There was something about her…something so familiar…a presence filled the air, but he was just trying to ignore it. He relaxed his stance a little, crossing his arms over his chest.

“I wasn’t-well…yeah…sorry, I wont.” He glanced down as she asked his name. What was he supposed to say? “Cal-” He paused and shook his head. “Kanan…”

Barriss had caught the slip of the boys name but she did not press the matter. It would be a bad idea for her to do that. “Well Kanan it’s nice to meet you. I’m Barriss Offee.” She introduced herself with a small smile. She felt the need to introduce herself to him now that she knew his chosen name. “What are you sneaking around for then? Are you looking for something?” She asked him. SHe was concerned that he would not be safe alone. She felt the urge to keep him safe and make sure that he was not alone. It was always dangerous to be alone in places like this and not too kind.

The General hummed, thinking over the padawan’s idea for a moment. Teamwork, in her eyes, was the most important thing she could teach to any being, but exercising the mind in any mode is essential as well. Barriss’s thoughts granted the best of both worlds. Shaak nodded slowly, a smile beginning to form on her lips, “Excellent idea, Barriss. That way it not only trains the individual mind, but the mind as a whole. Well done.” She praised as she put her datapad away, “Being a Master does not mean I always know best. It’s important to realize when one need help as well.”

Barriss nodded her head to show that she understood what she had been told. She knew that to request help and working together was important. Her sapphire eyes then grew bright as an idea came to her mind. “Would you like me to test the exercise Master?” She asked in a gentle voice. She thought to test the idea would be a good idea to see how difficult the tests would be and if they could be done by younger Padawan learners and those of her own level. It would be interesting that was for sure.

Barriss looked at the Master for a moment before she shifted her weight a little and then thought it over. “I can test the individual option.” She pointed out. She needed to keep her skills sharp while her master was away. She knew that Luminara would be disappointed if she didn’t keep her skills up.

Laughing at her friend’s comment as they boarded the Ghost, Ahsoka looked at Barriss with a grin. “It.. it is, yea.” She replied truthfully, her grin bright. “Rebellion and all, they always try to hinder us and fail.”

Looking to Zeb and Sabine at their words, she nodded gently. “Agreed, let’s head back to base.” She replied to them as Sabine headed for the cockpit to tell Hera where they were headed as the ship took off. Turning back to Barriss as Zeb then wandered off, her grin softened just a little as she looked to Kanan and Ezra. “Kanan, Ezra.. I want you to meet an old friend. This is Barriss Offee, former Padawan to Jedi Master Luminara Unduli.” She spoke, gesturing to Barriss before she looked to her friend. “Barriss, this is Kanan and Ezra. Kanan was a Padawan when everything happened, and Ezra was a Force Sensitive kid that he took on as a Padawan a few months ago.”

At the mention of Luminara Ezra couldn’t help but wince at the memory of what the empire had done to her. “It’s a pleasure to meet the two of you.” Barriss spoke with a soft voice her sapphire eyes scanned the two up and down. The two of them seemed to be a match for one another. “Where are we going?” She asked Ahsoka. She did trust her friend more than anything now. She also wanted to know where she was going to go. “Are you sure we can trust her?” Kanan asked Ahsoka quietly as Barriss looked around the ship.

Barriss had heard the question but was too polite to comment on that. She knew that it was a valid question to ask. she sighed softly as she looked at Ahsoka her sapphire eyes were cautious. “I managed to get this infromation before I found you.” She said handing Ahsoka some plans she had found for Imperial action over the next few months. She looked at Kanan and then let out a small sigh choosing not to say anything. Ezra noticed the lightsaber clipped to Barriss’ belt and his eyes widened at the weapon. “Can you teach me some techniques?” He asked eagerly. Barriss nodded her head at the request. “Not here though. I can explain the forms of battle though.” She spoke.

Barriss was a little aback by the confession. She wasn’t sure how to deal with that if she was honest. She had tried to distance herself from most people but she found it a little harder now. “You shouldn’t be. You know that it can be dangerous.” She spoke with a soft voice. Her sapphire eyes had softened but she was still worried about all this. She took a deep breath not sure what else to say to him. She didn’t want to be hurt and nor did she want to hurt him.

