this is not directed towards the gems in this community. nor the others who always followed the rules. this one is for those who didn’t and ruined it for the ones who did. we do not owe them the right to allow their content to stay behind paywalls.

Template to send to EA regarding Paywallers.
Hey y'all! I had an anon ask about this, so I wrote this up real quick for anyone who doesn't have the time or ability to pen a long thing to send to EA about the paywallers. Feel free to change it up as much as you'd like, add even more paywallers (highly recommend this), do whatever you want, let's REPORT REPORT REPORT 💖
How to report:
To report Mods, give us the details right here on EA Help:
Click Contact Us from any page on EA Help.
We recommend logging in to your EA Account.
Select The Sims 4. If needed, use the search bar to find the game.
Select your Platform.
For Topic, select Report concerns or harassment.
For Issue, choose Report website.
From here, you’ll open a webform to let us know more about what happened. Please provide a link to the Mods you think break the rules, and as much detail as you can about why. Your report will be reviewed by our team.
Then you just enter your name/email (which isn't shared with anyone but EA)
Here's my lil template! THIS HAS BEEN CENSORED. In my actual report I listed their full names, and patreon/tumblr pages. I HIGHLY recommend you check out mack3030's anti perma paywall posts. Give EA as MUCH info as you can on this. The more of us that report the better off we'll be. Also i borrowed a little bit of wording from @myshunosun (the distribution and installation part) sorry but it sounded nice and I couldn't think of how else to phrase it.
My Template:
I made the subject "Custom Content in the Sims community- perma paywallers"
"Hello there, my name is ______, and I have been an avid sims fan and consumer for MANY years. It has recently come to my attention that EA has released an official article on the distribution and installation of mods and custom content. It states to reach out if we find any mods that go against the guidelines in this article. As a community, we know of MANY people who permanently lock their custom content behind what we call 'paywalls', which means simmers have NO access to them unless they pay. This is clearly against EA's policies and I would now like to report them to you in the hopes that you will not let this continue any longer. As someone who has already spent hundreds on this game and franchise, I believe it is wrong in so many ways to lock content using EA's intellectual property/program/meshes behind paywalls when it is clearly against your policy. Following is a list of some of the most notorious paywallers in the community.
S*xamcc
currently makes over 10k a month from perma paywalling their custom content. They have removed thier public patron amount due to the backlash they have received. This is unacceptable when EA CLEARLY states that mods are NOT to be sold. This creator will continue to lock all of their content behind paywalls until someone stops them.
Other perma paywallers:
antos*ms, bergd*rf, cowbu*ld, P*xel V*bes
Thank you so much for reading my report and taking what we as a community have been against for so long seriously. I greatly hope that you look at these reports and do something about these creators."
High School Years patch - fixed beds
Hey everyone!
The High School Years patch (unfortunately) broke a lot of things, and that includes all custom content beds. I updated all my separated mattresses to work with the latest patch:
Lottie bedroom mattress
Luna bedroom mattress
Bastvik addon single bed mattress
Riikka bedroom mattress
I updated the files in all archives, and also attached them separately. Download the new files and replace the old ones in your Mods folder. Happy simming!
You are not defective. You are recharging.

Take a Break
Considering the post that’s going around today, I’d like to share a little about myself to illustrate this advice: create margin in your life. I don’t like breaks. I’m terrible at taking them. I carryover a good chunk of my PTO every year. I have serious FOMO (fear of missing out). I like getting things done at the moment I’m thinking about them and not a moment after. Sometimes I wish we didn’t need food because stopping what I’m doing to eat is so freakin’ annoying! And sleep? Why do we need so much? I swear, sometimes I think I want to be more like a sentient droid than human lol. Like many women, I tend to think I am Superwoman, and I can do everything I want and take care of myself later. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
I went back to school in 2010. I had very specific plans for my new degree and did not want to spend the next 5-7 years in school, taking a class or two per term. I had an excellent relationship with my boss, and he agreed to cutting down my schedule to 30 hours so I could still be full time and get my benefits. Most semesters I took 9 hours, which is just one class away from being a full-time student. It was a LOT. On top of living on 75% of my salary, I had little time for much else. I’m not a brainiac, and I need lots of study time. In my first college experience, I did the bare minimum as many of us did. I wanted this time to be different, especially because I was studying something in which I had a legit interest. So, I went to work, left early, went to school, came home, studied/worked on projects, went to bed, rinse, and repeat. I couldn’t afford to get burned out because then I would delay my plan.
