hi! how do you determine where to put thick and where to put thin lines in your drawings? id really like to know :3

Fun fact those dry markers were supposed to have water put into them to make them work. You take off the bottom thing and pour water in and bam, instant marker success. Only learned about this four years after I’d lost my set 🙃

Hello! I am back again to post sketchy practice paint stuff at an odd hour in the night.

In 2018, I made a post going on a little ramble about how I often I saw artists comparing their art, skill levels, and age and about trying new things as a means of learning. Which when I went back to find the post, I realized it made absolutely no since due to it being posted at like 3 in the morning.

Will I try to re-explain these topics? Kind of. I’m gonna talk about references instead of comparing yourself to others and I’m gonna talk about getting out of your comfort zone, because it is SO important. I went so long without trying new things unless I absolutely had to for a class, which resulted in me staying in this sort of same art phase that I couldn’t get out of. I saw multiple artists that I follow talk about how you have to try new mediums and draw things you aren’t used to drawing, but that’s so much easier said than done and I had no idea where to start.

So, I was trying new things, yes, but it felt like I still wasn’t progressing. This kept going on and on until I finally decided to use references more.

It took me a while to get comfortable with them because I was confusing “using references” with “stealing art” and it’s actually quite different considering you NEED references when you draw, you can’t quite poof up the dynamic art with poses without knowing how legs work.

Thanks so much for your ask! I’ve meant to do a tutorial like this for a long time. This is the way that I draw big girls, though it’s quite a short and basic tutorial. I hope it helps!
