I think people should be allowed to criticize Gooseworx for her past racism without being accused of being transphobic.
Jobby is a lolicon. Jobby support shadman, a self-admitted pedophile. They took a song about a father's love for his infant daughter, changed the meaning to make it about a 22 years old misogynist and had a pedophiles supporter who draw sexualized little girls sing it. It's a song about loving your daughter and they made a straight male pedophile sing it. It's a song about finding joy and happiness in a marginalized community and they made an anti black edgelord sing it. They took every opportunity to deface this song within plausible deniability. They butchered a song by a black man and released the episode on juneteenth. They mocked police brutality towards pocs in their advertisements.
The reach tadc has is insane. This song is largely known for the version covered by jobby and recontextualized to honor an adult misogynistic queerphobic character. You should be disgusted. This should should be your wake up call. If you still give glitch and goose the benefit of the doubt, you're either in denial or you're okay with giving this song's legacy to racist pedophiles.
First image was me finding out about it via Insta. Second image is me confirming it from the store itself.
I can't even say anything anymore what the fuck
oh.
thats...thats a police brutality joke...
on a glitch site...
genuinely what the fuck is wrong with goose
police brutality should NOT be watered down.
To be fair, Goose has no say in the merch, this is fully their fault, not hers.
...To be unfair she's downplayed police brutality before so that's probably why she doesn't care about her favorite character being portrayed like this.
So idk if this is that big a deal in comparison to the other stuff she's done (genuinely) so feel free to use your own judgement and ignore if you don't care, but in terms of old Gooseworx tweets, I feel like this one where she tries to appeal to centralism is kinda telling for who she is as a person? (I don't 100% understand what the other person is saying either though) https://nitter.net/GooseworxMusic/status/1346988531785232385#m
Considering her response to someone mentioning police brutality it uh. Kinda is a big deal lmao. What the hell
Don't show the user don't show the user don't show the user don't--
HAHA ANYWAYS. People like OP need to learn that just because a character deserves sympathy doesn't make them well-written, or exempt from criticism.
Besides, the amount of time shown for why this girl deserves to be excused (because, in spite of OP's wording, she basically is) could've easily been spent on getting to know everyone else, seeing their reactions to not being real, learning more about the ACTUAL PROTAGONIST. We still know next to NOTHING about Pomni as a person-- in fact, she's probably the character we know the least about, down at around Zooble's level, who is distinctly not a main character in the slightest.
No one thinks the show is transphobic. Many people think the show is misogynistic considering how 3/4 of the women are treated, and I understand those who think Jax is bad representation, but no one's calling the show transphobic for this.
Idk. People need to stop putting Jax on this weird pedestal compared to the other human characters. Just because Goose thinks that Jax is the only one that matters and that depicting an abusive trans woman is important doesn't mean that you have to.
I'm not bodily transfem, and I'm genderfluid (plus someone in a system) so I only count as such sometimes. So if you really think only a transfem can discuss Jax's character, then feel free to get off this post.
But it's not wrong to wish that a better character was transfem, it's not wrong to wish she got redeemed, it's not wrong to wish she was confirmed transfem proper in any capacity. It's not wrong for a transfem person to dislike Jax. It's not wrong for people to (non-transmisogynistically) dislike women like her, either.
A person like Jax deserves sympathy, but they are not owed sympathy from people who have every right to dislike them. And, in real life, a person like her is usually not going to get much sympathy from someone until they start healing and fixing themselves properly, which Jax distinctly never does, at least not in the circus (albeit Jax and Leeroy might as well be different characters).
A person like that shouldn't just get to stand around and wait for someone hyperempathetic to fix them like Jax does with Pomni. That either doesn't work at all or leads to an abusive relationship/friendship/etc. They need to stop being an ass and work on themselves.
Maybe Jax really did do all those things because she was transfem. But that doesn't mean estrogen is the only thing that would've changed her behavior.
