Hi! I have an ao3 account already but I wanted to go ahead and make a tumblr for my fics because I found out there are fics on here. Don’t ask me why I didn’t know until now, I’m a little dumb sometimes. I joined tumblr for the memes, okay.

The only rule I really have for my writing is no smut/no NSFW content. This is a Christian Minecraft server. There may be fluff, there may be angst, there may even be some self-indulgent “x reader” here or there but no explicit sexy times. Sorry folks.

I’m still learning how everything works within the hellsite. I’ve been quite the lurker, not really a participant so forgive me my trespasses please 🙏

Wrote a character so doomed I told my friend their backstory finally and she cried in front of me.

Absolute sucker for male characters with fatherhood arcs. Get that man a son/daughter. Could be biological, could be adopted, could be pseudo. I do not care. I am gnawing at the bars of my cage regardless.

Absolutely not stoked for Christopher Nolan’s the Odyssey. Every interview I’ve seen for it seems to indicate the cast and production does not understand or respect the source material. Like them saying the female characters are only just now becoming important through this retelling…I’m sorry did we read the same story? I don’t remember most of the suitors, the soldiers, etc but by golly do I remember Penelope, Circe, Calypso, the goddess of wisdom Athena herself. All of whom were crucial to pivotal moments in the epic by the way. The pretentiousness of Hollywood in regard to old stories is absolutely grating and it’s part of the reason the only movie I’ve seen in theaters in years was Kane Parsons’ Backrooms. Because he made something original with a passion and also doesn’t (pardon my French) shit on works of the past in order to build himself up. Anyway rant done.

And you are also in love. But the moment you're honest with him about who you really are, he thinks you were manipulating him all along. So you leave. You hide. It turns out you hide too well. It turns out, he went looking for you, he was desperately worried about you, but he couldn't find you. You hide alone for long enough that you're no longer quite as sane as you used to be.

And you haven't Saved the Valley.

Years later, you meet a young girl. She is the Moon Princess. It is her job to Save the Valley.

Benjamin Merryweather is a Byronic hero trapped in a children's fantasy movie. He'd be batting a thousand in a Bronte novel but alas for him he is surrounded by whimsy.

This is 100% a personal nitpick, an honest to God opinion formed by me, but I dislike when someone (fanfic or original work) is trying to write two characters who are intended to have some kind of connection (usually romantic) and the reasoning for why they care so much—usually too fast, too early to make a lot of sense—is “I don’t know why, but I just don’t want anything to happen to Character B” or “So weird, I don’t even know Character B but I’m jealous” or something. This is spelled out in the narrative, blatantly. Verbatim: They don’t know why, but they do. And it just feels kind of lazy. Is it weird for them care about each other in that moment? Okay then don’t have them care yet. Or if you really really need them to care even if they’re not official yet, create a good reason for them to “act out of character” while still being in character. Or, even better, don’t tell me they’re confused. SHOW ME instead. I’ve DNFed so many fics and published works when a character starts on the “why am I feeling this way” internal monologue arc super early on. Denial and repression I understand but it gets to a point with a grown up, appropriately socialized person. Especially if the character is canonically self aware. Can’t speak for everyone, but when I feel that particular kind of weird about someone that quick I can chalk it up to finding them physically attractive at the very least. It’s not rocket science and I dislike when a character is written to think finding someone attractive couldn’t possibly be the source and this is a grand mystery that can only be solved via a divine intervention.
