He managed to startle Jinyoung, which he considered an achievement. He grinned sheepishly when his friend noticed his badly wrapped arm. It seemed as though his doctor instincts had kicked in then as the other moved automatically to try and wrap his arm up properly.
Honestly, he didn’t do a lot of risky things, so there was a finite number of answers he could give. Recently though, it seemed as though it was always the same answer. He winced a little as the skin
tugged around his wound, “Aggressive client had a knife on him.” He wasn’t exactly at the point where he could defend himself from a knife fight with just his hands. Maybe that was worth asking Doyoung about, though if he was getting his ass beat with just hand-to-hand combat training, he doubted he would want to see what his ‘trainer’ would do with a knife in hand.
He pressed his lips together, more serious now, “How bad is it?” he wondered out loud. He needed stitches, no doubt, but he hoped the recovery time wasn’t too long. It was also a small blessing that it was his left hand and not his dominant one.
his worried expression quickly turned into a frown hearing jaebum’s words. he didn’t miss having to deal with these types of wounds when he was in the syndicate, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t tend to them. especially for jaebum. jinyoung couldn’t leave his friend with a bloody arm. no hospital would treat him if they heard the truth, and he doubted they would believe one of jaebum’s lies ( it depended on how convincing it sounded, though ).
‘ maybe next time you should bring a knife too, ’ his hands still moving to wrap the bandages around his arm, trying to make it tight on his arm, but not tight enough to hurt jaebum. of course, he didn’t know how much experience jaebum had with a knife, or how much experience he even had with his hands ( he assumed his skill level was high, though ).
he made a small noise to tell jaebum that he was thinking before responding. when he finished bandaging jaebum’s arm, he stepped back, hands on his hips, giving jaebum a look. ‘ it looks like you’ll have to stay away from clients for a while, ’ his eyebrows raised, ‘ and i mean it, jaebum. you’re in no condition to meet with your clients. not with the possibility of this happening again, okay? ’
remember (jy&hc)
—- himchanmi.
in all the years he’s been attached to syndicate like a puppet, he has seen members come and go—but once they were gone, they were typically never seen again. and what ever happened to them wasn’t easy information to find either, so meddling wasn’t worth much time…especially if it would cause issues as a current member.
but how is he suppose to ignore a familiar face when he sees one? granted, he could remind himself that faces of the past were “dead” to the group, whether they were or not. but himchan had always had a bit of difficulty just ignoring things outright.
especially when he thought the figure in his line of sight had more than likely been dead for a little over a year.
in public, life was more simple when he had one job to take care of; being a long term librarian assistant trying to get more outreach to the local library…and so this possibly couldn’t hurt, could it?
he has pamphlets in his hands of information of all the summer activities the library is either hosting or partaking in, and he can only hope the friendly smile on his lips shows that he means no harm. even in his words, he tries to give them a new approach (after all, it’s a lot better than where the hell did you go? what the hell happened?). “excuse me, sir, may I have a moment of your time?”
@mijr
there’s a soft smile on his face as he talks to one of his patient’s family member. a mother worried about her son who was rushed to the emergency room after getting hurt during his sports activity. he was reassuring her that her son would be perfectly okay, and to keep him away from sports ( he knew some kids didn’t listen ). after explaining to her the types of precautions she should take and that he’d like to follow up after a few weeks, she was taking her son home.
his attention is taken away from a semi-familiar voice, turning his body to face the person. his smile drops, frown forming on his features. he recognizes him from his time at the syndicate, a time he would prefer not remembering. the male’s face was familiar, but jinyoung couldn’t put a name to it ( could you blame him, though? ). he was sure he had seen the man before, probably something in his features that stuck out to him when he was stitching some sort of wound he had.
‘ sorry, but i do not, ’ his tone is slightly harsh, trying to brush the man off. he didn’t feel like talking to someone from the syndicate, probably to tell him how he made a mistake by leaving, or maybe they would come back for him. but, jinyoung’s words weren’t really a lie. he was slightly busy to check up on different patients. he crossed his arms, whispering, ‘ i know why you’re here, and i don’t want to hear it. ’

—- joohyunmi.
