✧*:･ﾟPersonalised Christmas Cookies･ﾟ:*✧

It’s already some time ago since I made these but for Christmas I gave everyone cookies with the initials of there names ( ＾◡＾)っ ♡

At that point I didn’t own any cookie cutters so i made some out of paper and cut every cookie with a knife x’D

I also didn’t own anything else it seems ..so I had to get creativ and made a water bath for the white chocolate out of hair ties and sticks - it actually works just fine!

Then I just had to glaze the cookies with chocolate and decorated them with various sugary stuff like the tiny pearls, the flowers and the letters. I made the flowers and the letters with store bought sugar paste and sprinkled it with edible golden glitter.

Everyone loved them and wanted to keep them instead of eating them - but a few days later they assured me the cookies were delicious ^o^/

After I had made my first successful cake I realised I had no clue about baking so I took a basic fondant course at Cake Couture in Austria. Google it they have beautiful cakes!

This is the cake I made!

The 3 1/2 hour course was meant for us to learn how to cover a cake, store fondant and work with it. After everything was explained and shown to us we had some time left to try and decorate our own cakes! :) 

It was really fun and I learned a lot! In the end we got an amazing sacher cake recipe and a delicious cake to take home with us!

I still have much to learn and a very long way ahead of me but it’s a road that makes me happy. :)

My Girlfriend made a Crystal themed cake for her Mother’s Birthday

✧*:･ﾟResting Caterpie Cake･ﾟ:*✧

This is an easy tree trunk chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, pistachio powder moss & fondant mushrooms 🍄

As mentioned in my first post, this cake kickstarted my interest in baking! I won first place in a small competition with it and am glad I can share it here :)

First I made a medium chocolate cake and vanilla frosting. Since the frosting seemed rather complicated to me which it actually wasn’t I bought a bottle of rama just in case. I ended up not using it since I managed just fine xD

I cut some parts of the cake to give it a nice shape - then I stacked and covered it with the vanilla frosting.

I used the leftover cake parts and frosting to shape my caterpie - after letting it rest in the fridge I covered it with fondant.

I got the cake out of the fridge and covered it with fondant as well. I was going for a wood design with tree-rings but I didn’t really succeed.. in the end I liked the texture so I used it regardless ;)

I covered the rest of the cake in chocolate fondant which is a very forgiving sort of fondant :’) and added the tree structure with a knife.

Then i made some mushrooms out of white fondant and colored it with red food coloring, cocoa powder and powdered sugar. I glued them on with food glue (there are better methodes out there but it works just fine for a beginner) and waited. I had some trouble to get the mushrooms on the side to stay put but managed eventually.

Lastly I put the caterpie on the cake and decorated it with the crushed pistachio powder - done! I hope you guys like it :)

✧*:･ﾟSmall Acorn Tree Trunk Cakes･ﾟ:*✧

I made an easy chocolate cake with a simple chocolate frosting the only sort of cake and frosting i could manage at the time xD and pistachio powder.

This was my first try at baking! I made small test cakes to see if I could manage a big cake :)

I had almost no baking related utensils to work with at the time so I made a flat chocolate-ish cake on a baking tray. I stacked the cake parts with frosting and covered it with more frosting.

Then I crushed the pistachios until I had a pistachio powder I could use to decorate and disguise all the mistakes i made ;)

I was trying to find out how to make something that sort of looked like wood. I used a few differend methodes like chocolate pieces or shaping the frosting with a fork. For the big cake I wanted to make, I discovered fondant and used that :)

The acorns are just cake mixed with frosting dipped in chocolate. After they dried i dipped one half again and dipped them in small chocolate flakes. I put a chocolate piece on it to act as a stem and done!

I think they turned out very nice for a first try :)

The start of something sweet

I started this journey over a year ago on the 22 October 2017.

Funny enough.. i didn’t expect to nor did i mean to enjoy baking at all. I was sick of my talents and work never being appreciated (the exception being my girlfriend - she always has my back :>) so i started browsing through a list of competitions and picked the one with the highest winning chances for me to take part in. It was a cake competition with less than ten participants. So I gave it a go and made my first cake ever.

I won! My score was surprisingly really high!

And although most people where already gone at the award ceremony sadly including my friends it made me really happy that people enjoyed what i had made :)

Soon I realised I had no clue about baking so I asked my mom for easy recipes, browsed the internet for knowledge and took a basic fondant course. I still have a very long way ahead of me but it’s a road that makes me happy.

Over the last year i made various cakes. I’m still somewhat insecure about baking and at this point I’m still very limited in what i actually can do but I enjoy creating all sorts of different motives and above all else I realised I love the look of surprise, wonder and happieness on peoples faces! :)

I don’t know if I’ll ever do this professionally but i do know, i feel kind of accomplished with every cake i make! This Blog is dedicated to that passion and I’m happy to share my chaotic journey with you all.
