(PP is a D&D chara made in a avatar creater, cover is an OC throuple of mine someone drew for me but I forgot who T_T)
So I can't remember if I've mentioned Cain yet, but he's one of my OCs in my Mika x Takeo world who tends to follow them into most AUs. When he's around, they're an ot3. They are all dating each other.
Cain originally showed up in the urban fantasy AU where Mika was a Siren and Takeo a demon (tho sometimes its classic werewolf and vampire instead).
In above AU, Cain is a fae changeling. The ones that are swapped as babies with human children from European folklore, specifically Irish in his case. He doesn't know this. His original name was Cian, but he was adopted and moved out of Ireland (my story is generally set in a vague approximation of what I imagine the USA is like from reading fanfics) and his name got changed to Cain in the process.
How he meets Mika and Takeo very much depends on the AU, but as a general rule he comes along after they're an established couple, and it a few years younger than them.
Cain's relationship with the other 2 is interesting and very different to that between Mika & Tak. Its not that he's any less loyal or ride-or-die or anything, but its slightly more childish and fickle. Cain has a 'free-bird-that-always-has-a-home' style of relationship. While M & T would get anxious if they were apart for too long, Cain would get restless if he stuck around too long. So he's constantly in their orbit, always coming back, loves them nearly obsessively - but he will also randomly disappear for weeks or months at a time.
Personality wise, Cain generally comes across as bubbly, extraverted, and kind, if a little bit over-the-top and ditzy. He feels like a friendly jock - he's tall, athletic (not big, but lean muscle), and attractive. And this doesn't even waver much when he's with Mika & Takeo, even in some of the more seedy places they go to. But this in itself is a bit of a hint to his underlying darkness; because to see this young, dumb, handsome jock giggling and bouncing around and fawning over his boyfriend who has just shot someone and is watching them bleed out on the floor is JARRING. It's like he doesn't even see it. Because Cain isn't less morally grey than the other 2. In fact, its up for debate which is more 'evil' - the one who enjoys killing, or the one who kills like he's just thrown something in the trash, with such complete apathy that its like he never saw them as alive in the first place.
Because that's Cain's true personality. The people that he loves exist, of course. Mika and Takeo and anyone else that count as their family. But he is completely devoid of empathy for anyone else. He interacts with them. He might have 'friends' or associates from a 'normal' world (e.g. uni friends, or allies), but he doesn't actually care about them. It's just a way to beat boredom for him.
His relationship with the older boys (Mika & Takeo) is slightly obsessive on his part. While the other 2 are basically equals and stand level with one another, Cain tends to look up to and idolise them. He's never the one 'in charge' and that suits him just fine. They absolutely spoil him though, and there's a sense of power in that - he could get away with basically anything. In kink terms, he's a sub through and through, and it probably borders on Little to an extent.
Anyway, I could talk forever about Cain but I'll stop here. Feel free to ask questions about him, or the other 2. Or give me prompts about any of them.
It's frustrating that you can come up with the plot of an entire fic in just a few seconds, but writing it all down can take anywhere from never to forever.
Hi people!! I've got d&d later today and my DM wanted some backstory stuff so he could traumatise me with it later and I decided I want to share it here. He kinda forgot that I'm a creative writer on the side and did not expect the multiple paragraphs of lore :3
Name: Nero
Race: Shadar-Kai (Shadowfell elf, servant of the Raven Queen)
Class: Eldritch Knight (fighter subclass, magic using melee)
Nero leaves the Shadowfell as a young-ish Shadar-kai fighter who was a bit of an anomaly amongst his people in that he didn't hate every other race and is mostly curious about the Material Plane.
Shadar-kai are known for chasing strong emotions (including pain, passion, excitement, etc) and so the young, reckless Nero joins a free-roaming mercenary band called the Long Hawks. This is an independent group that never joins a guild or stays in one place for long. They're made of up outcasts, most of them races that have a lot of prejudice against them (tieflings, half-orcs, drow, etc). There's only about 6 of them. They are led by Arnudall, a half-orc.
Despite his Shadar-kai nature and upbringing, Nero begins to develop attachment to his group. He cares for them deeply. He's slept with some of them, honestly (that's normal for his race, part of that thrill seeking). But he's more-than-half in love with Arnudall, whom he respects and admires as a strong leader who cares about and protects his people. It seems to be one-sided love, though.
The Lone Hawks emblem.
