how did he end up here? it hadn’t been as instantaneous as it felt. he’d been on a long, slow crawl towards desperation for a while now. nothing off the shelves works, doctors refuse to listen. surprising that they didn’t want to write out a quick fix for him, let him stuff his money into the pockets of big pharma. the lack of rest had started to become excruciating. there’s gaps in what lead him here exactly, exhausted blanks in his memory along a string of people directing him elsewhere, but he’s ready to try nearly anything if it means a normal night’s sleep.

“ please. ” foot nudging gently into the door frame, ready to keep it from slamming shut in his face. “ you’ve gotta have something you’d be willing to sell. ”
