Have I mentioned I love camp?
I love camp. And I love watching awkward middle schoolers who remind me of awkward middle school me.
This one is dedicated to my good friend Mikka, who helped me realize one of the things I love most about being a camp counselor and Resident Assistant: feeling needed.
.
You're the best, Mikka. I need you.
I wrote this in my journal as a comic idea (literally the words "My room is a pile of junk. I am a pile of junk. Feels like home.) with no description of what I was thinking. Thus, this.
I used runic letters because I don't want any of my greek system friends to get angry. Seriously though, cultural appropriation people.
.
I'm just bitter about parties, because I'd rather be home with my computer.
Do not tell me that I am the only one who has weird thoughts on airplanes. It's all perspective, yo.
Last week I was in DC at the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, and now I am at home. Being in an environment where I was able to discuss these amazing social issues while feeling completely free to be authentically me was incredible, and I already miss it.
Also study the pacing and camera angles of comics you admire (not mine because my camera angles sUCK) and try to employ what you learn in your own comics! Pacing is really important to get humor (or any point, really) across.
YES GOOD IDEA. Good thing I studied film. I need to apply that more into my comics, YAAAAAAAAS.
(Hey go follow Riy she's amazing.)
Really the only advice I have at the beginning is to tag your comics to death so that they'll reach the intended audience and subsequently the intended blogs will reblog them. After that, it's a matter of making the right comic at the right time.
Right on, thanks for your input! :)
(I asked what advice she would give)
GUYS THIS IS SERIOUS FOOD BUSINESS HOW DARE YOU
(The question was: What do you people eat for breakfast)
Look! One of my favorite comic artisty-people that I aspire to be like took a screen shot of my dumb humor.
.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
Over the weekend I went to AAUW and NASPA's NCCWSL, (I know, a lot of letters. Lemme spell it all out for you: American Association of University Women, NASPA (they didn't spell out their acronym much), and National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.
.
Whew, that's a mouthful! Anyways, it was hosted at University of Maryland, and they had this AMAZING campaign going around about inclusive language, so I took a picture and had to share.
.
I am a little confused as to why there are two for LGBTQ and only one for the other issues, I can think of multiple micro aggressions for each issue.
Hey y'all, I just messed up my theme for the entirety of MissAssventures, so it'll take me a minute to fix it. Sorry bout that. This is what I get for trying to add a Facebook share option lol
This is especially dear to my heart. Parents could love you unconditionally on most fronts, raise you to not hate, praise your triumphs, and protect you, but in the end deny your overall identity.
Almost seems like the dad in the end panel he is a whole different person.
Another semi-meta comic. I kinda like them, it's like I'm acting out what's going on in my mind... with me in comic form as the star...?
Yes folks. It is a meta comic.
Just a little dialogue between me and, well, comic me.
I had a headache last night and decided to doodle about it, some of these are about the headache, some are me trying to actually draw realistically, and some I don't even know.