Nero has been with the Hawks for a little while, but is still considered the newbie when they are recruited to join a human war. It seems exciting, but mostly its good money. And they end up under command of a military Captain (which makes his band captain technically a sergeant in army terms). This Captain is some arrogant noble and sees the mercs and disposable cannon fodder, despite their skill and experience. Nero has probably been with them the least amount of time and is still somewhat green. It's not actually that long before they were ordered into a battle to claim a strategic point on a hill. The merc band kinda knew it was a Bad Idea and their side was at a major disadvantage. Nero didn't think too much about it because death doesn't hold much weight for him. So they're sent in and it goes horrifically, they don't get the point before they're forced to retreat, and their band leader (a half-orc called Arnudall) is killed in the process. Nero hadn't really thought about death, true death, until this makes him realise that he might be functionally immortal but the people he cares about certainly aren't, they can die a true death, and this fuckin devastates him.
just a couple days after that, their company is ordered into another battle that is clearly a trap. He argues with the army Captain about it but is shut down pretty severely. So they get sent into this battle in a ravine and the opposing army summons a Titan (mountain titan, I was basically looking up huge monsters that can be summoned and would decimate an army). For the first time in his life, Nero experiences fear. Already broken from losing Arnudall, and separated from his company in the chaos, Nero turns and flees. He's shadar-kai, he can use the shadows to his advantage, and has a teleport up his sleeve if he needs it (he's ont an eldritch night yet, just a basic fighter). He goes back later that evening, after the battle is well over, and all he sees is death. there is noone left alive on the battlefield. Anyone who did survive is long gone.
I imagine he finds some of the bodies of his friends, but not all - its too chaotic, some bodies are beyond recognition. But he assumes that they're all gone. He's absolutely wracked by guilt for running and living. Shadar-kai use strong emotions to counter the oppressive gloom effects of living in the Shadowfell and keep their soul tethered and whole. Pain is one of those feelings that they can use, but emotional pain is a whole different experience. Like most of his kind, Nero is a bit of a masochist, but this experience destroys him. He leaves the entire kingdom, moves as far away as he possibly can (the side of continent?). He keeps working as a merc, because that's all he knows, but mostly solo, he doesn't join any permanent team, determined not to get attached again. He stops chasing those intense emotions, which is a major risk, but he's kind of resigned to a living death - he's embraced apathy. And it might actually destroy his soul.
I've been watching Buddy Daddies (and spamming art on my main blog) and thinking about putting my boys in a similar situation. It would he hilarious. Altho, extrovert, intelligent, golden retriever boy is the heir to a crime family instead... And while Rei chose to choose his found family over that life, Mika would aboslutely be like "why not both???"
Anyway, it's not the first time I've thought about this. Maybe I'll write something about it eventually.
I have a new AU with Mika and Takeo and I didn't know where to start but I wanted to write something so I just picked a scene and went from there. For context, the "Freakout! At the Cage Fight" (honestly, I reworded just so I could make that joke) refers to the boys going on a date to the Underground cage fight ring/arena that Tak used to fight at before he lost his sponsor and got booted (he was told to throw a match, but the dude tried to stab him, so he killed him oops). Anyway, Mika basically offers to sponsor Takeo instead and, unfortunately, that causes Takeo to kind of lose it because 'why are you being nice to me?????'. I would also like to note that generally, they're both pretty self-centred and cold or apathetic. Mika could probably be diagnosed with ASPD (psychopathy) and Takeo has killed multiple people. Literally the only people they care about are themselves and each other. Too much context? Maybe.
Lunch had just broken and Mikael was fighting the urge to pace. James, standing next to him, was griping about something but Mika wasn't really listening. He had spotted Takeo first thing that day, but hadn't seen hide nor hair of him since. Takeo hadn't skipped class once after they had hooked up that first time. It wouldn't have been unusual before that, but this time Mika was worried. The ‘freakout at the cage fight’ had been Friday night, and he hadn't heard from Takeo all weekend. Now he seemed to be avoiding him at school too. If Mika had fucked this up by pushing Takeo too hard and too fast, he was going to lose his mind. He had never wanted someone this intensely. He knew Takeo wanted him too, but the other boy had major trust issues. It's not like Mika blamed him. Mika was usually the one to give people trust issues. He loved to mess with people, to fuck them up, to destroy them. He had never given a shit about any of them. But, fuck his life, despite everything he was, he cared about Takeo. He cared what Takeo thought of him. He needed Takeo to trust him. He kind of hated how important that was to him, but he hated even more the thought of the boy slipping through his fingers. Mikael wasn't used to losing what was his.
