hot artists don't gatekeep
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

my first lps custom and its that monkey that oversees zim’s house. he now guards my zim comics
bought one of the G7 LPS blind boxes, got #85! turns out his mold looks quite like the green monkey, so i hastily decided to go for it!
thyme to work and make the money.
thyme to work more to make the most money for my money vault
with a large enough vault of money i can be comfortable AND go to a funny anime con every year AND restore my long-lost childhood collection of over 200 littlest pet shops
i have beef with this awful 2” blindbag figurine of dib. here are my reasons:
- came with a shitty little stand which i LOST so now he can’t stand on his own AND has an unfortunately placed peg hole in his back
- ugly as sin, mainly due to the quality but it BUT ALSO it does not help that jhonen vasquez’s old art style is difficult to translate to 3D without it looking awkward as fuck
- it’s directly modeled after dib’s most commonly used official art from the TV series, pose and all. BORINGGG
- i’m reluctant to get rid of it because dib is rarely featured in merch so i’d feel kinda bad for the fictional cartoon boy
i wish to be at this level of peace
thinking about the three pieces of merch i gently regret purchasing but am reluctant to sell/donate so they just chill in my closet
if anyone here has ever owned one of those gir/invader zim themed fragrances from hot topic and remembers what they smelled like i implore you to share. i am curious.
like, i LOVE invader zim but it’s certainly an….interesting IP to base a fragrance off of
a take: it is indeed possible to enjoy a thing & engage in its fandom space without feeling the need to be weird to the creators of said thing. (harassing, talking to as if theyre your friend, etc)
i’ve always found it personally ideal to never engage with creators (unless its something prompted like a Q&A) but in light of a controversy that occurred in a niche fandom i lurk in this idea has only made this more true to me
just don’t engage. this goes quadruple in cases where the creator has demonstrated time & time again to be problematic or otherwise troubled in some way.
do not engage. just be respectful and lurk with grace&style 💃
step one: be an 11 year old in 2011 looking up invader zim fan content on the internet
step two: absorb interpretations of the show via said fan content at that time. so spooky. so emotional. so dramatic. arguably traumatic. more so than a silly (albeit dark) children’s cartoon outta be, even if it’s to be taken seriously.
step three: skip ahead 10 or so years later
step four: seek out the same fan content again for retrospective/nostalgia’s sake
step five: be retroactively disturbed at the nature of that era’s fandom content and its implications
step six: view recent feedback on content and revel in the validation of knowing it wasn’t just you who had this extremely strange experience
me rolling up to the store on may 12th
slapping this here ! hello !
