Byler and Mileven both equally suck and Mike deserves infinitely better than Will or El as partners for how they constantly victimise themselves, start arguments, put Mike on the spot and never apologise for the arguments because it’s all Mikes fault

really not a fan of the 'mike a bad boyfriend to will' agenda,, incorrect. mike is the best at being a boyfriend (and will is aware) because he's dating will !! he's a loser for will !!

every nonexistent bit of cash he has, he's scraping together to take will out. he's learning to cook. he's (canonically!!) using the gentlest voice ever. he apologises within like twenty minutes tops if they argue. he's absolutely writing love poetry of varying quality both whilst drunk and while sober. bouquets are gifted monthly. he says dumb shit like alas and talks like a medieval knight and dances badly with will in the kitchen of their apartment. he puts the covers over will when he falls asleep on the sofa so he doesn't get cold.

idk man maybe you think there aren't many things mike wheeler is good at but, please, credit where credit is due, he'd be excellent at loving will byers

anti the "mike saving himself for will/willsexual/only ever thinking he's into will and not men as whole" agenda because, yeah, let mike "explore". let him experiment, let him fuck around and find out (literally), let him kiss a man at a bar in freshman year, let him go over shiny magazine-page pictures of guys with el after they break up and work out where to go from there. let vickie take him with her to a gay bar or two, let him kiss a guy in an alleyway around the back. he can still be in love with will while he does all this!! but the queer experience is so much more than just the person you're into (yes, even if you love them)

I'm someone who unfortunately, often lets details go unnoticed, so hearing the costume designer for s4 call this el outfit her "will look" just turned a switch in my mind, bc yeah it's pretty clear that eleven dresses herself differently in s4 compared to how she dressed in s3 but OMG, it's not just the clothes it's the hair too, everything about her reminds us of will. This scene with Mike between them it's crazy, it's like he's between the gender bent versions of the same person and now he has a choice to make iykyk....

we need to talk more about the fandom experience of "I actually do like the idea of these two characters together and think it would have been an interesting direction for the show to have gone in, but unfortunately everyone who openly ships them is so exhaustingly unpleasant about it that it's barely even enjoyable to engage with the fandom at large anymore so the ship itself is now ruined for me"

Henderhop without Byler makes me sad because a lot of Henderhops popularity came from Bylers. I don’t mind not shipping Byler but if you hate on Byler while being a Henderhop shipper it saddens me because Henderhop would still be a rare pair of it weren’t for Byler.
