I think one of the reasons Declan hated adam and specifically Ronans relationship with Adam (which was very centered around the Barns) is because Declan gave up going away to uni and being a politician or whatever his dream was because he had to look after Ronan and Matthew. And even after he did that Ronan wouldn't accept him and Ronan and Matthew shared magic that Declan never understood and the Barns still didnt feel like home to him. The essence of the Lynches and the Barns inherently excludes Declan. And then theres adam who somehow gets magic, which he shares with Ronan, and then hes just invited and welcomed into the Barns and loved by Ronan despite the fact that hes so dedicated to school and work and intends to leave at the end of the summer. Because Adam sacrificed nothing that Declan did and still got all the parts of Ronan that Declan never did.

Not all these movies are necessarily good, but the ones that gave me small pop culture epiphanies. It made me realize that 30%-40% of the jokes from modern sitcoms are references/parodies- and these movies are their source material.

^^ This is also true for socializing. So many people I thought were naturally funny were just doing movie bits.