Mikael was jarred back to reality by a vice grip on the arm and suddenly being yanked away from his group. Who the fuck would dare treat him like this? He spun his head around as he stumbled along behind the unknown assailant and saw gorgeous, shining black hair. Oh, it was Takeo. The source of his distraction was dragging him off somewhere. Mika had a faint hope that it was for a quickie, but that was pretty damn unlikely. Everything about Takeo was tense. He was frustrated, angry. All Mika wanted to do was soothe him. Wanted to give him everything he had ever wanted or needed. But that had been part of the issue in the first place. For Takeo, nothing came for free. Every apparent kindness came at a price. Absolutely look that gift horse in the mouth because the person offering was always trying to screw you over and use you. Mika making the same mistake again would just make his mood even worse. So he wisely kept his mouth shut as he was pulled into the sports storeroom and his back was slammed against a wall, arms pinned on either side of his head.
“What the hell do you want from me?” Takeo was snarling in Mika’s face. He could see the fear and desperation warring with desire in Takeo’s eyes. He normally wasn’t so expressive, but this was clearly driving him to his limits. And this was the crux of his fear - what was Mika getting out of this? “Why me?”
Was Mika a borderline pathological liar? Sure. But why lie to Takeo? The boy he adored so much could see straight through his bullshit. If he tried to charm and manipulate, all he would do would be push Takeo even further away. And what would normally be a fight against every fibre in his being, came out easy. Because Takeo was the only person that made telling the truth feel natural.
“I want you.” He didn't hesitate in his answer. “Just you. Standing beside me. Kissing me. Fucking me. Choking me. Holding my fuckin’ hand. I don't care. I want to date you. I don't need anything else from you. I just want you to keep looking at me.”
Takeo was trying to get a read on him, trying to figure out if there was anything hidden in Mikael's words.
“But… Why me?”
Another easy question.
“Because I don't have to think about it.” He continued when Takeo looked confused. “I'm never trying to hide when I'm with you. I never have to put on a mask and play pretend. I don't have to mould myself to fit whatever expectations you have for me. You interest me, you make me happy, you look after me. You fuck like a beast, too. For the first time in my life, I feel like I can relax when I'm with you and just be me. Honestly, I don't entirely know why either. But I don't care. Why should I give a shit about the ‘why’ when wanting you just feels easy?”
Takeo's grip on his wrists loosened, and Mika tried not to pout about it. Probably wasn't a good time. He was looking down at the ground between them now, clearly trying to figure something out.
“But, it has to be secret, right? You want to be with me, but not in public?”
Okay, that had caught Mika off guard in a way he rarely was.
“What the fuck are you on about?”
“You don't want people to know, right? Your reputation or some shit.” Takeo still wasn't looking at him and Mika was starting to get annoyed now. “You don't interact with me at school. You wanted a cafe where people wouldn't see us. You don't even stand close to me if we're not somewhere private.”
Oh, for lord's sake. This absolutely adorable, clingy, touch-starved idiot. Mika wriggled one of his hands free and promptly whacked Takeo over the side of his head. That got those deep, dark eyes right back on him.
“Firstly, I like to pick date spots away from people because I think it's none of their business and the fuckwits I know are nosy little shits. Second, I wasn't overly public, especially at school, because we hadn't had a chance to talk about it, I didn't know what you wanted, and I didn't want to freak you out. Thirdly, can you fuckin talk to me next time instead of this utter bullshit? I have been scared out of my mind that I had chased you away and we could have avoided all these fucking assumptions if you had let me get close enough to fucking talk. You fuck-”
He was cut off by a kiss. It was hard, urgent, but at the same time full of relief and apology. Takeo’s lips slotted against his like matching puzzle pieces and Mikael thought he might actually start believing in a God just from the happiness he felt. If Takeo was kissing him, then it was going to be okay. His lover (his boyfriend? He should check that) pulled away and Mika didn’t even try to hide his needy whine at the loss. He tried to use his free hand to pull Takeo back to him, but it was quickly recaptured and pinned in its original position.
“Are we good then?” He asked. There were probably some additional details that they needed to figure out, but that could wait.
“Mm… Nearly.”
Ok, maybe not all of the details could wait.
“Prove it. Stop hiding me. You want me by your side? Let me stand there. Let people see me with you.”
