hey if you’re in the U.S. and use food stamps or know somebody who does i found this online cookbook that has recipes for eating well on approximately $4/day :o)
I don’t have food stamps but I need to know how to eat well for $4/day. Thank you for this.
HOLY SHIT
This cookbook is really amazing. I’ve used a couple of the recipes and they are so easy to follow. And in the beginning there are a bunch of really great tips for saving on food stuff.
Here is a working link for the cookbook.
I am all these
I can't remember where I heard this but I was totally blown away by the apparent class difference in werewolves and vampires portrayal, werewolves are rarely of ever shown as wealthy or upperclass, they're very likely poor or close to being lower class, while vampires are almost always very wealthy. I don't know what to do with this but it's just so facinating how class is reflected is almost everything in media including monsters
Its just math. Being immortal + compound interest = rich, its not a class struggle 🙄
I mean, a lot of the common stories of vampires are people who were wealthy and nobility before they became vampires, but sure, it's just compound interest.
If only there were some subtext to the local count being cursed and soulless while he bleeds dry the peasantry...
I think the truth is less that vampires are always rich and werewolves are always poor- I think that it's more of a matter of what we see, what stands out, what's noticeable within the context of a particular environment.
It's not that there *are* no wealthy werewolves- The thing is, a wealthy werewolf would likely never be caught.
A werewolf with means could pay off authorities and witnesses, hide themselves away in elaborate chambers, and arrange for their every material need to be brought in on regular schedule- just as the wealthy can do, without anyone batting an eye. A smiling face in a different suit each day, consuming every little thing they can stomach, slitting throats and stepping on bodies to climb their way up in an environment where such things are part of what's accepted, what's expected, before their finite life runs out.
Likewise, a destitute vampire could be invisible- just another unfortunate soul wandering the street, a nameless face feeding an addiction that sustains their life, alone in corners and empty rooms, rarely thought of twice except in moments of brief charity or fear- their humanity slowly swept under the rug and denied by those around them until they are seen as less than human; a pest to be driven out, onto the next town, and the next, and the next.
How many times have you walked past a pale, scabby figure on the street, and immediately forgotten their face?
How many beastly an eccentric and vicious CEOs and celebrities and politicians take the limelight month after month with hardly a sideways glance?
Wolves don't fit well in sheep's clothing, but for a wolf to hide among other wolves is far easier.
I am literally going to kוll you. They're not real, buddy. That wasn't the point of this post. Not to mention you're straight up...dude. You're wrong.
The Undying Monster is basically The Hound Of The Baskervilles, but the hound IS the Baskerville. Noble. Werewolf. Heck, Larry Talbot - the original Wolf Man - is nobility by blоod, he's just a real down-to-Earth guy.
The reason vampires tend to be nobility or have similar positions of power is because what better metaphor for class issues than a demonic abomination that drains the very lifebloоd from helpless victims caught under their spell? They offer hospitality, they offer perhaps power or attention or simply seduction, or perhaps they don't bother and just take your life by force. They are immortal. They are above petty concerns of...well, concern, and basic human emotion. As far as I know, the main reason most vampires you'll see are rich and/or noble is because Dracula was implicitly about class struggles and most vampire media since has to some degree imitated it, or because others individually came up with the same association.
Werewolves are not a metaphor for class anything. Werewolves are the monster within, the terror of realizing that you're capable of dark and horrible things, the very human struggle against the animal blackness that threatens to overtake your very soul and make you hurt the ones you love. That's why nearly all werewolf media is tragic - everything from An American Werewolf In London to Ginger Snaps to Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Oz contains an element of tragedy. There are exceptions, like the aforementioned The Undying Monster, but like. 40s supernatural detective flick. Heck, even then the man's fall is tragic when viewed from how he must have experienced it.
Sometimes, especially recently, both of these monsters can be metaphors for anything from sexuality to adolescence to the timeless nature of a world you can only half live in, having forsaken your place long ago and become an outcast whether by choice or violence. Generally these are secondary themes, but sometimes you get, like, Teen Wolf (the movie with Michael J Fox) and it's like heck yeah. Dunk that basketball, furboy!
Basically,
Get out of here with your nonsense. We're talking about media.
Okay, I think I get it... what you're saying is that The fitness gram pacer test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. A single lap should be completed every time you hear this sound. Remember to run in a straight line and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark. Get ready!… Start.
Fiction isn't about being right or wrong. It's about the truth you find inside.
I can’t believe that dude just straight up threatened to kill someone else for making a point- very good point at that-and no one seems to have said shit about it. What the fuck is happening
vampire werewolf class war
I desperately need to know if my vibes are more Werewolf or Vampire-coded before I can cast my lot on the subject