Lie and hide the truth? Or reveal a half truth? To say that he was okay would be a lie, when he knew he wasn’t. He had not been alright for a long time, near a decade by that point in time. “I will be fine Barriss,” he replied in a soft voice. “It has been a long day and I simply sought out some quiet away from the younglings.”

At the comment of the younglings she gave a soft smile. She often spent time taking care of the younglings from time to time. They could get a little rowdy from time to time. However something made her worry somewhat. “Well, some of them are a little rowdy that’s true.” She admitted. Her eyes were fixed on the young master and frowned a little. “Well, most will be in the library. Perhaps you can find peace in your room or elsewhere? It’s not exactly stable here.” She spoke softly. It was careful and kind but some mistrust was faintly there.

Mabel finally caught up to Waddles, but he wasn’t a l o n e. Following behind him was a strange looking person. It wasn’t until she was facing her that she noticed the unusual color of her skin. It was Green? That was something new. “Uh… hello.” She was a little weird-ed out, until she saw that Waddles seemed to really like her. He was an excellent judge of character; so if he trusted her than she would too. “I’m Mabel, and it looks like you’ve already met Waddles. You must’ve gotten lost, I’ve gotten lost in these woods millions of times. You are a short way from the Mystery Shack.”

Barriss heard the voice and then smiled at the young girl. She seemed sweet enough that was for sure. “It’s nice to meet you Mabel.” She said kindly. Her eyes fell on the pig who was nosing about the floor as if he would find a treat there. When she considered where she was she sighed. She did not know what the Mystery Shack was but she supposed it was a good place to start. “Well, the Mystery Shack seems like the place to go.” She spoke lightly. Her eyes scanned around her. The sense of this place was strange but it wasn’t unpleasant. It seemed nice enough. “Is there a city nearby?” She asked curiously. She hoped to be able to get back home as she knew she couldn’t leave her master alone for too long. They had a lot of work to do.

The Zabrak regarded the small Mirialan woman with disdain and when he spotted the lightsaber clipped to her belt, his expression grew dark with a scowl.

"Who are you?“ He reflected the question right back at her, keeping his hand near his own lightsaber as a precautionary measure. Though he heard confidence in her voice, he could sense the unease that shook her nerves and it made the nuances of a grin tug at the corners of his lips. Savage expected the woman to be Jedi and observed her size, calculating the outcome of a potential duel.

"My business here is not yours to know.”

Barriss looked at him and then frowned at what he had said. She supposed that she would have to do something. There was a sense of danger about this Zabrak. She was ready to fight if she had to. She wasn’t sure if she would admit who and what she was. It was a big risk that was for sure. “I’m Barriss Offee. I’m a member of the Jedi Order.” She told him. She wasn’t going to reveal who her master was and what she was set to do. Her sapphire eyes eyed the male with a weariness. She knew it was much taller and well muscled. “You’re business is your own I suppose...” She mused trying to delay any action.

She moved back slightly and looked around her. Her hand was still near her belt so that she could defend herself if she needed to. She would not attack if she needed to. Her eyes scanned the area around her. “Though I would like to know as it’s my duty to protect the people here. How do I know you’re not a threat?” She asked raising her chin to show she wasn’t afraid now. She felt oddly calm for some reason. Why she didn’t know but she was glad. It made her feel brave.

Kanan thought he was being quite. He was more just trying to avoid detection than anything. It wasn’t like he’d been sneaking up on her, but more trying to brake in somewhere.

He slowly exited the shadows, putting his hands up to show he wasn’t going to attack. “Hey, sorry…I mean no harm.”

Barriss looked at the young boy and then offered him a thin smile. Something about this boy made her senses tingle. Her sapphire eyes were locked onto him and she then frowned slightly. “I won’t hurt you child. Just don’t sneak up on people. Not a good idea.” She spoke quietly. She had the idea that the young boy was doing something other than sneaking around. “What’s your name?” She asked her voice was quiet but it held a firmness. She would not be crossed with this that was for sure.

