No yeah that makes sense like you always have to be prepared

It's fun when the robot character in the sci-fi show gets cut in half because nobody working on this type of media knows anything about robotics and you never know what you're going to find inside. Green printed circuit boards? Meat and viscera, but like in a weird colour? Just a shitload of goo?
I especially like it when the robot appears to have realistic musculature which operates via contraction, suggesting some sort of fluid-driven or shape-memory-based actuation, and then it gets dismembered and a bunch of random gears and sprockets go flying everywhere.
You're a sci-fi robot who just got cut in half by the Big Bad (don't worry, you'll get better). What's inside you?
Printed circuit boards (blinking lights optional)
Gears and sprockets
Endless bundles of wire
Some sort of translucent crystal
Meat and viscera in a weird colour
Random geometric shapes
The cut is mirror-smooth, like I was one solid mass of metal
It looks like... car parts?
I'm actually mostly hollow
Just a shitload of milky goo
Other (specify)

The Angel of Death
FISTS YOU
And then you Die
Context: my teacher translated the verb “to grasp with one’s hand” as “to fist” since that’s kinda what it literally means, but you can’t translate it like that into English because “to fist” means something ENTIRELY different, but she doesn’t know that.
So she was explaining how they use the verb to describe the angel of death taking your soul — he rips your soul out of you with his fist. Now that’s pretty damn metal, but she said word for word “the angel of death fists you, and then you die” which is the single most terrifying and powerful sentence to ever grace my ears
Op i appreciate the context but i was going to rb anyway no questions asked
i predict when tumblr finally does end someday there won't be any warning or fanfare. we'll all just be blogging one day and all of the sudden it'll be like
Lately I've been trying to flesh out more aspects of my headworld, specifically... anatomy. I've always been a biology nerd and studied anatomy to draw animals, but the concept of making up muscles and bones absolutely terrified me. Still, I really wanted to make my critters more plausible, so I decided to give it a shot. Now, after spending over a week straight with my nose buried in anatomy books and having overcomplicated muscle names burned into my retinas, I think I came up with something decent.
My headworld is a sort of alternate earth. Its evolutionary line followed very similar branches(reptiles, mammals, birds, etc), but with twists here and there. A major one being that all vertebrates after fish came from a common hexapodal ancestor.
Although most lost the third limb pair in favor of easier locomotion, some lines still retained them and adapted those limbs to specific functions. In this example, a clade of omnivorous felinid animals adapted for climbing and foraging, using its highly specialized third limb pair to climb as they pick food such as fruits and insects.
Over time their climbing limbs would also be adapted for gliding, which allows the animal to chase after small prey and also make a quick escape from predators. The skin membranes are supported by cartilaginous structures they can fold, similar to a pterosaur's wings.
That's the basic idea of how dragons would come to evolve in my headworld. These animals would gradually adapt their arms further into bat wings and develop powered flight. And for extra context, in this world true dragons are mammalian, while winged reptiles are considered false dragons.
Hope you enjoy my trip into insanity. Now back to my musty cave.
Norn Emissaries - a joke
There is truly something bitterly comedic of how GW rolls out the introduction, in lore, for what are meant to be in-universe terrifying foes. Much like Magnus and Mortarion, who returned only to instantly lose, the Norn Emissaries have the same fate.
Billed as the most dangerous and terrifying new creatures of the Hivefleet, the Nor Emissaries featured prominently in the 10th Edition's roll out lore, as both the key antagonists of the Campaign book for the Fourth Tyrannic War and as the key foes of the tie-in novel Leviathen.
Thus, we have the dramatic first appearance of the Norn Emissaries, these most devastating new evolutions of the Hivemind, which go on to IMMEDIATELY lost all their engagements.
I just can't even help but laugh. The Hivemind creates new super creatures after losing every single Tyrannic War and these creatures are so ineffective that literally the very first time they are deployed, when the Imperium has no understanding of their capabilities at all, they all lose.
I was too busy laughing to take a picture but my son answered the door last night ready for an adventure 😭😭😭
