I think that if the world expanded just by 5cm total circumference, a beautiful, glittering wound could open up just for me, in just about the right shape for my body, and at just the right temperature. And inside, impressive concentric circles would be present, in uneven, blobby shapes like those you find in geodes. Smooth and wobbled, the great polished surface of an imperfect slice of rock. Like cutting into a cake. Neat. One slice. But it's the Earth, torn open in one ragged line. Just the place for me.