“If you wish to, you may. I won’t stop you.” Ahsoka replied, stopping for a second when they neared the spaceport and she saw the troopers. Waiting behind a few boxes, she could faintly see Sabine and Zeb hiding as they noticed her. Within seconds, the troopers were knocked out and the Togruta was moving again.

Laughing a bit at her friend’s question, she nodded gently. “Yea, the two you just saw are Sabine and Zeb. There’s three others and a droid on the ship you’re going to get to meet.” She spoke quietly, practically running so she can catch up to the other two as they all headed for the Ghost.

Barriss felt slightly breathless when she finally got to the ship. Her muscles felt sore and burned. She hadn’t needed to move like that in a long time. Her sapphire eyes glanced at Ahsoka and smiled at her. “Well, we got out of that alright. Is this a common thing?” She asked her brow arching. Her eyes then locked onto the others who were now gathered nearby. She recognised Kanan. He had been a young boy at the time but his signature was the same.

Her eyes then locked onto the young boy. They were both strong with the force but the young boy felt wrong. “What’s the plan now?” Zeb asked his voice was somewhat angry but that was usual. Barriss looked at Ahsoka and then decided she would follow any instruction her friend gave her. “We should move that’s for sure. The bucket heads won’t stay back long.” Sabine spoke. Barriss gave a soft sigh her senses washing over the area it would be fine for the moment.

Barriss was sat at the canteen table watching over some of the younglings as they enjoyed a well earned break. They had been through a gruelling mental exercise and this was their chance to relax. She had agreed to watch them while her Master was busy elsewhere. Her attention was drawn away from the children when she noticed she was not alone any more. She chose not to say anything for the moment instead her sapphire gaze flickered back to the children. She felt it poor manners but she was always so nervous around other Masters. It was a trait she hoped she’d grow out of soon.

Smiling brightly when her friend took her hand, Ahsoka was relieved to hear Barriss say she would come with her. “I.. I don’t know..” She spoke quietly, sadly, at the mention of Obi-Wan. Hearing the troopers veer closer, she was suddenly beginning to move for the spaceport. “My friends I was with, their ship is at the spaceport hidden. If we hurry we can make it without the troopers noticing us.”

At the mention of the troopers being Clones, she quickly shook her head. “No, they’re not.. the Empire practically made them obsolete after what happened. The only one I know of that’s still alive is Rex.. he got his chip taken out, so he wasn’t one that was subordinate in their slaughter.” She spoke quietly, explaining why she knew Rex was still alive and how he was. It had broken her heart to not know if Commander Wolffe still lived, he was Master Plo’s commander after all.. if she could’ve at least known he was alive, maybe.. maybe she could know for sure if Plo was, too, though the Togruta knew she likely wouldn’t like the answer to that question.

Barriss was walking in pace with Ahsoka. Her mind was blazing with many questions but she knew those could wait. It wasn’t as important as getting to a place of safety now. She let out a deep breath her nerves starting to settle. Barriss always felt safer with Ahsoka for some reason. “Well, maybe I can try and search for more information for you?” She asked. She had fine senses and her hacking skills weren’t too bad. She would be able to help and wanted to help. “Are we close yet?” She asked her eyes scanning the area around her. She could sense troopers moving closer and she did not like it.

Barriss took a deep breath and then used the Force to move some of the nearby clutter to slow down the troopers should they come wandering. Her sapphire eyes narrowed as she caught sight of the spaceport. She did not know which ship would be their ship. She would trust Ahsoka with that. However her heart sank as she saw some of the troopers outside. “Damn, they’re persistent. Don’t they ever get bored.” She chided. It was more to herself than anything else. However she was stunned when a Mandalorian girl and a Lasat male knocked them sideways. “Your rebels?” She asked a tone was slightly amused. She could sense the boy and his master now. She felt her heart swell at the feeling. It was good to know that not all Jedi were gone.

“You should not be here.” It was a statement more than a simple accusation. He was shocked that someone would come this far, into a part of the Temple that was rarely used, and where Obi-Wan felt safe to let his guard down every so slightly.

