post was a year ago...

This blog isn't abandoned, real life has just been what it is and this blog is mostly for my free time/fun than anything concrete.

I have been working on prompts that get sent in, they're jsut up as drafts until I get enough info on them to want to post.

I like to give you guys something worthwhile to look at so I'll work on posts and adding info to them as I go and when it gets long enough I'll post them.
