The next Pokémon film, Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION (a callback to the first ever Pokémon movie) is to be released on July 12, 2019! The film movie is to be Directed by Kunihiko Yuyama & Motonori Sakakibara. A movie trailer is set to be released soon.

Ash had a chance to win this Pokémon catch race, but instead he helps out a berserk Tyranitar that got tangled in ropes thus saving the city from further damage. He still got 2nd place, but this is probably the best 2nd placing you can ever have. It was never about winning…this boy is too good for this world.

a non-exhaustive list of things i know of ash thanks to sun and moon

ash falls asleep in front of the tv, at least during detective lucky episodes

loves pokebase and is quite good at it

knows about marriages and that theyre a happy occasion

is a little critical of photography skills of mis-behaving rotoms

taken in easily by cheating rotomdexes for frustrating school assignments

authority figures are cool until they say mean things about you and your doggo’s friendship

wanted a dark-type z-crystal even though his pokemon don’t really have dark type moves

doesn’t like thinking about sad things, cheers himself up by thinking about something fun or happy

not very good at managing as a cat-sitter

does NOT mind wearing dresses but gets self-conscious about when others do (!!)

has stage fright quite a lot!!!

blushes when other people are happy or make him happy or give him good advice that TOUCHES HIS SOUL

appreciates soft and round things

*put-upon sigh* has a.. tendency to wiggle his butt to his pokemon

LOVES pokemon-themed shirts and has to have them all. they’re all his pyjamas. he has more pyjama variety than daytime clothes???

!!! OR! his striped daytime shirt functions as his “uniform”… although he came to alola for a vacation in that outfit… so what’s the truth.jpg

maybe it just became his chosen uniform when he discovered that he could have millions of cute shirts to wear at home (at kukui’s)

The best part is, a couple of these are honestly consistent traits we’ve known since the beginning (Satoshi/Ash played baseball back in his school days, according to Takeshi Shudo’s novelizations ;3;), Satoshi’s stage fright was shown in many scenes in OS (most notably in DJ Mary’s first episode where they do a radio show!) and consistently shows up (he freezes up early into recording a movie with Luke for the first time in BW!), he’s the only one who knows how to run in a dress among the BW! trio, the croquettes were mentioned as his favourite food by Dent/Cilan during BW!…

But yeah, honestly, the relaxed, home-and-school setting gave us a chance to see more into how he lives his everyday life in ways we never got before. We’re getting to know him as a human being, not just a Pokemon trainer! Sun & Moon’s usual storylines (adventure/myth and more high-stakes arcs not withstanding) might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but this is the sort of stuff I always wished we got to better understand the human characters in Pokemon. The Pokemon anime often does have really fun and interesting characters, but with the focus so often on the journey and Pokemon (well, yeah), we didn’t get to see much of this stuff.

This? This is the good stuff about a slice-of-life take on Pokemon.

yeah! i remembered how some of these things were a thing in other seasons, which is why is specified a lot of them that he’s proud of making sandwiches or he’s happy to wear a dress! until sun and moon wearing a dress was something he was very apprehensive about, but in sun and moon he put it on by himself. i genuinely forgot about the great radio drama episode, though!! and the movie production episode!! i imagined he powered through the fear with bravado or something similiar, instead of displaying freezing up or tenseness and trepidation like in sumo, but yes!! those were great examples! (omg i love those episodes, i love him, thank you for reminding me!!)

sun and moon really has become my fave thanks to its focus on character, and showing us character beats that haven’t been in a lot of spotlight before, and then twisting their own established tropes around, to make a lot of really good jokes and interesting episodes about the mundane things in pokemon world. and then giving a lot more moments for ash to shine as a character in a way i’ve been missing for a while..
