Meet the Assassin Bug nymph — nature’s youngest warlord. But this baby doesn’t hide. It wears the fallen.
After ambushing and draining ants alive, it stacks their empty exoskeletons on its back like armor. One by one. Shell by shell. Until it’s walking beneath a moving pile of corpses.
Why? Because ants are aggressive, and smell plays everything in the insect world. By wearing dead ants, it confuses predators and masks its scent — hiding in plain death.
It doesn’t run. It doesn’t beg. It builds its shield from what it slays.
It’s not hiding. It’s declaring war.

This is a mature female spider of the Nephila genus. I’m not sure the exact species, but members of this genus are also known as “golden silk orb weavers.” Their yellow-orange silk can be used to make golden cloth, like in this tapestry.
The bite of a Nephila isn’t serious. Wikipedia describes the worst case scenario - localized pain or a more severe allergic reaction - but most bitten will only experience a little itching. Like any spider, they only bite in self defense or when forcibly pressed against skin, and these big females are especially docile. I’ve held a related species on two occasions, they don’t scare very easily.
They’re so laid back, in fact, and so insistent on remaining in the same web, that these are the spiders some cultures have used as mosquito guards, deliberately setting them up to spin webs in open windows or over the top of a baby’s crib.
You can trust spiders with babies. Don’t be an asshat about your phobia plz. (By which I mean it’s perfectly okay to have a phobia and be afraid, but you don’t need to hate all spiders and wish they were all dead they didn’t do anything but get born spiders)

My boundary is to stay away please until I feel stable and certain!!!!! My last relationship ended diabolically and then my husband had 50 babies that all turned into birds 😭😭 I am a widow please let me have my normal boyfriend seperate from my insane family until I am ready please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I can still feel myself drinking through my roots and baking in the sun. But all of the bugs on my bark are mine, now, and they don't burrow in or bite. They crawl across my branches and between my thorns and leaves. I can still feel them. But now they keep the biting stingers off. Stop laying eggs in me it's weird and itchy. I have created beautiful little creatures with tiny dextrous hands to pick off any parasites and sharp teeth to devour them. No hungry hungry caterpillars on me it isn't allowed. My bugs eat intruders as well as flying to find nutritious fruits and plants to munch upon before dropping their scraps upon my roots. I remain watered. My soil remains rich.
I also have protective bugs on this body but you don't have to worry about them crawling onto you unless you touch me without permission in which case they will swarm you in a nightmarish wave.
