I find it kind of sad that part of the queer community is making it very hard to make queer media by gatekeeping who can make it or act in it.

Forcing people to come out or label themselves isn't the kind of progressive way of thinking some of y'all think it is. Forcing people to place themselves into neat little boxes isn't helping the cause.

It is funny how people shouldn't be interested on who is fucking who with what genetalia until you are an actor acting in queer media.

I’m actually going insane over Gun Devil: Lady Liberty edition bc her design is fucking crazy

She’s all bones and no guts. Gutless, heartless, only cold and unfeeling bones.

The only flesh on her is her arm muscles, developed by repeatedly performing one action: raising the gun. There is no substance to her besides her right to “bare” arms. She has no hands, she is not able to put down the weapon. Her sole function is to uphold violence.

She has eyes to see and yet she keeps them closed. She has ears to hear, but no hands to cover them. So she cannot avoid hearing all of the cries from all of the people who suffer by her and her mother. But she has no mouth to speak with.

She has no voice. She has no ability to communicate outside of violence. She has no choice.

All she can do is raise the fucking gun.

Deku never evolved beyond punching the bad guy, because the story never forced him to find a different solution.

Deku didn't have to engage with Tomura or even listen to what he was saying because apparently punching the bad guy has the never-seen-before properties of literally shattering his hatred and healing his inner child while conveniently shattering the body of the bad man so we don't need to worry about him anymore. Deku didn't have to contend with the way the failures of hero society end up creating villains because punching the bad guy single-handedly reformed the hearts of the civilians...despite the fact that the heroes have been punching the bad guys since the dawn of time.

The protagonist didn't reflect on his own character and didn't have to grow much as a person because the story didn't challenge him ideologically, only physically. It really sucks because years ago I thought that this story was about the way the protectors of society end up inadvertently perpetuating the broken system because violence doesn't actually solve anything. I thought that Shigaraki was a great villain because he represented problems that can't be solved by punching real hard. Only for the story to deteriorate to become exactly the thing I thought it was supposed to criticize.

This is the hardest thing to stomach for me - that Deku punching ShigAFO/AFOShig/Tomura/TotallyNewPerson was somehow so inspirational that it sent Granny down Redemption lane, made the US president hit the table and generally heralded in a new era, lowered crime rates, ended quirk singularity.

And he's doing nothing different than what All Might did already.
