CHOCOLATE HILLS
The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological formation in Bohol Province, Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name. The Chocolate Hills is a famous tourist attraction of Bohol. They are featured in the provincial flag and seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions in the province. They are in the Philippine Tourism Authority’s list of tourist destinations in the Philippines; they have been declared the country’s third National Geological Monument and proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Located 5,000 feet above sea level, the province of Benguet is home to lush forests, verdant farms and really tall mountain peaks. For instance, there’s Mt. Pulag, the Philippines’ second-highest mountain.
The province stands out for having some of the most popular tourist destinations in the country’s sparsely-populated Cordillera Region. Benguet itself has the highest population among the neighboring provinces, with around 313,800 residents.
Just so you know, several tribes like the Kankana-ey, Ibaloy, and Kalanguya share the area with settlers and migrants from other parts of the country. If you’re a first-time visitor and wish to travel around Benguet, here’s a truly helpful guide.
Masungi Georeserve
Located in Baras, Rizal, the Masungi Georeserve has become a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure-seekers. The reserve is a conservation area and a rustic rock garden which allows visitors to encounter wildlife and different plant species. Guests have a trail to trek and follow in order to get to Masungi’s attractions such as Bayawak, Tatay, Nanay, Ditse Patak at Duyan, and perhaps the most famous one you’ve also seen in pictures, the web-style platform called Sapot. It’s better to book your reservation the earliest you can if you’re planning to visit during a long weekend.
