Who ya gonna call?

Oh what to write about. I put this together for a friend who requested it. Im a big fan of the Ghostbust’n. When I was a kid, I made the whole proton pack out of cardboard and duck tape. It never really worked, but then again, I never encountered any ghosts. Maybe it scared them off.

Dont you touch my ball

Out of town visiting the family during Canada’s Thanksgiving weekend, I woke up extra early to get my hands on the pen. At first I had a writers block. What the hell do I draw today? With Venom releasing this weekend, I thought it’d be cool to see the symbiote merge with a pug. But then I realized - would a pug even care about the symbiote? No, probably not. My dogs would just ignore it, kinda like they ignore me half the time. 

When I draw, like everyone else I sketch first, ink, and color. That’s pretty standard, though Im mostly self taught so I expect others may have a better system. A few more steps to really draw out the piece. I try to use as many references as I can, so to keep the scene as natural as possible. This pugs chewing on his ball and doesnt want to share. Thats a common dog characteristic that I see all the time with my pups.

Happy Mean Girls Day!

Today is a very special day for a few reasons.

Thats two major quotes from Mean Girls - happening today. This is huge, or... so my fiance tells me. I havent actually seen the movie yet, which is a crime I’m told. This is supposed to be a cult-classic, so I plan on watching it tonight.

I love the Karen pug holding up the skirt.

Oh! Check it out on instagram, it holds its resolution better there than it does here on Tumblr. Im not sure why, maybe I should be hosting these somewhere different than Tumblr or Instagram. Hmmm...if you have any suggestions let me know.

What a week!

Theres a few things to go over today. I’ve got a new job (yay!) as a manager of a hotel (wow!) which is something incredible to me. I’m very proud to have this position. I hope to do well by my team, and provide the best experience for my guests. So with those changes in my life, it’s been a very busy week.

Something else thats happened, is I’ve figured out a great schedule for drawing. 

Monday: I’ll release a new comic strip. I hope to eventually have enough of this to make a book! Wouldn’t that be something eh? Right now I’ve got three, which is one page. Comic books have what, 50 pages? 3 per page, double sided, thats... wow. 150 weeks. Maybe that’s too slow. I might have to change this schedule already.

Wednesday: I’m calling this “Coffee Mug Day”, as the art I’ll draw will always be something that can fit on a coffee mug (or something like it).

Friday: This is when I’ll satisfy my need to draw pugs dressed up as characters from a movie, tv show, or game. For instance...

This schedule isn’t perfect, and I’ll keep working on it. Ideally I can get 3 strips out a week, but then I wouldnt be able to draw pugs dressed as super heroes and wizards! *sigh*

Power Outage!

Last night, Ottawa was hit with a TORNADO that took out power to half the city! Luckily no-one was hurt and all pugs are accounted for. The power outage knocked me off my Tumblr schedule, but to make up for it I drew something extra. Our dogs hate the dark. When the lights go out, we break out the candles and it just freaks them out even more. Whats a nice and cozy experience for us, is a stressful scary nightmare for them. What lies just beyond the glow of the candle.... probably the cat. Yeah, it’s always the cat.

So that drawing was just extra to make up for missing Friday. (I don’t like to miss days!) Lets get on with what the real piece was!

Fortnite. That dancing, shooting, jumping, building game everyone's always talking about. I’ve only played it a few times and I found it exhilarating to hide in the bushes until the bullets found me. Then I crack open another beer and watch my killer die, my killers killer die, my killers killers killer die, and if I get so lucky - my killers killers killers killer actually win. What a rush.

Between all the killing Fortnite has to offer - there is dancing. Lots of dancing. My nephew is very skilled at this. Watching him choose dance moves is akin to watching Magnus Carlsen play chess, only at 10x the speed. Its fascinating, remarkable, and aw-inspiring. The only real difference between these two masters of their craft, is Magnus is an international chess grand master, and my nephew is in grade 8 dancing with his grade 8 friends. So close.

Hope you enjoy! Im going to be honest - I have no idea what these dance moves are called. I made this for my nephew because he just loves this game, and of course - he loves pugs.

Sister please, this way...

Im not a fan of scary movies. I really do not like scary movies, but I will watch them anyways and more often then not, I have no regrets. It’s funny how that is. You can spend the whole afternoon deliberating if you should watch ‘that movie’ and once it starts, you’re hooked and can’t get away from it.

Have you watched The Conjuring? That’s the one about a ghost who terrorizes a family until the very end when... oh, sorry. I didnt want to give away that unique ending. /sass

I do love it though. The theme of these paranormal movies may always be the same; Person or family encounters ghost, terror builds, then introduce someone able to fight the ghost, maybe a few people die along the way, ghost really shakes things up, and then eventually, is defeated. Its a great recipe, so Im only jesting when I make fun of it. 

The Nun is the newest addition to that series, I think. Its going to be really good. My brother in law Alex, is a big fan and looking forward to its release. He’s a member of Noxkey, and asked that I make one, and well, here it is. You can check it out and others, on the website he’s made, Noxkey.com.

Its MONDAY and I promised something new. Check it out. I’ll be doing a new comic every week.

My dad is a huge fan of Star Wars. To the point that I could be disowned if I answered wrong when asked the question “Who shot first?”, and we all know who shot first.

Let me explain what Im doing, because someone should. I have a plan to release a new drawing each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is to create a sort of routine. Something consistant each week to bring a new Pudgy Pug piece of fun, or something cute, or not cute but somber. Raise awareness on some serious issues that... Im KIDDING. It’ll be just fun and cute. I’ll save awareness for Pudgy Politicians.

Winter is Coming

Summer ends, and spring begins. Winter is coming.

My fiance and I have been binge watching Game of Thrones as we prepare for the long night (Winter) before Season 8 begins. I’m too excited to see the finale of this incredible show.

So Pudgy Pug. Why am I drawing so many pugs. What’s with that logo. What is a “Pudgy Pug”. Lots of questions and no answers, just like a great episode of Game of Thrones. The only thing that’s missing is a great reveal that keeps you wanting more.

Happy Birthday!

Birthdays are great. Time with the family, you get some presents, and best of all, there is always cake. I decided to spend my birthday drawing my favorite Pudgy Pug hounding for some of my favorite birthday cake. We all love cake, and I felt horrible eating the giant quarter cut of cake I took right in front of the sad, pleading eyes of my dogs. I didn’t give them a single nibble. Not one. So to make up for my guilt, I let Pudgy Pug have the biggest slice. Well, almost.

Dogs and Laptops

I have the best time when I’m on my laptop. I wonder if my dogs want to use my computer too. It would explain why they interrupt me every time I sit down to work. I cant get a moment away from them once I sit down. They are immediately at my feet, looking up at me with those adorably sad eyes that scream “why u no care anymore” like the last 30 minutes of play we had was just a lie. Its animal cruelty.

So I came to the realization that its not me they even want. They want the laptop. These darn dogs want to search up the next  best toy on Amazon. They are checking Buzzfeed for the best parks in no particular order. If I leave my laptop open, I bet they’ll climb right up there, bang the keys till Instagram loads a hashtag for dogs with cute collars. Its hard to be on top of the trends when your owner never shares the computer.
