for all the people that are struggling to come to terms with the good omens finale and what it means for the fandom (myself included), i really really want to stress that you will not lose anything you don't want to lose because of it.

Evidence of Attraction, a Good Omens human AU story.

For Aziraphale, working as a paralegal at a prestigious law firm is an exercise in endurance. Trapped under a tyrannical boss and sequestered in the gloomy basement library, his only bright spot is the view from afar of Anthony J. Crowley—the firm's rising star defense attorney who is brilliant, devastatingly handsome… and arrives to office functions with a gorgeous woman on his arm.

But when their professional orbits collide, they fall into an unexpected, after-hours friendship that quickly becomes a delicate form of torture. Aziraphale is acutely aware that he is in danger of falling deeply, irreversibly in love with a man who could never return his feelings—no matter the evidence otherwise that his lonely heart imagines.

Set against the backdrop of 1970s San Francisco, this is a story of hidden desires, office chemistry, and what happens when two men find exactly what they’ve been looking for behind closed doors.

I am posting this today in honor of St. Constantine's day which tickles me to no end, and hope you enjoy another story of these wonderful characters choosing each other yet again. (Also, wahoo for finishing a WIP I started 5 years ago! 🥳)

A postmortem edit I made of Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship using all the seasons and a little something extra. I started working on this before the finale, actually, and so it became a way to work thru my big feelings about the whole thing, too. Huge spoilers for GO3 in the video and description below. A bit of a rant below as well, but it explains my choices for making this. Overall it was therapeutic to make this, and I hope it is half as enjoyable for you to watch as it was for me to create.

I used a combination of the Priest's monologue from Fleabag and the "I will always love you" rendition from Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte (iykyk SOB). I felt the juxtaposition was fittingly heartbreaking for how this show ended. For those that haven't seen Fleabag, it also touches upon a romance halted by both outside and internal forces, but in a different way. (Though the parallels are really something.) Relistening to the Priest's words about love after the GO3 healed something in me that broke when I watched the finale initially. The ethos of the "Love Hurts" monologue feels targeted at both Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship AND how we all feel after closing the chapter that is Good Omens.

To love is to be vulnerable to hurt, to be messy, to be misunderstood: it can genuinely be the most painful thing we will ever experience! And yet, we can't help ourselves. Not only that, we cannot imagine a life without love. With Good Omens 3, I felt myself very split on how to feel, and I am trying to hold off on spewing all of my opinions about it storywise. That isn't what this is about: it's about how I felt after watching it. And I did feel heartbroken. For Crowley and Aziraphale's sacrifice, for the fans losing beloved characters, for the way the show had to end with a movie instead of a full TV show due to that man, for the way queer romance in media still ends so bittersweetly time and time again even in comedies, for director Rachel Talalay working on a tragic love story as she was actively losing her partner (i genuinely cannot imagine the grief), and for Terry Pratchett, who I wish were still here to make us laugh and cry with his storytelling gift.

And yet, as the Priest says: it takes great courage, to love. And we shouldn't do it alone. So I made this video to share that thought, and to push forward the idea that love, vulnerability, and the pain that come with are all worth it. Loving art this deeply is worth it. The moments of joy, reciprocation, and growth that love provide bring us to greater heights than we ever could achieve alone. Every piece of art I feel THIS drawn to makes me stronger. And ultimately I have a hint that Aziraphale and Crowley, no matter the ending of GO3 you ascribe to, would agree.

The more I think about it, the more I believe the divide in the Good Omens fandom right now is a philosophical one.

We’re asking, where does the soul live?

For those who think that who we are is shaped by a life time of experiences. That we grow and change with each each heartbreak and trauma. We see the ending as something horrible. We’re witnessing the death of our beloved characters and we are grieving for them.

For those who believe in a soul, who believe that Asa and Anthony are Aziraphale and Crowley because of the something intrinsic that lives inside them, what they’re seeing is a rebirth and a second chance. In that sense the ending is beautiful. They both get exactly what they’ve always wanted. To live as humans without the pressure of heaven and hell. In that sense, the ending is a joyous one.

Sadly these beliefs are deeply held, often the roots begin as far back as our childhoods. No amount of screaming at each other about media analysis is going to change anyone’s mind. Please just accept that there are multiple ways that one can view the ending and that those who are upset are experiencing grief. This is an extremely normal and valid reaction to end of something so meaningful and should be treated with care.

That said, your grief is not an excuse to lash out and those who don’t deserve it.

Be kind to each other.

Aziraphale and Crowley's last kiss explained (by a European) ✨❤️

I shall jump straight to the point: people online did NOT seem pleased with Aziraphale and Crowley's last kiss. However, unlike them, i believe this was a deeply meaningful, touching and romantic moment for us to see and i thought I'd give my two cents about it too.

For starters: this was an APOLOGY kiss. That's right people, not a simple "I love you" or "I like you back" kiss but a PROPER apology kiss. Aziraphale reaches for it first, it's the first thing that comes to his mind when he realizes this might actually just be the last time they ever get to see each other. He wants to start over, do it better, and in order to do that he needs Crowley's forgiveness for everything that has happened in the past few years for things to finally be RIGHT.

He also touches his lips the same way he did when he first got kissed by Crowley at the end of season 2, except this time he does it to "give it back". It simbolizes Crowley's feelings being reciprocated, a tender act of apology for not kissing him back the first time but finally doing it right this time. He no longer thinks of that touch to his lips with sorrow or hatred or confusion, but rather as an answer, as something beautiful, as the love he's always felt but could never find the courage to openly reciprocate until now.

As for a possible additional meaning, here in Europe a kiss given by the fingertips can symbolize many things. One of them is "farewell" (and given the context of this scene i might add this kiss was the perfect choice), it's a sign of respect and profound admiration, it's a tender act to say goodbye in a polite and innocent way: it's pure, just like them.

Additionally, in my country, a kiss by the fingertips is most commonly known as a religious act, a sign of devotion and adoration done to the feet of sacred statues and holy sculptures; it symbolizes complete submission to our deepest love for the holy and to surrender to the greatness of the saint we behold, to give them our complete and undoubted faith.

it's loyal, It's devoted and faithful, It's endlessly filled with love and respect, it's playful and innocent but also clever and bold: it represents Aziraphale PERFECTLY. ❤️

i believe we were very lucky to be able to see the different ways these two characters express their love for one another, we get to see how Crowley expresses his love through a kiss and we get to see how Aziraphale does it in his own way. They both come straight from the heart, both dripping with need and affection and love, but each in their own, unique ways.

Their kiss is THEM, it's a reflection of what they think of one another, how they see each other, and how they perceive their relationship. And i think it's the single most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a very, VERY long while.
