It's a start. Hold your government accountable... vote Reposted from @hennepincounty In today’s historic vote, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners declared racism a public health crisis. Due to racism, Black, Indigenous and People of Color in Hennepin County statistically have poorer educational outcomes, earn less, and are less likely to own homes or have access to quality health care and jobs than white people. These disparities have lifelong impacts, including higher disease rates, and, as we’re seeing now, higher rates of COVID-19. Declaring racism a public health crisis will lift up our work of developing strategies that mitigate personal bias and prejudice in our community, create systems that build equity, and reach our vision of a future where all residents are healthy and successful and all communities thrive. Hennepin County is not the first to declare racism as a public health crisis, and we will not be the last. There is a worldwide movement for equity. This is a call for more action and more justice. - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/CCKFHvHpLp7/?igshid=eiw9sha1dtg2
