STRANGER THINGS 5x08: The Rightside Up
willel could have bonded this season over their respective parent being overprotective and keeping them both in a bubble
man I sure love that character I wish the writers did too
Having a queer character believe he won't find love and proving him right is not good writing.
Having a character grow up in solitary confinement and then ripping her away from the only family she's ever known to live a life of solitude once again is not good writing.
Having a character be in love with his best friend and then just compare it to a high school crush is not good writing.
Having Eleven say that Mike has always been the person who truly understood her after showing us in the previous seasons that he only sees her as a superhero IS NOT GOOD WRITING.
Having two girls be abused by a man with power for the majority of their lives only to leave them dead and alone as a direct consequence of the trauma they suffered IS VILE WRITING
Happy Lumax everyone.
can they please just let her dump him
I'm so glad Nancy brought up Steve's "six little nuggets" and made fun of it with Jonathan bc I was so fucking tired of Stancys trying to say she liked the idea
I know some people are criticizing the choice to have Max say it was never about the music, but rather about Lucas. However, I believe it is important to recognize that in Season 4, Max’s defense mechanism was isolation; she was pushing people away and refusing help from Lucas and her friends. So when she makes that statement, it doesn’t mean she was “saved by a man,” but rather that she realizes she doesn’t have to endure her grief and trauma alone.
On the other hand, Will needs to learn to accept all parts of himself and understand that his self-worth cannot depend on whether Mike loves him back. In the van, Will says, “You make me feel like I’m not a mistake at all.” However, we, as the audience, know that this wasn’t truly the case in Seasons 3 and 4. Mike intentionally and unintentionally hurt Will, but Will was still clinging to the idea of the old Mike and the childhood intimacy they once shared. While some fans romanticize Will’s devotion, it’s not a healthy dynamic. Robin’s story about Tammy effectively shows that the answers aren’t found in just one person, and in Will’s case, healing comes from reclaiming his agency, not from being rescued.
Was this all executed perfectly? No. Does it make sense? To me, yes.
That petition is on the news 😐
she’s so crazzzzzzy! love her!!!
This subfandom thinks of itself as Oh So Important and it's not only embarrassing but also downright harmful.
The reason ep7 has a 5.6 rating is not because you decided to review-bomb it based on a stupid, senseless conspiracy theory about how vol2 is actually really good and conveniently included all the plot points you wanted before it was censored last minute by the evil Netflix. It's because you decided to side with homophobes who are review-bombing it because they don't like that Will being gay is a big plot point for his character at all.
Episode 7 was mediocre, just like episode 6 was mediocre, and yet one of them has a 5.6 rating while the other one has an 8.5. If you genuinely think this is due to "objective criticism," you are wilfully deluding yourself.
This is what you're supporting with this vitriolic hate that is not earned. I don't like the scene, and I have many problems with the writing since season 3, but it is simply not as bad as you are painting it to be.
You are not proving a point about queerbaiting, the show is not even over, for fucks sake. You are, at most, showing to big companies that it's not worth to include queer representation in big shows. For a fandom who likes to talk so much about homophobia from other people and how if homophobes agree with your points than, maybe, they're not good ones, you clearly have a problem in recognition when it's you doing it.
I low-key can't stand when [redacted] stans hate Nancy for not mothering him, it's so gross
somewhere out there is a universe where elmax / byclair are the endgame ships and i yearn to experience that at least once
I miss them btw
