Personality: To those unacquainted with them, they appear to be gloomy and creepy overall, generally unapproachable. However, they are actually quite the sweetheart. They are just lonely and a socially awkward. They’ll emotionally cling to anyone who seems friendly to them, as they desperately want friends.
They are full of anxiety and can't handle conflict well. High stress situations are delt with by running away and hiding before she even thinks of fighting. The same goes with social interactions, she just goes with the flow or stay agreeably quiet to not run any risk of making a person dislike her, a rejection of any kind would completely and utterly destroy her emotionally.
They are a huge romantic and easily fall in love, but it usually results in short-lived crushes that don't go anywhere.
Lore (a run down with as many events as I can remember): Was your average first year at Heartland Academy. Her life has been uneventful, simply coasting through school with good grades but with few friends due to her off putting appearance. She took up dueling in hopes to make some friend when it became a popular pastime after the arrival of Yusho. She's an average duelist so this didn’t end up getting her the friend she wanted but she did develop a close attachment to her deck of Ghostrick monsters. When the Fusion dimension began to invade it was honestly a miracle she has lasted as long as she did. The invasion led to her parents and any theoretical friends she may have had being carded so now she is more-less alone. The only reasonable option in her eyes was to assist The Resistance in any way she can, even if it was only to feel somewhat less alone. She is at least acquainted with Yuto, Shun, Iori (OC), Kaito, and Ruri through The Resistance, probably interacting with Ruri and Iori the most. Nyx’s role in The Resistance is more of a support role— Helping the injured, making food, mending clothes (her favorite task), anything to keep her from the fighting. Unfortunately, fate is never kind to Nyx. The poor girl has regular encounters with an Academia soldier named Emiri (OC) who repeatedly loses to Nyx due to Nyx’s deck being the natural enemy to Emiri’s. Emiri has an obsession with finding and carding Nyx herself for the sake of pride. Nyx is justifiably terrified of Emiri, however too chicken to card her to make the madness stop. So, this scrawny, barely teenage fashion designer who has only won duels by the skin of her teeth, has to live with being hunted by a zealous Fusion soldier who wants to kill her personally.
Ruri, Shun, Iori, and Yuto going missing does not help matter either. The Resistance nearly collapses leading to the hunting by Emiri worsening as hiding places are starting to grow scarce. She is constantly on the run, separated from the rest of The Resistance. Even when the Lancers arrive, she is still running. Nyx’s first encounter with the Lancers results in her running for the hills. The Lancers had been joined by a Fusion deserter by the name of Jazz (OC). Jazz is the twin sibling of Emiri. Nyx, mistaking Jazz for Emiri, preemptively books it. She loses them, running into Kaito (fate smiles upon her for once) and sticks to him for some level of perceived safety. He may have severed his ties with The Resistance to go rouge but he still cares for his fellow XYZians and does want to see them get carded (Don't let him try to tell you otherwise). When the Lancers catch up, she tries to join the duel, but Kaito doesn't let her. He doesn’t want the kid involved. Mid-duel Nyx realizes that these guys definitely aren't Academia and Jazz is definitely not Emiri, however there's no stopping Kaito now that he's started. All that's left to do is hide behind him and wait for the duel to be over. She's not going to look like a deserter in the eyes of Kaito of all people. Once Yuto’s Ace monster comes out and the Shun and Iori duo show up, she tries to plead with Kaito to stop and talk with the Lancers but Kaito, he's a stubborn, very pissed off and now slightly confused guy. He won't listen to anyone, so he fucks off in a Galaxy-Eye's Cipher Dragon ray of light leaving Nyx with the others. She is hardily able to make it back to The Resistance base with the others before passing out. This girl is exhausted. Thankfully, we have Shun, everyone’s big brother, able to carry her back to base. For the first time in weeks Nyx is able to be truly safe and get real rest.
