Where We Are Now

Because this was less of a we're-working-on-the-game-but-not-updating-the-blog kind of break and more of a we-had-to-go-on-hiatus-because-life-sucks, not much has been done in the way of updates

Jane has been spending whatever time she can spare trying to figure out how to digitally paint so we can produce some legible concept art and hopefully save money by producing our own landscapes.

The Prologue continues to be complete, and Chapter 1 has a complete rough outline (don't worry the chapters are long!).

Expect updates more rapidly, and we'll also be posting screenshots and fanart from the real MH series!

(Re)Introducing Monster Hunter Less Than Three

Rarely do otome fans and Monster Hunter fans’ worlds collide, but that is about to change, my friends!

While you may have seen this before, MH<3 is off of our terribly long hiatus and ready and raring to bring you the highest quality otome game we can possibly offer.

Introducing Monster Hunter <3, an amateur otome game in it’s earliest stages of production. It will be a completely free game once it is made, and accessible for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

While it is an amateur production, we want to make this game as high quality and professional looking as we possibly can, and that’s where you, dear readers, come in.

“Oh no!” I can hear you all saying, “They’re after our money!!!” Not so at all! In fact, right now we’re trying to fund this game by ourselves.

“So why the hell are you telling me about this before it’s even out yet,” you’re saying now, on the assumption you haven’t completely scrolled by this yet. We’re telling you because we need you. Whether it’s just getting the word around, volunteering your talents, giving advice and input, or simply showing interest, you’re help is needed and immensely appreciated.

The Creators -

Jane (Super High School Level Otome Game Protagonist Player) - Completely average at everything else she does, her passion for dating games knows no bounds. She pioneered this project along with her dearly beloved Sampai in frustration at the lack of quality dating games that have been translated. She is completely set on making the West see the brilliant radiance that is otome games, even if she has to hypnotise and/or threaten everyone to get her way actually not procrastinate and finish this project!!! She is a writer and brainstormer for this game and her qualifications are: being an avid otome fan, crying for only 7 hours after completing Hakuouki, winning a poetry contest in middle school, and scoring a 5 on an AP exam (no one really knows what that has to do with anything, but she sure is proud of it!).

Nick (aka Sam, Sampai or The Phist) -Completely enamored with Fire Emblem: Awakening and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, her passion for selling her soul to video games knows no bounds. She pioneered the project this project along with her dearly beloved 3DS in frustration at the lack of skill she has in actually playing it. She is completely set on making this gameand totally not forgetting about it againas well as finishing and releasing it!!! She is an immensely out-of-practice artist and brainstormer for this game and her qualifications are: being an asshole that used Jane’s description as a template for her own, crying for only her entire life at everything, fucking cussing way too goddamn much, once being able to draw well but LOL NOT ANYMORE ISN’T LIFE GREAT LIKE THAT (also she thinks she’s funnier than she actually is but I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed that by now!)

Q Wasn't there another group trying to do this? mhlessthan3?

A. Due to certain unfortunate events plus an incredibly long hiatus, we can no longer access the mhlessthan3 blog. Worry not, though! We are the same team of people!

Q. What is this?

A. This is Monster Hunter <3, that is, an otome game based on the popular Capcom game, Monster Hunter.

This is an amateur non-profit project, meaning that the game is by the people, for the people, and will be 100% free when distributed.

Q. What is an otome game?

A. An otome game - also refered to as an otoge, dating sim, or dating game - is a visual novel targeted at ladies. Otome game literally means lady game! There are a wide variety of otome games even within the genre though: some are quick to play through with cute fluffy stories, while others are heart-wrenching journeys that explore human emotion through an entertainment medium that combines visual effects, sounds, and storytelling.

Q. What kind of otome game will this be?

A. While it will be a challenge, we hope to make this amatuer project the best it can possibly be! Each character’s route will be unique - some will be happy, some will be sad, but we hope to be able to create an abundance of different stories that will cater to nearly every reader’s taste, entertain for hours, and engross the reader in this fantasy world.

Q. You, uh, got kind of passionate when talking about otome games back there. Did you have a specific one in mind?

A. Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan. Or, Hakuoki - Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. It is perhaps not the best introduction to otome games as a whole, but I highly recommend it. It’s even been translated into English if you want to buy it!

Q. Wow, this is great! How can I be a part of this?

A. If you want to apply to be an artist, writer, or composer for the game, please view the bottom of the Team Page to see if we’re currently hiring and who we need! We’ll need sprite artists, background artists, composers, editors, web designors, and perhaps eventually promotional material artists! Even if you can’t do any of the above, we’ll need beta readers. And even if all our beta reader positions are filled up, just telling your friends about it is a huge help! Thanks for the support~ <3

Q. You rejected my offer to become an artist! You must think I suck. :c

A. Not at all! Dating games have a specific look to them - you could be an amazingly talented artist, but not have the style we’re looking for. And that’s okay!!! We may need someone in the future to work on promotional artwork (ala Dynasty Warriors) which can break the style, so please try again then. And even if you don’t make it into either position, we still appreciate every work of fanart drawn for us - it’s an honor! We’ll definitely reblog your fanart so other fans can see your hard work c:
