Since you made an ask-me-anything for your Star Wars fan-fics and fan characters, I decided to ask about The Pea-Pod Squad 😁.
How did you come up with the name Pea-Pod Squad for your fandom characters? Is it because they are close to each other like peas in a pod?
I noticed in your artwork, "Strawberry Pancakes", Rinni uses telekinesis to move the strawberries, which is cool btw. Does her species have other powers/abilities besides telekinesis? Is she the only one who uses telekinetics?
What are The Pea-Pod Squad's favorite activities that they enjoy doing together as a family?
Does "Buir" mean daddy/papa/father in Rinni's Theelin language? I asked because I noticed Rinni calls Tenner "daddy" and Chops "papa". I was wondering if she's calling Flare "papa" or another familial title in her native language.
Thank you so much for the ask, dear Reverie! I know from our conversations that you're kind of on the fringes of the Star Wars fandom, so I do have to note, #2 and #4 of your questions aren't ideas I myself came up with, they're from the canon we mostly see explored in the prequels era.
1. Yes, the Peapod Squad got their little nickname early on in life, when the other clones noted the three of them were always together, true "peas in a pod!" Though later in life, when they (like many clones in my universe) put on quite a bit of weight post-war, sometimes they joke that they also LOOK like three round peas in a pod, when sitting next to each other. *giggle* 🤭 But yeah, they got their squad name way before that!
2. Rinni doesn't have telekinesis because of her species (Theelin, the same species as the dancer Rystall in Return of the Jedi), but simply because she is a young Jedi. All Jedi are gifted telekinetic powers by the Force. As far as I know, Theelin don't have any special species-related powers, though they are known for being good artists and performers.
3. Hmm, lots of things! Tenner likes to cloud-gaze, Flare likes to sing, Chops likes to cook, and Rinni likes to join or listen to all of them do those things. During wartime, they also loved to fly together with their jetpacks (Rinni mostly just using telekinesis to spin around with the clones). Post-war in their new home on Scarif, they now spend a lot of time on the beach, playing in the sand together. But of course, like every clone family in my AU, the number-one thing they most love to do together is get in a big old snuggle-puddle! 🥰 I love imagining that the clones grew up in "puppy piles" in their nurseries, relying on each other for comfort, and that they never outgrow this. Clones (in my AU, and it seems in many other fans' as well) are VERY affectionate, almost as a rule! 💖
4. "Buir" is actually Mando'a! Many fans (including me) imagine that Jango Fett passed on some Mando'a to his clones through their training. Flare is the Peapod who is most enthusiastic about Mandalorian culture, so it was natural Rinni chose that name for him (especially since "Papa" and "Daddy" were already taken by the other two)!
(Interesting side note, "Buir" literally means "Parent," since Mando'a is a largely gender-neutral language. So it means "Mother/Mommy" when addressed to a woman, and "Father/Daddy" when addressed to a man, like the clones.)
Thank you again for the asks!