What did I do? I created margin. If you don’t know what that means, just think about a piece of paper; I know we don’t use that much anymore lol. Paper usually has holes on the left and a pink line near the holes. The line is called a margin. It marks the place where you should begin writing. It’s a boundary. A line of demarkation that says you may not go past this point. I know myself. If I didn’t place the proper boundaries, I’d be sunk. I have kind of an obsessive personality. When I’m into something, it’s all I do. All I think about. Heh, with the proper interest, I could be really powerful lol. Mix that with the robot mentality and you have a recipe for disaster. I set aside one night a week and called it “no work night.” I was not allowed to do my schoolwork on this night unless I absolutely had to. I did this my entire time at school, and it worked very well. True, it was a very small margin, but I never burned out. As a matter of fact, this worked so well I continued this behavior after graduation and adopted it as a personal policy. I continue it to this day—although I often violate it lol.
My stories are important to me. I am obsessed with them and spend a great deal of time in the game, writing, working on my PS skills, etc. Even though it’s fun, it’s work. There was a time in my sims story life where I got burned out pretty seriously. “You can’t have too much of a good thing” is a completely false statement and leads to trouble. “Everything is good in moderation” is a better statement and the one we should live by in this community.
I’ve said all of this to encourage you to develop your own boundaries whether it’s a “no work night” or something else. We need it! We’re all human and have needs our favorite online communities can never fill. And, when you take breaks, don’t be sorry about it! What I’m about to say may seem indelicate, but please go with it. You are NOT that important, in the grand scheme of things! We love your content, and we’ll miss it while you’re gone. But no one is going to die because you were missing. You will not cause the collapse of this community. Everything will be fine while you’re gone, and when you return things will be even better. Stop being sorry for taking care of yourself, having a life outside of this community, and being human. There’s no need for it! As I said previously, even though we love to consume content and crave it constantly (heck, even demand it), we (as creators) are not here to serve you. No one owes anyone anything around here. We post our stories, cc, mods, videos, look books, whatever because we want to share it with you. And yes, it is VERY tempting to feel a level of obligation to our followers and make sure there they’re not left wanting. But that appetite will always be there because we (as consumers) greedy little rascals who will never be satisfied. 😃 So, take your time. Do what you need to do. Don’t worry about us. You should come first. Because if you don’t take care of you, who will? And ummmmmmm, if you don’t take care of you, who’s gonna finish your story cuz we’re still going to need that pronto. 😜

btw if you live in the midwest (a region where a lot of the states are going to have trigger laws or ban abortion completely it looks like) and if it’s possible that you can leave ur state, get to illinois. Illinois isn’t just a state where abortion is permitted, in illinois abortion is strictly a protected right. illinois’ right to abortion is permanent and isn’t going to be changed anytime soon. in illinois your abortion rights are completely confidential. illinois is one of the easiest states to access abortion in and the process is fairly simple, and it’s going to always be legal to do so even as the right to abortion is overturned in other states. it’s very much a safe haven to anyone who needs to flee their state right now. if anyone can provide any resources and links that would be greatly appreciated.
here is a post detailing how you can get an abortion in chicago.
it’s extremely in depth and shares a lot of very valuable info if coming here is in your best interest.
Just to mention it, as I’m sure others have, as of 6/1/2022 all minors can get an abortion in Illinois without parental consent or parental notification (previously, you had to get a court order to skip the notification). Also, Midwest Access Coalition is a group dedicated to providing funds to those who need to travel here to get an abortion. Please do pass this info on to anyone who may need it.
something like 80% of the chicago abortion fund’s funds were used for people coming in from out of state. that’s not a bad thing at all, it’s necessary medical work. please do come here. we’d love to have you in. everyone else: donate to the chicago abortion fund. https://chicagoabortionfund.salsalabs.org/makeadonation/index.html

Can't believe I'm making another post about Adf*y in 2021 but here we go...