@mijr !
sometimes, joohyun wonders how she gets herself into these situations. an extrovert at heart, she has no hesitations wandering up to an old friend whilst he talks among strangers to her and slapping him on the ass in greeting. when he turns around, she discovers it’s not who she thinks it is, and her cheeks colour pink because I just embarrassed the both of us in front of a group of his friends but they exchange numbers and joohyun leaves a strange encounter with a new friend. seems straightforward, right? she’s happy to have a new friend who’s already seen her do something utterly atrocious so probably won’t be surprised to find her in a club one night drunkenly dancing to her heart’s content.
except, nothing’s really that simple, because jinyoung is of course a multi-dimensional human being like the rest of us, and when he calls at 3am one night and joohyun answers assuming it’s going to be a drunken plea to hang out, it’s not that, it’s actually far deeper and she takes it upon herself to text him the next morning to arrange a late evening coffee trip to talk things through.
warming her hands against the mug, she waits for him to arrive. she’s a little early, having wanted to get out of the apartment before her roommates began their questioning. she doesn’t mind waiting, though. the atmosphere in the cafe is calm, quiet and she feels at peace. a little worried about her new friend, but otherwise, at peace.
this wasn’t something that jinyoung usually did. he wasn’t usually the type of person to drink his feelings away. but when he got a call from his dad that night, asking jinyoung for help, asking jinyoung to come home, he couldn’t contain all the emotions that was bottled up. he was angry, he wanted to tell his dad to never call him again. yet, when he started talking to him, he wasn’t able to say ‘ leave me alone ’. a part of jinyoung wanted to push aside what happened when he was younger, letting their relationship start over again, maybe for the best. his conversation with his dad started out soft, talking about what happened, slowly going into the topic of jinyoung’s mother, which turned the whole conversation around.
it seemed like a lie when jinyoung thought that he actually had a civil conversation with his dad at first. but after arguing with his dad for thirty minutes, he was sure that his dad didn’t really want him home, just needed whatever money jinyoung would provide. he drowned himself with alcohol that night, just wanting to forget. forget about his relation to his dad, forget about the conversation they had, forget about the pain that it left in his heart. it was never that easy, though. the moment he started drinking, the feelings were heightened and he felt like he was going to explode.
his urge to want to talk to someone overcame him, checking his phone contacts ( very slowly because making out each name was harder than he thought ). his finger stops over a name he’s not very familiar with. ‘ joohyun? ’ he’s not really sure if he’s met someone with that name, but he decides to call the number anyway. the conversation isn’t very memorable for him, only certain parts clear in his mind when he wakes up the next morning, seeing texts from the person who he unintentionally poured his feelings to.
he’s nervous after accepting the coffee invitation. what will she say? what does she know? he wanted to back out, but he also felt bad for changing plans last minute. so he stood in the café, scanning the faces of the people there at such a late hour. he spots her, suddenly remembering that she slapped him on the butt their first meeting, mistaking him for someone else. as if it couldn’t get more embarrassing, jinyoung thought. he walks towards her, taking the seat across from her. ‘ uh... sorry for making you wait. ’
Aww
‘ send me a… ’ —- take selcas using cute filters with your muse ( 17 ) // not accepting !
‘ maybe this one? ’ he pressed on one of the filters from the SNOW app, trying to take a selca with one of his friends. he usually didn’t use filters when he took selcas but because this was one of his close friends when he was a child, he liked to use the silly ones with him. he clicked on filters that made them look ridiculous with grab faces to food faces. noticing his friend’s younger brother in the room, he quickly called him over. ‘ doyoungie ! ’ his hand gestured for him to come over, clicking on one of the cuter filters. ‘ let’s take a selca, ’ he held the phone out more, clicking the button to take a picture.
"whoops"
‘ send me a… ’ —- call your muse by the wrong name ( 3 ) // not accepting !
his feet moved quickly across the tiled floor of the hospital. it was busier than usual, and expected, for the hospital. but then again, it was always a mystery why the hospital was quiet on some days. it was always random, no one could predict when they would get hurt and need to pay a visit to the emergency room. a part of him hated having people wait to be treated, but some people had more alarming cases compared to others ( but him and the other doctors always tried their best to get to them quickly ).
‘ miss doyeon, ’ he stopped in front of the lady, looking at her, ‘ we’re-- ’ he was stopped by one of the nurses who quickly passed by and told him that the person he was talking to was not the “miss doyeon” he addressed and told him she was a “miss hyoyeon”. a slight pink rose to his cheeks, giving a bow to the woman, ‘ my apologies, miss hyoyeon, ’ taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, ‘ we can go and check you out now. ’
ouch
‘ send me a… ’ —- help your muse stitch up a wound ( 1 ) // accepting !