Barriss heard the voice and then looked at Obi-Wan with some surprise. Her face was twisted in a slight confusion but soon smoothed out. “I’m sorry. I had no idea this part of the Temple was restricted.” She spoke with suspicion. Her sapphire eyes then dropped to the floor. She was only a padawan. She really could not question her betters. “I’ll leave you if you wish?” She asked. Her eyes were now raised to Obi-Wan’s face. Concern flashed in her eyes. “Are you all right Master?” She asked respectfully.

“It’s a mental exercise,” Shaak clarified, offering a small smile to the Mirialan, “A series of three rooms, each with only a small item in it to aide their escape. I’m wondering just how plausible it is to place only one candidate at a time in the room, or if I should allow three minds in there at once…” The General trailed off, biting at the end of one stylus in her hand, “You have one of the quicker minds of the padawans here in the temple, perhaps you have some insight on this?”

Barriss heard what Shaak had said and felt a little heat rush to her cheeks as she told she had sharp mind. Thankfully she got this under control as she gave the problem some thought. “It does seem plausible for one as it would sharpen their wits but if three learners are in there...” She paused her mind working on the problem. She then smiled brightly as it came to her. She knew how this would help. “But if three learners are in the exercise it would teach them to work together.” She told her. She knew that it should not be a problem but with the current situation and the darkness she sensed unity was key. They had to work together. “I think that it would be an idea to test them separately first and then as a team making the task more complex.” She then stopped looking slightly abashed. “Of course you would know best Master.” She said with a bow.

Barriss heard the sound of steps and then paused. She had been so careful to make sure she wasn’t followed. It was typical that she would do now. Her hand went to her hip towards were her lightsaber was clipped. “Who are you?” She asked. Her voice was firm. Her sapphire eyes were narrowed as she looked around her. She wasn’t exactly happy she was being followed but she would have to make sure it was stopped and soon.

Barriss had been walking for the past few minutes. The sense of something starting to play at her senses. Her sapphire eyes narrowed and she looked around her for a moment. She took a deep breath and then swallowed nervously. That was when she noticed someone. “Hello?” She called out. Her eyes were narrowed as she tried to figure out who was there.

Hearing the sound of Stormtrooper feet, Ahsoka simply shook her head as she continued to look down to the traitor her friend. “They’ve been searching for me for years and never once have they caught me, I’ll be fine.” She replied, then sighed just a bit. “Come with me, Barriss.. it may take a while for me to finally let go and to possibly forgive and forget, but.. I’m willing to try, for you.” Her voice was soft, gentle, and she held a single hand to her friend.

“There is at least one other Jedi that I know of, and know personally, that is alive… he found a Force Sensitive boy, and is training him to be a Jedi as well. If you come with me, maybe you can meet them.” Her voice gave hope that they could be friends again, that she could help the Mirialan standing in front of her, and maybe even train her in some of the things she’s learned over the years.

“Come with me, please, Barriss..”

Barriss heard the plea her friend made. She could never turn her back on Ahsoka. She took her friends hand. They needed each other and there was no way around that. They needed to work together to make sure the Jedi survived. “I’ll come with you.” She told her friend. A faint smile played at her lips. It was good to be with Ahsoka again. She knew that they had a long way to go before they were trusting of each other and held no anger. “What happened to Master Kenobi? I can still sense his presence...almost.” She spoke softly. They had to move now. Storm Troopers would not be kind.

She would stay with Ahsoka and her rebels. Her breathing was easy as she sensed the troops moving closer. “Where is your ship?” She asked quietly. She did not like what she sensed at all. “They seem to be accompanied by a Force User..not him of course.” She muttered. She then fell silent and began to move slightly. Her sapphire eyes were narrowed. Her attention was now focused on her friend and she let out a deep breath. “The bucket heads aren’t clones are they?” She asked keeping close to Ahsoka. She was a little nervous.

Barriss made sure she was ready to fight if the occasion called for it. The technique would bit a touch rusty but still passable. She wouldn’t let anyone get hurt least of all Ahsoka.
