basically, i mentally organize the homophobia on spn into five categories based on the emotional impact it has on me:

homophobia that i recognize intellectually as homophobia, but has no emotional impact on me whatsoever

on one level, supernatural is a bad tv show. on another level, it is the best soap opera ever made. on a third, different level, it is an intricate tragicomedy about generational trauma. and on a fourth level, it is a true story in which the characters are real people actively affecting the plot. i could keep going. the media experience of all time.

still think it’s insane that spn accidentally wrote one of the greatest love stories i’ve ever seen and they made it all the way to the final stretch and the finish line was in sight but then they just fucking veered into the bushes and then stayed in the car as it combusted.

There are 2 wolves inside you. One believes Jackles’ point that Dean thought Cas could not feel emotions in the same way that humans can, because he’s an angel, and thus could not reciprocate Dean’s deep romantic love for him, and the other believes that for a long time Dean knew, or at least suspected that Cas had feelings for him/reciprocated, but for X Y Z reasons never acted on it. You are a heller and you’re fucking insane.

my favorite thing about supernatural is how it stumbles upon intresting metaphors on accident?? repeatedly?? sam and dean are named winchester and not harrison because someone with the name actually existed? so now we have main characters named after a gun and that is how they were raised, like weapons. castiel was supposed to be a minor character but the dude somehow became integral to the story and ended up being one of the only beings god couldn't control. supernatural is like some sort of alternate reality where things happen at the whim of some fae god of chaos and it's why the show is so much fun to analyse

Everyone knows that Jensen and by extension dean uses micro expressions to make his performance that much better

And as much as he uses his eyes he uses his mouth so much more

Cas’ death is the only one where his jaw is slack, where he’s not trying to put on a brave face because he can’t.

His eyes of course also show this (they are the only ones that look lost not scared angry or sad but lost) but Jensen/ Dean specifically uses his mouth when Cas is involved (lip wobble in 7x01 anybody??)

Either way this is heart breaking

Dean’s hope died with Cas. That is the face of profound despair, of losing not only someone he cared deeply for but losing a part of himself. It’s heartbreak and hopelessness.