I'm sure you all know the new adf*y page which (i'm pretty sure) adf*y skipper can't skip anymore, the one where it asks to send notifications and won't let you proceed until you let them send notifications.
I accidentally just allowed one of these notifications (not at home and using a janky mouse on a pillow, keeps going crazy), so I immediately headed to my chrome settings to get rid of it.
I'm going through blocking everything before I delete it (just so I feel better about it truly being gone lol) and I see this:
I'm thinking, what the hell is a payment handler and why is it set to allow?? That super doesn't sound good... And after some googling I find yeah, it's probably not great.
So, what's a payment handler? Basically, it's when google saves your payment details to autofill later on when you're making an online purchase. So that includes your credit card, debit card, paypal, ect, details. (Source - askcybersecurity.com) Now these are usually fine on legitimate sites but this site specifically:
You just google 'christianivory.pro' and every result is how to get rid of it because it's malware. (That picture was after I cleared the cookies it had already stored, no idea what they were)
(btw, I wouldn't recommend clicking on any of these since malware/viruses are often hidden behind fake anti-malware ads/programs)
Luckily I don't keep any of my payment details saved so I'm pretty sure I'm fine after deleting it and MalwareBytes or Windows Defender hasn't detected anything. I can't say for sure what it would have done if I hadn't of deleted it, it seems to mostly be notification spam but the fact that it was trying to access my payment methods doesn't sound all that great. Even if having the payment methods allowed doesn't do shit, I've had money stolen from me through an adf*y virus before (source - my tumblr)
Like I said, I'm pretty sure I got lucky because I don't save those things but I'm going to offer a hypothetical situation which could be extremely likely in our community specifically;
Lets say I'm a 14 year old simmer who uses their parents computer to play the sims. I've recently discovered custom content and my favourite creator uses adf*y, but since I'm young and new to the community I have no idea that adf*y can be bad and I trust this creator so they would never link me to anything that could harm my computer... right? So I accept that adf*y notification and don't think anything of it, I get the CC I really like and I'm happy. But that notification I just accepted has saved my parents credit card details. I'm sure you can guess where the rest of this situation goes.
So this is me, creator to creator, telling you need to stop. I know finding a source of income can be awful right now, but your source of income could be coming at the expense of someone else who did not agree to this.
If you think your content is worth a price then I urge you to start a Patreon, Ko-Fi or even a paypal because these are platforms that are safe for both parties and are OPTIONAL. Adf*y is not optional for the downloader.
Stop putting the younger and more susceptible people in our community at risk. As creators it is likely that we gain a larger following so stop taking advantage of that. Especially if you're older or are someone who preaches the safety of our younger members in this space, step up and actually practice what you fucking preach instead of just saying it for likes and reblogs.
I am genuinely sick of this, I've been in this community for over half a goddamn decade now and I've posted before about adf*y, as have dozens of other people and this shit is STILL happening.
I am so close to wiping my old laptop and recording myself going through creators adf*y links and downloading as many malicious things as I can JUST to prove to people that adf*y is not safe. And no, I wouldn't blur out blog names, I would specifically be calling people out on their shit. This isn't just petty simblr drama, this can actually affect peoples lives.
TL:DR;
It's Adf*y?? We all know it's bad, stop using it for the sake of our community members!?? I'm gonna start calling people out for pretty soon?? STOP PISSING WHERE YOU EAT
how to remove notifications on chrome:
Checking/removing payment methods on chrome:
I'm sure there are some of you who will take issue with my post for whatever reason so:
1. Don't comment saying that we should just keep downloading however many adfl*y skippers or avoidant addons or be careful about what we click, that is not the point of this post. We shouldn't HAVE to do that just to get cc, and new/young community members DON'T KNOW THIS.
2. SimGuruDrake explicitly saying creators cannot use permanent paywalls
source (sims forums)
video on adf*y (old but still relevant info)
video (this dude basically just speedruns getting malware from link shorteners and the ads on the sites lol)

I'm not sure what simblr's general opinion on this is, but peeking back in after my long hiatus, I have a lot of thoughts...