Mika hesitated. That was the worst thing he could have done. Takeo’s face twisted in betrayal and anger. He tore away from Mika and backed up within the small space of the storage shed.
“Fuck you. Do you have any idea what you do to me? I need you! I would do fucking anything for you! I… Fuck! I would give you everything without a goddamn question. And there is only one fucking thing I want from you! Just one… One thing…”
Shit. Takeo. Stoic, brutal, apathetic Takeo. His Takeo. Takeo was crying. His baby was crying. And he, who took such pleasure in making others cry, felt like his heart was going to shatter into a million pieces. Because it was his fault. He didn’t want this. If it had been anyone else making Takeo this upset, Mika would have slit their throat himself. Why the hell had he hesitated? Why did he instinctively want to hide Takeo away? It didn’t matter. Whatever his reasons had been, none of them mattered. No one in his entire life had ever had him reduced to scrambling for forgiveness, to back-peddling and pleading to get their approval. Until Takeo.
“No, baby, I’m sorry. Please. I’ll show you off. I’ll make sure everyone knows you’re mine. I swear. I will. I’ll prove it. Please, let me prove it. I can’t lose you. Just… Let me go one step at a time? Like, maybe not immediately start making out in the school corridors? That can happen! I can do that! Just, maybe not right away? I’ll… Hey, my birthday is this weekend, remember? I’m having a house party. You’re invited, obviously. I’ll let you call the shots there. Stand close, hold my hand, make out with me in front of everyone. Whatever you want. Then school. And the Underground. And I’ll take you on a date in the middle of the city. Please. I’m sorry. Don’t leave. I’m sorry.”
God, what the fuck was wrong with him? He didn’t ramble, he didn’t beg, and he certainly didn’t apologise. Where the hell was that slick charm and golden tongue? It all fled in the face of this boy. Said boy was looking at him now with narrowed eyes.
“...Will you at least acknowledge me at school until then?”
“Yes.”
No hesitation this time.
A few more seconds passed by agonisingly slowly until Takeo finally breathed out a long sigh and rubbed his eyes.
“Shit. I can’t believe I fucking cried. Haven’t cried since I was five or something. I hate that you can do this to me. You’re the only person in the fucking world that could do this. Fine. Birthday party. Text me the details. Until then, you won’t get anything from me. No kissing, no sex, nothing. You can fucking wait. Fair?”
“You’re gonna kill me. Yes, it's fair. But I’m still gonna sulk about it.” And shit, it was only Monday. By the weekend he was going to be pent up beyond belief. “I want you to kiss me now though. One for the road. To get me through the week.”
He was absolutely pushing his luck. Luckily, a small smile grew on Takeo’s face and suddenly he was once more being crowded against the wall. Lips were pressed against his, a tongue was trying to block off his air supply, and his arms were finally around Takeo’s neck, pulling him even closer. This was what he so desperately needed. This was a reminder, a reassurance, that Takeo might be angry at him, but he still loved Mika.
Takeo kissed him deep and long. His fingers were digging into Mika’s sides in a way that would probably leave marks, exactly how Mika liked it. And then he was gone. Chuckling cruelly as he stepped back, turned around, and walked out of the shed, leaving Mika behind, panting and slightly stunned. In the sudden absence, Mikael felt his cock twitch and burst out laughing. He had absolutely deserved that. Takeo had got him good.
One of the best writing advice I have gotten in all the months I have been writing is "if you can't go anywhere from a sentence, the problem isn't in you, it's in the last sentence." and I'm mad because it works so well and barely anyone talks about it. If you're stuck at a line, go back. Backspace those last two lines and write it from another angle or take it to some other route. You're stuck because you thought up to that exact sentence and nothing after that. Well, delete that sentence, make your brain think because the dead end is gone. It has worked wonders for me for so long it's unreal
I don't remember where I heard this now, but I absorbed the advice, "if you're stuck, count ten sentences back and start again from there". It's not always ten sentences back, for me, but it does force me to look at the last handful of lines I've actually written on a sentence instead of a story level, and that is eminently helpful in unsticking myself most of the time.
I recently resolved a point where I'd been stuck for months not by changing anything in the scene I was currently writing, but by realizing I needed to add another scene before that one to establish key information I couldn't work into the current one
Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.
The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.
There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

Lmao Takeo is a mess about Mikael when they first start dancing around each other. He really struggles to admit what he wants (dating Mika) and Mika is just like "this idiot. Just hold my damn hand." Because Mika knows what both of them want and doesn't care for this dumb indecision. Miscommunication who?