‘ stay still, ’ he instructed, his hands moving to start cleaning the wound. this was one of the many times he had had to stitch up a wound, none of the previous times that recent in his career. the sight made him wonder how she had even gotten hurt, or why she was even hurt in the first place. after he cleaned the wound, he moved to grab the stitching thread and needle. ‘ this might hurt a little, okay? ’ his voice was soft, making sure that she was ready for the pain that was to come.
as he began stitching her wound, he began to make conversation. he knew that for some people, the pain was more bearable when their mind was taken off of the subject causing the pain. he hoped talking about anything that came to his mind would help, but he found it harder than he expected to find a subject for them to talk about. ‘ so... did you hear about the new shop that’s opening soon? ’

Jinyoung answers the phone, his reply sounding fairly nonchalant. Good, no suspicions so far. Part of it was because he didn’t want to prematurely worry his friend, and the other part was because he was being an asshole and wanted to see Jinyoung’s face when he found out. What were friends for, after all?
After telling his undeserving friend in his most normal voice that the park was fine, Jaebum hung up and told the driver to make a stop at a drug store and to go buy a small emergency kit before driving him to the park. Things like this just showed Jaebum how much money could be a motivator. Wrapping the gauze around his arm as best he could to just slow the bleeding, he slumped in the backseat, exhausted. He didn’t bother wrapping
He arrived at the park soon afterwards. Getting out of the car, he signaled for the driver to stay there, just in case he needed ride elsewhere. It probably wasn’t the best idea to get patched up in a park anyways. He approached the only other figure at the park, creeping up behind him, “Boo!” he grinned, one hand still pressed against his cut-up forearm. It dawns on him now, that he’s not even properly bandaged up. His arm looks like a poor imitation of a mummy costume with toilet paper more than it does an actual attempt to stop bleeding.
the ride to the park was uneventful to say the least. jinyoung’s brief time with the driver was too short for any sort of real conversation. after he arrived to his destination, he thanked the driver and paid them, leaving some tip for their work ( especially since it was pretty late ). taking a moment to breathe in the fresh air, enjoying the feeling of the peaceful night in the park.
if it were daytime, no doubt there would’ve been more people. it was unusual for the park to be so empty, in jinyoung’s opinion ( he found the crowdedness a little refreshing ). the silence and emptiness that filled the park made part of jinyoung uneasy. he knew better than to let his guard down. walking towards a better area where jaebum would probably see him well ( as well as you could at night ).
the sudden sound coming from behind jinyoung made him jump, turning towards the suspect. ‘ jaebum, are you kidding me? ’ he scolded, hands on his hips and a frown on his face. his expression changed quickly, though, upon seeing jaebum’s condition, the improperly wrapped gauze around his arm, most likely not helping stop the bleeding of his arm. ‘ what happened? ’ he questioned, hands moving to grab the bandages, trying to wrap it properly.
—- mijaehyung.
he can barely even register what the doctor is telling him, this is how out of it he is.
he’s only out of it because he’s been in this hospital for less than a day and he knows all his current and future dreams are destroyed. his left hand is in such a thick cast, so different from his right hand. after he heard about how a car ran it over, he’s just accepted his fate. playing the guitar would be over. hacking is surely over. hell, even overwatch and league would be impossible for him now. what can you do in the korean workforce with a broken, shattered hand? nothing. you remain a useless member of society.
but when the doctor asks what happened, his anxiety spikes. ekg signals rising, his heart beat slamming against his chest. he feels constricted. he can’t breathe. he can’t say a goddamn word. or maybe he shold and just finally die. there was no point in living if he didn’t have his guitar by his side.
“i-I,” he starts, voice rough and failing him due to the thick bruises covering his entire throat.even speaking made him feel nausous, regardless of the anxiety that was completely built up in his chest. tears spring to his eyes and he just shakes his head, wincing and coughing at his throat stings and burns.
“i-I d-don’t remember…” he lies.
eyebrows knit together in confusion ( and concern ) at jaehyung’s condition. ‘ don’t talk if it hurts... ’ he paused, grabbing paper and a pen, ‘ you can write down what you want to say to prevent anything worse happening to your throat. ’ he assumed the reason why jaehyung was crying was because of how much it must’ve hurt to speak. the bruises on his neck were something unusual to jinyoung, and it put an uneasy feeling in his stomach.
‘ ah... you don’t remember? ’ his voice was laced with a hint of doubt, how could he not remember how he got hurt? there was no record of any sort of head trauma that could cause possible memory loss. and claiming that he had a bad memory was absurd in jinyoung’s opinion, how could you forget something like this?
‘ mr. park if you feel uncomfortable talking about this, you don’t have to, ’ he started, voice soft in attempt to calm any nerves jaehyung could’ve been feeling, ‘ it would just help me determine the situation. ’ a nod, ‘ but like i said, if you’re uncomfortable, i won’t force you to tell me anything. ’ it was his job as a doctor to make sure the patient was comfortable, and even though the curiosity of how jaehyung got into such a condition, he couldn’t force him to say anything.
