Hey, Langblr!
So I started making this directory of the availability of different languages in language learning apps/websites. I figured that this would help a lot of us in our never-ending hunt for resources. The objective is to help in determining which apps/sites your target language is available in.
If you’d like to help in adding in languages/resources, the link is right here! Feedback is also much appreciated!

PSA for everyone writing term research papers right now
Mendeley is the greatest program ever
I want to weep with joy every time I use it
Just click a button when you pull up an article and it will automatically save it to your library
And cite it for you
And you can use it on your mobile devices
And it’s free
Just download it and you won’t have so many urges to kill everyone in sight while writing a research paper
Thank you so much!
Guys, I cannot stress how amazing this program is.
You can use it to highlight, write notes, mark up, etc. What I do is I highlight all the important jazz, use the comments to write notes on the document, and on the side bar, I write an annotated bib for it for future me. It save everything you write on it forever for you and you can put the articles in folders and organize it.
But that’s not the best part, the best part is that you can access your articles ANYWHERE. Literally anywhere. Forgot your laptop and at a public library? No worries! You can go to the Mendeley website and ACCESS ALL YOUR ARTICLES WITH YOUR NOTES ONLINE. You don’t even have to download the program to access it! It is a life saver and I suggest everyone in academia use it!
Reblogging because I love Mendeley and you need to have it.
Jan! New Year's update & a bit about me
There's nothing better than a cup of tea in bed. This is my studyblr/lifeblr/whatever, where I try posting non-fitness related stuff about my life, uni life and so on. I'm a first-year PhD student in the UK, I'm bad at doing chores and staying focussed on things that are not my current-special-interest, and not getting super distracted by things that relate to it. In 2017 I really want to get good at doing routines, such as all dishes done before bed, put away all rubbish and laundry right away & regularly check for deadlines. I also need to clean up my code, start commenting more and using Git. In 2016 I managed to start sorting life out better, get my hair/wardrobe/diet sorted out, this year I want to extend that to finances, home and cooking. So far this year I've made a rough dinner plan for January, a specific one for the first two weeks, and done a bulk shop for all the pantry staples we go through quickly, and all non-perishable groceries for the next two weeks. I did it online & got it delivered, so I don't have to waste my precious energy (spoons) grocery shopping. My main goals for Jan is to sort out the kitchen, keep it tidy at all costs*, stick to the dinner plan & do lunches for me & Eric at least three days a week. That's it for now, hope you all had an alright end of the year, and may your new one be all the better. *Not /literally/ at all costs.
Yesterday I did not take my meds, here's how it went:
6:45-7:00 am, alarm rings. Snooze. Repeat. 7:30 am, wake up and remember I need to iron a shirt. Attempt to bribe the fiancé into making breakfast tea so that I'll be awake when I iron his shirt. 8:00 am, drink breakfast tea. Realise I don't have time to iron his shirt before he has to run, promise I'll iron them all tonight. First reminder to take my meds, hit snooze as I hate taking them on an empty stomach. 8:10, second reminder, snooze it and start making breakfast. 8:20, last reminder, remember I was making breakfast, finish making it. 9:15, just finished eating. How the hell did time move so fast?! Hurry off to uni, the bus stop is 3 minutes from our door. 9:36, just missed the bus. Walking instead. 11:20, arrive at uni. Start loading up work, get distracted by a trivial thing I want to get sorted. 12:00, mid day meds alarm. Oh, right, I should take them. But empty stomach, I'll just finish up and grab some lunch. 14:45, oh right, I was going to take meds. 14:50, I need to get a GP appointment. 15:30, shit I need to call the GP. I'm getting zero work done and I don't want to call in the office because there's people and I don't have my calendar on me if I don't have a PC. Fuckit, I'll go home early. 15:50, at the shop. I need bin bags, bread, brie and crumpets. Leave with a pint of b&j, a large chocolate bar, 3 types of cup-of-soup, brie and a loaf of bread. 16:30, arrive home, eat half the pint of ice cream and a quarter of the chocolate. Think about loading up work, end up binge-watching Netflix. 17:10, remember to call my GP and set up an appointment. 18:30, fiancé gets home, I remember I forgot the bin bags. We go to the shop, return with 3 ciders and 3 beers. Remember we forgot to buy bin bags. Oops. 20:00, I cook dinner. 21:00, tea is done, we eat separately as the fiancé is working. 22:00 bedtime. Realise I forgot to buy crumpets. And iron shirts. A whole, long day, the only thing I accomplished was calling the GP. Today I had a quarter of the chocolate with my tea so I could take my meds, have already showered, ironed two shirts, done two dish loads and it's 9:30. Yay.
So my supervisor stops by my cubicle.. As I'm reading webcomics
Yay! Monday! Luckily I did have some cool new stuff to show him, and a few potential points he hadn't considered. Phew! Crisis averted.
Reblog if you ARE a woman in STEM, SUPPORT women in STEM, or ARE STILL BITTER about Rosalind Franklin not getting credit for discovering the structure of DNA and the Nobel prize going to Watson and Crick instead.
Update
My code is working, I've read over half of the papers I was given, my bedroom is tidier than it's been in weeks, I brought lunch from home today and threw on some laundry as soon as I got home. Adulting!
This chart is really helpful for when people who like baking but don’t have an extensive collection of pans.
What do I do with my spare time..?
Stupid question, I know, but I'm energetic enough to not be exhausted, and it's hard to leave work at work. I need to pick up a few things for dinner and then cook, but other than that... It's not like I don't have chores to do, technically, I'm just a bit lost in prioritising them I guess. Same with hobbies and self-care. (What do you even do when you get home from uni? I don't have a PC/laptop at home atm, so games are out of the question)