At the same time, Takeo tends to overthink what *he* thinks Mika wants.
Tak, pinning Mika who has been winding him up for weeks: "wtf do you want from me??"
Mika: "you? Obviously? That's literally all I want. I want to date you. There is nothing complicated about this. I have literally no ulterior motives."
Which.... To be fair to Takeo, Mika is a manipulative little shit who nearly always has an ulterior motive. Literally the only exception is what he wants from Takeo.

Honestly, I haven't used tumblr in sooooooooo long, but I wanted somewhere to post my writing because I'm kind of getting back into it again.
It's mostly original writing these days, with a small amount of Venom fanfics on the side (because I couldn't pass up Veddy and the other wild ships that i've been exposed to).
Anyway, I've made a second blog: @mika-writing that currently just has 3 posts about characters. But please, if you still follow me, come and meet my 2 insane boys, my ot3, and my d&d characters.
TW for torture, blood, death (all of background character very briefly), and it's not yet nsfw but its obvious where its going.
The AU for this one was a bit of a mix between mafia and urban fantasy.
-----------------------------------------
Mikael frowned, and tried not to let it turn into a scowl, as Takeo snarled at one of the thugs guarding the snitch. Tak was in a mood today. A restless, volatile, irritable mood. The first prisoner currently lay dead and bloody on the floor of Mika's suite, hands still bound behind his back, and there was some risk that the latest one would end in the same way - with Tak losing his temper and tearing his throat out. The problem was that Mika really didn't want that. He didn't want to lose the information this snitch had nor did he want to lose one of his men if Tak's temper directed itself elsewhere.
Mika knew what had caused this mood of Tak's but that had little bearing on what he could do about it. Tak wasn't one of his men that he could just order to stand down. Even coming from his lover, Takeo would not respond well with being told what to do. Even among werewolves he was a Rogue - a lone alpha with a defiance reflex and a desperate need for dominance. It was one of the reasons Mika had fallen for him, really. But this temper tantrum needed to be put to an end right now, one way or another.
“Tak.” Mika called out his name like a command - tone calm but firm. Takeo paused mid-punch and turned to look at him. There was a question in his eyes, and annoyance at being interrupted. Mika simply waved him aside and, without waiting to see if he would comply, motioned to the guards to remove their prisoner. Takeo’s piercing gaze never left the bloodied, dazed man as he was dragged out of the room, but he said nothing and made no move to stop it. He wouldn’t undermine Mika’s authority like that. It lasted until the door closed. Then Takeo rounded on him.
“I wasn’t done with him!”
Takeo stormed up to him, shoving his face so close that Mika could feel hot breath brush against his lips. Mika met Takeo’s wild eyes with ones of ice. He tilted his head slightly but simply waited without response. Takeo’s next move would tell Mika what he needed to do - and what Takeo really wanted.
After a moment, Takeo let out a huff of apparent annoyance and took a small step back. He sneered at Mika but before he could say another word, Mika’s hand had shot out and grabbed him by the jaw in a vice like grip.
“Sit, dog.”
Takeo stilled, temporarily in shock from Mika’s words, still spoken with soft authority. It took less than a second for his temper to flare once more, like gasoline on a fire, and his face contorted in rage. Mika wasn’t surprised. If anyone else had said such words to Takeo, Mika would already have removed their head from their body. If anyone had even heard Mika address Takeo in such a way, he would have rendered them blind, deaf, and mute. But it wasn't anyone else, and they were alone, and that meant there was a different dynamic at play. Takeo might be a Rogue werewolf, but Mikael was a pureblood vampire and leader of the most feared gang in the country - control was what he excelled at.
In front of him, Takeo tried to pull away. "Fuck off, parasite." He spat. Mika responded by tightening his grip until he could feel bone just begin to give way. He wasn't aiming to break Takeo's jaw, yet, but it would definitely cause pain. He used his hold to pull Takeo's face back to his.
"Your temper is going to get you into trouble, pup. You've already killed my property without my permission. Don't make me ask again." Mikael did not raise his voice.
Takeo stopped struggling, but the snarl on his lips and defiance in his eyes said he was far from obedient. Mika let a small smile grace his face. Good; it wouldn't be any fun if he buckled that quickly. They would not be bothered until morning.
Mikael tilted Takeo's head, using his other hand to trace the delicate tattoo that curled its way from behind Takeo's ear down to his collarbone. He hummed in thought.
