i know things are hella grim in the nsfw/kink art circles especially in the last year --
but I'm hearing there's a NSFW-friendly ko-fi alternative built on atproto that's actively in the works, and being vetted by lawyers right now. as torrent-princess (OP) says, you should be able to swap out payment processors while keeping your account intact. this matters since even if stripe removes support, you'll still have a shop and all of your links intact. (ATproto is an infrastructure that bsky is built on, but is far bigger than bsky with far more opportunities.)
additionally, the Free Speech Coalition is working on a credit union specifically for adult work (including kink art) - here's the link so you can add your interest & support. Since this will be built by sex workers, there'll be far less risk of being debanked for spurious and puritanical reasons.
on a domain TLD level, there's an initiative here for a .furry domain built from the ground up by seasoned furries; it's unclear whether they'll support NSFW, but it's yet another promising turn of events for a group that's been similarly affected by censorship.
there are friends and allies out there helping to build a working parallel infrastructure. keep being vocal, keep supporting these initiatives when it's possible, and keep supporting your nsfw/kink artists. ♥
we are broadly so fucking bad at being good friends to people who Cannot Leave
there are people who Cannot Leave. hopefully it's not the case for their whole lives but it is the case for them RIGHT NOW. and even trauma and abuse aware communities are shitassfuck bad at knowing how to be a supportive friend to these people and I find it soooo fucking frustrating. it's condescension and scolding and unrealistic standards and victim blaming and minimizing all the way fucking down .
It's so important to educate yourself about why people stay in bad situations and how to help someone who can't leave or goes back. Any sentence starting with "You should just" is bad, but "You should just leave" is one of the worst.
Found this 1860 Victorian in Brunswick, MO on the Spooky Houses site, but I don't think it's that spooky. It's a big house, 4,400sqft, but has 3bds, & only 1ba. Asking $295k.
They say it's spooky, but it's colorful, decorated, very lived-in, and looks loved to me.
Look at the fancy sitting room. Beautiful fireplace.
They've got Victorian furniture, custom draperies, and wallpaper on the walls and ceiling.
And. look at the drawing room, all in blue.
Next is the dining room. This is nice.
Lovely fireplace and a closet turned in to a dish display cabinet.
Nicely updated kitchen has a cute dining alcove.
The back porch is nice and could even make a pretty sunroom.
This den looks like a busy room.
And, here's the one bath. I have to admit that it's a lovely vintage one, though.
The tub is a modern version of a vintage tub.
This would be the main floor guest room, but it's basically used for storage.
It's odd that there's no bath on the 2nd floor.
In the primary bedroom, a large bright room, there's clearly an issue with leaking, by the looks of the ceiling.
Large, pretty, child's room also has ceiling damage.
Same thing in this unused spare bedroom.
There's also a 3rd fl. So, if the staff slept up here, I imagine they had to use chamber pots, b/c the only bath is on the first floor.
There are definitely rooms up here.
Love the grounds. This is cool. A pump and what looks like a well.
And, that looks like a water tower. Also, love the widow's walk on top of the house. For the price, if this was fixed up, it would be incredible. Plus, I would have to add at least one more bath.
Cute little shed.
A big barn. Lots of potential.
And, these 2 structures. Large property is 2.6 acres.
