This is nonsense. The far left wing of the Democrats is miniscule. Now let's just assume that they hid their beliefs and didn't change their mind, which we don't currently know. Do you think they hid their beliefs for you, so you can think they're more moderate? They hid their beliefs because of the party. Because the party doesn't allow these things.

The DNC is a center left party. There is very little radical ideology allowed within the party. AOC and Bernie Sanders are both often heavily criticized by the far left for this reason. AOC has moderated a ton over the years. Bernie claims to be a socialist, but doesn't really act like one (plus he refused to call Gaza a genocide).

I'm guessing the only reason Mamdani hasn't lost favor with the far left yet is because we're still in the honeymoon phase. He will work within the party on moderate Democrat goals eventually and he will be cast out like everyone eventually is. The left views liberalism as a fascist ideology and the DNC as a fascist party.

I fucking hate this idea that the left is in any way united. Democrats and Liberals are NOT far left. We are hated by them and the feeling is mutual. Only the foolish among us court that crowd.

part of why I hate landlord companies

I supposedly live in a pet-friendly building.

The other day, there was a notice put up by the landlord company that if you have a dog that "barks too much" you could be evicted for bothering the other tenants.

There was no definition of what "too much" is, and it ignores the fact that you can't control how often a dog barks. Dogs are like toddlers, you can't explain to them that they're not supposed to bark.

If your dog's not allowed to bark, it's not a pet-friendly building.

At our building, we also do this thing where we leave stuff we no longer want but is still good at the counter on the foyer for others to take. Stuff like food, clothes, nonperishable items, etc.

Pretty cool, right? Makes the place feel more like a community, and this way things don't go to waste and people in need get a little help.

Well, there was a sign the other day saying we're not allowed to do that anymore (so far, everyone's ignored that sign, which I find delightful).

It's not like people are leaving stuff there indefinitely and taking up space or blocking the entrance or something; the things are all left on the counter and aren't left to pile up.

It also used to be that bicycles weren't allowed in the balconies or in the alcoves by the ground-level apartments. You could only have bikes in the limited area near the front of the building, which definitely didn't fit all the bikes in the building.

Our building's manager was this stoner guy that you could never get ahold of. He would avoid you at all costs. The only time you'd ever get a response was if something absolutely catastrophic was happening, like water pouring from the ceiling or... well, mostly just that.

It was a smoke free building and the woman in the basement would just chain smoke all day. He ignored this for a long time. Eventually he said he'd give her a warning or something, but it never stopped. Eventually, her ashtray caught fire when she fell asleep and the building burnt down. Everyone lived, but everyone lost everything they owned and I think 3 cats died, although I can't remember the exact number.

SHE WAS HIS MOTHER. We only found out because someone lashed out at him a tiny bit during him messaging all of us to try to rent us another apartment and this lil bitch had to make it about him. Saying some shit like "umm sorry sweaty but this is not a good time for me either, my mother nearly burned to death in that fire".

And, of course, the property management company did their own investigation into the fire. You know, privately. As in, our insurance companies could not access the results. The local firemen told us what the source of the fire was though. The only good thing the company did for us was force us to get insurance.