She found some of her first real friends in Yuya and the Lancers, also having the ability to sit down with Shun and other members of The Resistance gave her the opportunity to get to know them more. Though getting her to trust Jazz takes a minute, Nyx has to stop being jump scared by him due to his resemblance to Emiri but eventually will come around. Nyx is finally no longer alone. For a while there's a really dumb gag where she quietly fawns over various Lancers depending on what's funniest in a given scene. Nyx develops childish crushes easily so this a regular occurrence. Allen, Sayaka and Nyx become a trio for a while, resulting in poor Nyx witnessing and sometimes an unwilling participant in everything that happens from Kaito Vs. Shun to the end of the invasion of the XYZ dimension. Including witnessing Jazz and Emiri being reunited and the fistfight that follows. Once we get Emiri to see the errors in her ways via twin-on-twin violence, Emiri becomes very annoying trying to make it up to Nyx and the XYZians. A brand-new kind of torment for Nyx begins as Emiri still won't leave her alone but this time Nyx doesn’t have the threat of death from being in her vicinity anymore.
Nyx will participate in the counterattack on The Academia, going in with Kaito and the Lancers. Nyx has become an honorary member of the Lancers by virtue of Iori thinking she is the best thing since sliced bread (Theres perks to goth girl solidarity, or in Nyx's case, way too much extra responsibility). Iori asks Nyx to keep an eye on Kaito as Iori has to stay behind with Shun to ensure his recovery. She sticks with Kaito as instructed, following him as he goes after Dennis. It totally isn’t because she wants to ditch Emiri— It’s is exactly that. Nyx will be at the confrontation with Dennis on the boat— she does not get to participate, but she is there. Poor Nyx, why does she even bother to follow Kaito he takes all the duels for himself. She does her best to keep up with him though managing to follow him all the way to the tower, but by that time the poor girl is at her limit. She is incapable of following him up the tower (one is only able to run for so long). She waits for him at the bottom, soon watching Kaito get thrown from the tower as Shun, Iori and Edo finally catch up and stop our favorite garlic boy from free falling any further with Shun’s Rise Falcon. Thankfully, she also doesn’t have to follow Shun up the tower to confront Ruri, instead Iori being everyone's big sister carries the exhausted Nyx up the tower (Nyx did not want that but it's what she got. The perks of goth girl solidarity).
There is so much running that happens in The Fusion Dimension, at this point Nyx is regretting not staying with the other Lancers. My girl is whooped from all this running, and it doesn't get any better. Upon learning Ruri is being controlled, Nyx and Kaito are off to find the controller and fix Ruri while Shun and Iori try to get Ruri back the old fashion way, via duel. Poor Nyx, she once again has to keep up with Kaito, down the steps and off to wherever the garlic boy is taking them. As we all know, they do not find the controller, but they do later come across the mangled Shun and Iori who failed to fix Ruri by beating the parasite monster in a duel. They are filled in on the situation, and this time Nyx puts her foot down. She's going to stick with Shun and Iori and do some first aid. Anything but run. Thankfully with Edo now present, someone else can look after Kaito— this also means the can avoid being thrown against a wall when the Yu-boys go all “Hitotsu Ni” and she may live in blissful ignorance for a little while longer.
Then the dimensions begin the fuse and—definitely for worse— Zarc appears. The XYZians(Kaito, Nyx, Shun, and Iori) all manage to meet up again and Iori and Nyx briefly get to duel together to try to at the very least put a dent in Zarc— they cannot, like everyone else before and after them. The madness only ends when the dimension fusion is reversed and everything reverts. Nyx is back with Iori, Shun, and Kaito in The XYZ Dimension, all of which are pretty damn confused. Nyx gets stuck in XYZ from here on out working on rebuilding the dimension, after all that running in Fusion she just wants to stay put for a while.
Post-Anime: She found true friends. Nyx is a regular at Iori’s record shop, often spending time there designing new outfits with some input from Iori here and there (goth girls unite). Allen and Sayaka hang out with her at the park, and they duel together for fun. When dimension travel becomes a widespread thing, she can visit Yuya and her Lancer friends at The Yusho Duel School. She's living her best life.
Fun Facts:
She loves Cats but has never been allowed Pets by her parents.
She makes all of her own clothes and wants to have a career in fashion design
Her particular style of clothes is called "Gorokawa" which is a type of Harajuku fashion. I also consider it "Gothic" personally (Hence the goth girl bit).
She is an avid reader. Romance is her favorite genre.
Her favorite band is BABYMETAL
My friends on Instagram and I think her voice sounds like Moametal from BABYMETAL. I guess that counts as a voice claim.
She has absolutely no combat skills. Period.
Nyx is one of my few OCs not paired off into any ship and will likely remain that way (unless there is a good pairing I like in the future).
She's living her best life.
