These guys lived together in Cerise Lab the entire series so in fairness the whole POST could be based on that 😭 but I picked out specific scenes which I thought were too wholesome to push aside into that!
STARTING WITH THIS SCENE WHICH OMG I'VE NEVER ANALYSED FULLY BEFORE
I love how the first thing he notices is goh being missing from his bed, and he looks grumpy enough waking up aw by his alarm 😂 smt about Grookey curled in on himself on his own is so sad man help
OKAY IDK WHAT IT IS ABOUT THIS SHOT BUT. It just looks so domestic and wholesome?? 🥹🥹 Like, the light streaming down into Goh's work and Ash like sat up watching him with their pokemon close by too...they're just like a little family 😌
Literally at the idea of Goh now he's suddenly FULLY AWAKE AND walking towards him. He could've easily just called him again or went back to sleep. Like have you seen this guys incapbility to get up in the morning surely that says smt right that he's decided to go up to him (I'll ref this later)
AND Ash's little concerned face as he stands there🥺🥺 he normally only shows that for goh when he looks upset or worried, but Goh is literally eagerly writing away—so maybeee he's just concerned from Goh not replying to him?? they're so cute omg. 🫠 in fairness goh has to be pretty absorbed to not hear Ash's alarm, Ash calling his name, AND walking up behind him 😂
OKAY THIS IS THE THING I WANTED TO REF REAL QUICK:
I couldn't help but think these linked, so fast forward a few episodes, this is the morning after ash won against Leon (🤧) the EXACT same cut scene happens of these pokemon floating outside their room...
then ash is sleeping in that same position more or less, getting woken up by his annoying phone yet again lol, but not with an alarm this time... (and with the trophy in place of where goh was before in the scene I'm actualy talking about, in Ash's eyeview essentially)
BUT WHEN HE REALISES HIS PHONE IS ACTUALLY GOH CALLING...
his entire face lights up immediately and suddenly he doesn't seem so tired anymore at all, he even wakes pikachu up too lol. the same thing happens in the scene I just spoke about, (that his usual sleepiness just goes at the idea of goh) and idk, I just thought it was interesting esp as it parallels sm 🥰
(anyway back to the scene at hand) "Goh!"
Goh gets jumpscare so easily hes so silly 😂
btw this is a random comment but I thought the animation was so pretty in this entire scene overall, which was actually kinda an unnecessary scene in itself. It kinda tells me how much even the writers (rightfully) valued their relationship like they felt the need just to show how close they are... 🤧 Which makes sense because their little moments have the biggest impact 💯🥰
I FRICKING LOVE HIS FACE SHIFT. 🥺 He does this little chuckle before he starts speaking it's so sweet 😙 it's interesting how the camera stayed on his face even when Goh began to speak, and like can we just agree that face is with fondness you don't see facially from Ash a lot 😌 if you remember that scene where goh screams down the phone in the darkest day arc, Ash pulls this EXACT SAME EXPRESSION, and even when he's holding Goh's hand in the gulpin ep, after Goh's like, 'yeah but still...' 😭
it's like he's saying here 'of course you were up early...' 🥰

Isnt is adorable how even though Goh's brought his phone back down to him out of Ash's view, Ash still is showing interest and wants to hear more by leaning over what he's doing. They're so supportive of each other stop ittt 🥹🥹

I love their nighttime conversations, something about them and nighttime is literally PERFECT (if u know my ao3 then CouGH clearly conveyed 💀)
Also isn't it perfect the little details like how Ash's slippers are like a little discarded to the side and Goh's are neatly tucked under his bed. Like perfect personality reflectors lol even the way they're both lying down

I wish wish we had more little moments where we got insights to the silly games and things they do in their spare timee 😭🥳 I DO NOT want to compare dynamics with other companions like in a bad sense at all bc they all had special friendships with Ash in their own ways, but smt about Goh and Ash is just puts Ash as lot more free and lighthearted than we see him with others 🥺

and the sub saying 'I wish goh were here too??" i love the implications how now he's in a luxury room on his own and without goh (the very neat bed beside him saying that) , he thinks about him which is extended to Goh calling him a few seconds later (thinking about him too 🥹) he's so used to being so domestic with goh all the time I'm dead
