Descarada’s Refuge in Lettonhove -- takes place in Jaskier’s Court! Geralt and Ciri are on the run and only the nobleman Jaskier can offer them safe refuge... but for how long?? 

The Drug, The Dark, The Light, The Flame by longing-and-heartache-and-lust. One night after a hunt, a wounded Geralt comes across a strange mansion that belongs to a mysterious Jaskier...

Mikey shook his head, cradling his face in his hands as though he could wash away his brothers stupidity if he couldn't see it.

"Oh. My God. Don't be a fucking idiot right now. How the fuck are you supposed to help me if you. Are. Dead?"

He spat out the last words like daggers. Gerard shrugged. Mikey was jumping to the worst possible outcome that might not even happen...

"You'll get the money they send. It's like, a hundred thousand for dying in a suit, on the job. You'd be set. Why are you even bringing that up?"

Mikey stared at them, disbelieving. "I can't talk to you. I can't fucking talk to you right now-- Hey! Don't--!"

Mikey grunted, hobbling with his good leg towards Gee, who'd started walking towards their apartment door.

But at the sound of Mikey in pain, they stopped. They watched their brother with his missing limb, dragging himself out of the chair, reaching for the wall, then the couch, as he desperately hobbled towards Gee.

The urge to vomit rose up in their throat.

They did that. They didn't keep him safe.

They rushed to his side, but Mikey pushed them away, furious. Still unaccustomed to the uneveness of this new, damaged body, the force of it made Mikey lose his balance. He flailed, forced to fall back, hard, onto the couch. He groaned in pain as he sunk down, one sharp inhale followed by a buried scream.

Gerard felt like they were actually going to be sick. They choked it down.

The only sound was Mikey's ragged breaths as he trembled on the couch, face buried in the pillows.

"Mikey," they tried, "I'm going to do it. It's only five years. I might get grunt work for most of it. We'd be set, we can pay off your hospital bill, keep the apartment -- tell me any other job that can do that for us, in that short of a time. Tell me."

Silence. Mikey was still, obviously exhausted and fighting through the last waves of pain. He said nothing for a while, breathing heavily into the cushions.

Then came a muffled, "I'll find something. Something I can do from home, you can get extra hours--"

But Gerard had already done the math. Had explained it all already. Mikey was grasping at straws that simply didn't exist.

There was no other option that could dig them out of this capitalist fucking hell hole.

Gerard was going to apply to be a pilot in the morning.