This makes me shake with rage 😃
shoutout to @kyubey123 because they're 100% right on the fact that the villain from Coco does the exact same thing as what Goose did with the Stevie Wonder song [original post]
in Coco, Hector is a musician and song writer and he writes a song for his daughter. in the song, he asks his daughter to remember him while he's away and reassuring her that he's always with her, even if they're apart. the song is meant to be sang "simply, tenderly", as stated on the music sheet that Hector made. i can't watch the end scene in Coco without crying because the song is just that beautiful [Hector's version]
in the movie, Ernesto de la Cruz kills Hector and steals his songs due to his own greed. he turns the song into an upbeat, flashy performance, the meaning twisted into a romantic love song where Ernesto is saying goodbye to a lover [Ernesto's version]
what started out as a slow, sentimental song about love for a daughter was turned into something that lost complete meaning. now if we compare that to Stevie Wonder's song, Isn't She Lovely, and what Goose did with it, we see that the comparisons are strikingly similar
the funniest part is that this happens in Coco and is obviously meant to be a very very bad thing he did. not just because he stole the song, but also the song's original meaning. which, when you pour your love and soul out into a song, that's a really fucked up thing to do... which is also what Stevie Wonder did, considering he writes most of his own songs
so i do not want to hear it from any tadc fans about this shit!!! listen to black voices. hear them when they tell you that it's a fucked up thing for Goose to have done, especially with her past, the show's past and Glitch's past of being racist
There's something about that song that makes you want to get up and bust a motherfucking move
i wonder if tadc fans know that when they use that cover of isnt she lovely theyre both using something made by a l*licon AND being racist
Gooseworx taking a black man's song and having a pedophile who is friends with shadman sing it is just....wow. I never wont be baffled by it
"Isn't She Lovely" is very explicitly a song about Black joy, specifically the joy of Black parenthood. Stevie Wonder's first daughter, whose birth the song is about, is named Aisha, which means "life" and "prosperity". If you need the evidence any clearer, the opening of the song features a newborn's cries, and in the extended version there's a long instrumental section over audio of Stevie giving Aisha a bath.
It doesn't surprise me that "Isn't She Lovely" was used as a coming-out allegory— transitioning can definitely feel like a sort of rebirth— but it saddens me that it was at the expense of the song's Black core. Considering Goose and her track record, this was likely a fully conscious decision and not simply an ignorant misstep.
I’m not “media illiterate” for wanting important character development to be shown on screen, whether verbally or visually.
I’m not “media illiterate” for wanting the lore that was introduced to be actually developed, regardless of the fact that the show is “character-based.”
I’m not “media illiterate” for wanting more than ONE character of the cast to be focused on.
I’m not “media illiterate” for calling out wasted potential
"isn’t she lovely..?" NO, NO SHE’S FUCKING NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP..!!!!!!!!!
Jax killing herself is punishment for her self isolation, not her bullying. She didn't kill herself because she felt guilt for bullying or because people stopped talking to her after her constantly being a dick (though they should've)— she killed herself and it was entirely her own fault
As much as I like Ragapom as a ship their in-canon relationship feels very hot and cold, for a majority of the show It is Ragatha initiating their interactions and following her around, but by the end of the show all a sudden they are the bestest of friends? It is only because Jax is out of the picture and not an option anymore for Pomni.
It is kinda funny how Pomni would rather firstly befriend the guy who she knows is horrible to everyone and routinely harasses and abuses the women in the circus, over the person who had put in the extra step into helping her feel more welcomed and comfortable from the moment she came here, the reason being he is more “real” than Ragatha when he is in fact the most fake ass fucker in the entire circus.
The show wants you to believe they have this deep and meaningful relationship when the Integral conflict between them is solved OFF SCREEN in favour of Jax having more screen time, this show suffers so much from favouritism it’s insane.
Pomnis dumb as fuck if I watched jax bully his closest friends to death and have fantasies about my friends dying so he could torment their partner about it even abstraction wouldn't save him from my wrath. Oh I can fix you alright motherfucker
Well... Yes
The mistake in the color of the pilot Pomni's gloves was made on purpose.