‘ alright... do you have any specific concerns you want me to address first? ’
"aww"
‘ send me a… ’ —- watch your muse doze off while watching tv ( 5 ) // accepting !
there was supposedly a professional relationship between hyungwon and jinyoung ( there should’ve been a professional relationship ). with him at hyungwon’s sort of mentor at the hospital, so the scene would’ve seemed weird to many of jinyoung’s co-workers. why wasn’t jinyoung doing his job as a mentor and watching the person that he was assigned to teach? it seemed unprofessional on his part, which would make some people look down on him because of it.
some people were nicer than others, one of the nurses telling him that the student was in one of the offices watching something on the tv. the information made jinyoung sigh, not at hyungwon’s actions, more at his own for leaving hyungwon alone ( not that he didn’t trust hyungwon, but it was not a part of his job to look over the student ).
his body moved quicker than usual to find which office hyungwon was at before hearing the soft sound of the television in the distance. he walked until the sound from the tv was close, checking the office where the sound was coming from. sure enough, jinyoung found hyungwon’s figure hunched over watching some old show on the monitor. before he walked over to tell hyungwon that they should get back to work, he saw hyungwon’s eyes drooping ( most likely from lack of sleep ).
‘ ah... ’ he whispered, backing up away from the almost sleeping figure. he didn’t want to bother hyungwon’s slumber, especially since he was a college student who probably didn’t catch that many hours of sleep because of exams and such. ‘ i’ll just tell the nurses, ’ he told himself, turning to walk out of the room, shutting the door softly behind him.
Awwww
‘ send me a… ’ —- have their cheeks pinched by your muse ( 12 ) // accepting !
a sharp pain made its way through jinyoung’s cheeks, eyebrows moving slightly, forming a confused expression on his face. ‘ exubuhse me, ’ his speech was slightly messed up due to the pinching of his cheeks, grabbing jaehyung’s hands and moving them away from his cheeks. he rubbed at his cheeks ( he hated getting his cheeks pinched – they hurt ). ‘ that was unnecessary and uncalled for, just saying, ’ he looked at the other man with a frown. it happened out of the blue, which left jinyoung confused as to why jaehyung had even pinched his cheeks in the first place ( were they even at that level in their relationship? )
‘ how would you feel if i did it to you? ’ his hands reached over to jaehyung’s cheeks, pinching them and stretching them out ( but in the softest way possible, he didn’t want to hurt jaehyung too much ). jinyoung did this for a minute before pulling his hands away, ‘ doesn’t feel great, huh? ’ he crossed his arms, ‘ don’t pinch my cheeks again please. ’

Jaebum coughed a little, wincing. Goddamn. Why was it that his clients seem to be getting more and more aggressive? Or maybe he was just getting worse at fighting. No, that couldn’t be it. He was getting beat comparatively less by Doyoung, so that couldn’t be it. Still, it hadn’t stopped him from getting his arm slashed and getting brutally kicked in the ribs by his client’s bodyguards. He’d probably also have a multitude of bruises by morning. He supposed he was lucky he didn’t get worse injuries… though as he thought about it, his fingers started getting wet from the blood coming out from his forearm. Goddamit.
He wasn’t going to a hospital with a knife wound. No, there would be whispers, and there would be questions. Headquarters was a possibility, but he wasn’t fond of some of the people there, and their sneers were not something he wanted to face. So he called a driver and got in a few minutes later.
Once inside, he scrolled through his contacts to find the one he wanted. Pressing the dial button, he lifted the phone to his ear with his good arm, “Jinyoung-ah,” he greeted as though nothing much was wrong, “Where are you? Let’s hang out.”
@mijr
he was just finishing work when he got a call from jaebum. in fact, making his rounds for the patients there, asking most of them how they were feeling and reminding them to take whatever medication they were given ( if they were given any ). he moved fairly slow going through each room and talking to each patient that he was assigned to, being extra sure that everyone was feeling alright for anything upcoming the next day. when he got to the last person, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.
