hey. i know i'm never on here anymore, and there's a pretty big reason for that. i want to separate myself from who i used to be.

i am not at all fond of the person i was when i first made this account. i was confused and uninformed, and that ended up hurting people, probably more people than i even know.

i was friends with the wrong people, especially while i was in the ninjago community. people who made victims of themselves, people who were toxic. i haven't spoken to them in years, and frankly don't want to because i want to leave that all behind me.

i like to think i'm a better person now, one who bases her thinking on truth first and empathy close behind. i know far more about lgbtq now that i've gotten past the mountain of internalized homophobia. i don't think i'll be very active on here unless i feel like coming back, since i'm mostly on discord now. if you wanna talk, dm me at piperchu.

I’ll never understand why anthropomorphic animal cartoons like Robin Hood and Zootopia will go to the trouble of creating character designs that are meant to be understood as “attractive” or even “sexy” to the human audience but explicitly avoid showing interspecies romances between anthropomorphic animals. Why is THAT weird but, like, trying to make rabbits recognizably sexy-coded to humans isn’t?

Sometimes, sure, but why was Maid Marian a fox in Robin Hood? There wasn’t anything particularly “foxlike” about her personality, and it would make more sense for her to be a lion. They made her a fox only because Robin was a fox and making her something else would be “weird”, but I don’t think the wolf cop or the chicken maid or the lion prince were actually meant to represent race.

Yeah, ore-sama is a bitch to translate because standard English just doesn’t use pronouns like that but “it’s ya boy” is actually a great way of conveying both the conceited “you should know me” and inappropriately close connotations. I think it’s kinda rare to see direct ways of translating how rough/friendly speech is kinda the same thing in Japanese. I mean, we DO have an understanding that being overly familiar is rude in English but I feel like I rarely see that aspect of ore speech translated gracefully.
