āDustin, where are we going?ā Will asked him, letting himself be eagerly pulled along. Dustin grinned over his shoulder and pushed through the last door. The music was booming from the inside of the gym. As the door opened, a rush of cold hair smacked the both of them and a shiver ran up Willās spine. With the big heavy coat he had on him, Dustin seemed pretty warm.
āA special and quiet place,ā Dustin told him with a wink and pulled Will up to his side so he wasnāt being dragged along. Willās eyebrows furrowed at his answered and he shrugged, interlocking his fingers with Dustinās. I hope he canāt seem my face, Dustin thought to himself, his entire face flushing.
After a few minutes of walking, they stopped at the walkway to a garden. āIs this the agricultural classās garden?ā Will queried, looking up at him with wide eyes and a smile. āHow were you able to get this? You know how Mrs. Nielsen when it comes to āoutsidersā.ā
āLetās just say that Iām one of her favorite students,ā Dustin bragged with a wide grin.
āI didnāt know that you took agriculture. Not that Iām judging or anything, you just uhā¦never talk about it,ā Will murmured softly and he looked up at him, a curious glint in his eyes.
āI never really talk about it ācause I thought you guys would judge me. I know you wouldnāt because youāre so nice,ā Dustin said to him, staring down at Will with a small smile. His heart was thrumming in his chest and he cleared his throat. āDid you know that thereās a swing here?ā
Will shook his head quickly and tilted his head to the side āI didnāt! Are you gonna take me to it?ā He teased, bringing both of their hands to his side. Dustin nodded and they walked on the concrete path, hand in hand. They both knew how they probably look to a lot of people, but neither one of them cared. Dustin knew that Will was an affectionate guy and he did this to everyone in the party- especially Mike.
āHere we are! Casa deā¦swing,ā Dustin declared as he sat on the swing and Will giggled, sitting beside him. He laid his head against Dustinās chest and slid his hands into the pockets of his other jacket.
āI donāt think thatās how the phrase goes,ā Will told him, still giggling at his misuse of the phrase. Dustin knew that he didnāt say that correctly and he also knew that it wouldāve made him laugh. Itās been awhile since an actual laugh came out of Will- with all of the shit that happened with the shadow monster, it wouldāve be hard to laugh at anything.
They gently swinged together and Dustin wrapped his arm around Will. He snuggled closer to Dustin, curling up against him. Pursing his lips, Will leaned up and kissed Dustin softly on the cheek. He rested his chin on his shoulder, his face flushing to a bright shade of pink. Dustin blushed harder and he licked his lips, looking down at Will.
āIāmā¦Iām sorry. Did you not want that?ā Will asked, his eyes widening and his eyes darting down. Dustin cupped his cheek, stroking his cheekbone with his thumb.
āItāsā¦itās okay, Will. You donāt have to feel uncomfortable with touching me,ā Dustin reassured him and he rubbed his back with his other hand.
āDustin, Iām completely comfortable with touching you. Itās justā¦I like you. As more than a friend,ā Will confessed to him and glanced up at him with a worried glance. āYou probably donāt feel the same way and thatās okay. I donāt want to force anything on you. I just wanted you to know on a happy day.ā
Holy shitā¦I have to be dreaming, Dustin thought to himself, staring down at him with a slack jaw. If his heart was beating fast before, he was pretty sure his heart was going to fly out of his chest. āWillā¦I feel the same way.ā
āYou do?ā
āYeah, why wouldnāt I? Youāre absolutely nice and youāre so talented andā¦God, words canāt describe how amazing you are, Will,ā he admitted to him, holding his hand close to his chest. Willās jaw dropped slightly and he covered his mouth, clearing his throat. He smiled shyly up at him and Dustin reciprocated the smile.
So maybe Dustinās first Snow Ball wasnāt that great- but all of the bullshit that he went through in there ended up being worth it all for him to get to this point. Will telling him that he had a crush on him trumped any of those girls laughing at him. The two of them continued to swing, a blanket of domestic bliss wrapped around them- they couldnāt be anymore happier than they could be right now.