In my opinion, Patreon killed all of the momentum that ts4 simblr had pre-2020. I think we all know a lot of the bigger issues- permanent paywalls, creators doxxing and bullying, cliqueing up and sharing info- but I mean even besides that. I mean specifically early access, two to three week delays for releasing cc, the version of paywalling that most people (including myself) accepted.
It's good that creators were able to get paid for their work, especially during the pandemic. But I think, unfortunately, it had other effects too. I remember back then, being disappointed at how much was eacc, and that was only like 25% of the cc coming out, and it (almost) always was popular creators with high quality work. But slowly but surely, nearly everyone moved to patreon (which I've noticed has caused a lot of cc to be forever lost once patreons were closed/deleted) and 99% of the time it was early access or even exclusive. Many people started blogs with early access cc from the get-go, without having a presence beforehand, and those blogs seemed to be some of the most focused on blocking anyone that shared their cc. The cc varied in quality- it could be simple mesh edits that were still mostly ea, or recolors, or even just patterns sourced from other sites. It didn't matter what it was, it was just content for money, anything to pad out the month and keep patrons. Creators would do early access and then link the cc through adfly or to TSR or simsdom/simsfinds, one by one, even if it was supposed to be a pack. It wasn't bad enough to call out, but it was purposeful.
CC on tumblr became a business in a way it hadn't before, even with other paysites in sims history. And while some people are happy to donate to creators they like now and again... most people either can't or won't. Many simmers are children, and many simmers are adults with strict budgets, especially during the pandemic. And truth be told... they probably got bored. Because it's all terribly boring. CC shopping isn't fun anymore. It's the briefest serotonin seeing something interesting on your dash and then instantly flying away when you see you'll have to wait almost a month for it. And if it wasn't a creator I really liked, I forgot about it instantly after that... sometimes even if I really liked them. Motivation dropped. People stopped being excited, and stopped playing.
Nowadays, it seems even worse. Because the amount and variety of cc and creators has dropped drastically. I'm shocked to see 2-3 cc posts per day, if that, most of them paywalled. It isn't just cc posts either- used to you couldn't look in the s4cc tag for cc, it would be so crowded with non-cc sims posts, but now it's depressingly easy... and empty. Lookbooks, edits, gameplay, cc, it all seems more sparing. And you don't see the same creativity, the same fun random little items, stuff that was interesting even if it wasn't necessarily perfect. Or wild ideas or cc that would appeal to certain small niches. Because that isn't profitable, is it? When you need to create a certain amount of items per month at a certain quality to keep patrons and therefore income, you have to strategize, for good or for bad. Some people are able to do that, and while good for their business model, it limits what they can create and how much energy they can spend on each item. Some people aren't able to do it, and burn out and leave. Either way, creativity suffers. Enjoyment suffers. Creators leave from the passion being sucked out of their hobby; non-creators leave from frustration and boredom. And you're left with a handful of creators still going by their cc business playbook, month by month. But how long can those few sustain themselves?
It's natural for communities to ebb and flow, or even completely die out, but ts4 simblr had been going strong for years before this overall, even if it was in waves. In the pandemic, it should've flourished the way other many other communities did, especially gaming focused ones. But, it didn't. Instead it slowed down, more people left than the amount coming in, the engagement died down, and it seems like as a whole custom content hasn't advanced at all. Maybe it would've happened anyway, but I honestly think patreon contributed a lot. Also, ts2 and ts3 communities weren't affected in the same way, afaik, which makes me think it was paywalls even more.
Can it be fixed? Maybe. If paywalls weren't as much of a thing anymore- and I don't mean completely gone, but just a fairer ratio- I think it could. But now that it's become a standard, I doubt that will happen. I think most people have moved to other places where they don't have to deal with it, like discord servers, and simblr will continue to lose momentum.
It's good for creators to have the option of getting some income for their work, but I guess I'm just saying... at what cost? Beyond the monetary? If you're not super popular, are you even making enough for the added stress to be worth it? If you are, is this going to be satisfying and maintainable long-term, without burn-out/effects on your mental health? Who will pay for it when the number of players keeps dropping? And will this continue on to the Sims 5 community in the future? I honestly hope not.