‘ ah, i’m sorry, let me take this, ’ he bowed to the patient, stepping out of the room for more privacy. he hadn’t checked who was calling him, but when he accepted the call, he heard the familiar voice of a good friend of his, jaebum. ‘ ah, jaebumie, ’ he greeted back, ‘ oh, i’m at the hospital right now. just finishing rounds for right now then i’m off. ’ his eyebrows scrunched up at the request, ‘ uh... okay. lets meet up at the park? ’ he suggested.
after his phone call with jaebum, jinyoung made his way back into the room to check up on the last patient before signing out from his shift. he waved goodbye to the receptionists and any other doctor or nurse he passed by on his way out. he didn’t usually drive to work ( mostly because he didn’t bother to buy a car ), usually taking a taxi to work and back home. but, since he had made last minute plans to meet with jaebum, he called a taxi and asked to be taken to the park.
—- new opportunities // @mixhyungwon
there was one thing he noticed when he walked through the hospital doors that morning. unfamiliar faces were talking to his colleagues, many dressed like they were ready to work in the hospital. students, he assumed, from some of the colleges. he remembered doing this once when he was in medical school, shadowing one of the doctors ( or nurses ). he assumed most of the students that were talking to other doctors and nurses were already assigned to them. he figured he would have one or two students for himself.
when he asked who was assigned to him, he found himself only having to mentor one person ( he was happy about that, he could focus on just this one person ). upon meeting the person he was supposed to mentor, he noticed the dark circles under his eyes, and the sort of tired posture that the student held. there was worry that was rising inside him, was this student stressed out for his first day at the hospital? he pushed away the feeling ( for now ), hoping that it was only for today that this student would be sleep deprived.
‘ good morning, ’ he held his hand out, ‘ i’m park jinyoung, you can call me dr. park, dr. jinyoung, whichever you prefer more. ’
—- old wounds // @mixtaeyong
the sound of his alarm blaring across the room woke him up from his slumber. he groaned, rolling onto the other side of his bed, wanting nothing more than to go back to sleep. that was why he put his alarm on the other side of the room, so he wouldn’t just press the alarm and go back to sleep, especially with his type of work. the beeping from his alarm, he believed, somehow got louder, making him grumble in irritation. he pulled himself out of bed, trudging to his alarm to turn it off, stretching his body to get some sort of feeling in it.
as he got ready for the day, making himself something to eat ( the easiest way was to just make a bowl of cereal ) before hearing his doorbell ring. he let out a noise of irritation, who would even be at his door right before he was about to leave for work? he stuffed his mouth with another bite of cereal before getting up to open the door ( and possibly tell whoever it was to leave ).
opening the door, expecting someone who got the wrong address or maybe even a delivery person, but instead he was met with a familiar face. ‘ taeyong, ’ his voice was quiet, not sure if he was dreaming or not. it had been years since jinyoung had seen taeyong. by the time he had entered college, the amount of times he called taeyong were lessened. there were days where they would meet and catch up after weeks of not talking, but then taeyong just wasn’t there anymore. no matter how many times he asked, taeyong’s parents ( people who took the title of “jinyoung’s parents” as well ) never got a reply from taeyong as to where he was.
so seeing his friend at his doorway filled him with many different emotions. relief, anger, happiness. he wanted to catch taeyong in a bone crushing hug, but at the same time he wanted to slam the door in his face ( which was something he would never actually do ). there were so many things he wanted to say, words on the tip of his tongue, questions like where have you been? or why did you leave? he wasn’t sure if he should even ask these questions, a small pit of worry in his stomach that taeyong would leave again.
‘ uh... come in, ’ he moved out of the way so taeyong could come in before shutting the door behind him. ‘ give me a second, alright? ’ he left his friend in his living room/kitchen area to his room. he grabbed his phone and dialed one of the nurses at the hospital, telling them that he might not be able to come in, or he would be very late. placing his phone in his pocket, he made his way back to where taeyong was. ‘ do you want anything to eat? ’
—- sticks and stones may break my bones // @mijaehyung
there were patients always coming in and out of the hospital, many with cases that jinyoung had seen before. some with broken legs, arms, and other body parts. some people that came in only had a bruise on their knee, but their mother was worried that it could be something worse and brought them to the hospital ( which jinyoung didn’t understand, it just cost them unnecessary money ). in his time at the hospital ( his experience before working at the hospital was more classified ), he had never seen anyone with jaehyung’s condition.
his hands holding his clipboard, he flipped through the papers, checking any and all of the patient’s information that the hospital had. ‘ mr. park, ’ he started, looking at the papers again, ‘ it says here you have... many broken bones. ’ he paused, what could he say? the amount of broken bones that the person in the bed in front of him had wasn’t the hospital’s usual. sure, they had a bad case one in a while, but he didn’t think it had ever been this bad ( but he also hadn’t worked there for years ).
‘ mr. park, we’re going to have to take some x-rays and do some more testing to see how bad your condition is. but... i have to ask, how did this happen? ’
