Jayce: hey where is Sky?
Viktor:
So there’s this artist, Alex Schaefer, who makes a bunch of paintings of Chase Bank burning.
There’s just
so many of these
and I think it’s incredibly funny but
I just read this bit from the artist and
This is a "plein air" painting which means I set up my easel right across the street of this Chase bank in my city and painted it like it had caught fire. The police questioned me on the spot. Three weeks later Homeland Security was knocking on the door to my home. The question they kept asking me was "Do you hate these banks?" I can honestly say yes.
And I just think this is the greatest artist statement I’ve ever read.
Thank you amnesty international, I hope you will make action to write petitions
Because welcome to poland, a country where abortion is illegal even if the fetus is saverely damaged
Poland's Constitutional Tribunal just ruled abortion in case of extreme fetal defects is unconstitutional, almost entirely banning abortion in Poland.
I'm in mourning for all the women (and other folks with uterus) who will have to carry their pregnancies only to give birth to what effectively is a cluster of lifeless cells. Or give birth to children that will not live outside of the womb.
This is just cruel.
Please, take a moment to read this text.
Today I want to share with you something very crucial that happened in my country.
Yesterday (May 15, 2020) in Poland a pro-life (anti-choice) activist Zuzanna Wiewiórka was honored with a medal of justice.
(”Stop hate for life defenders”)
She have been harassing a seventeen years old girl, who wanted to have an abortion due to risk of death. The teenager was seeking help online and she was found by the activist, who stalked, blackmailed and sent her pictures of aborted babies.
Moreover this is not Wiewiórka’s first action like that.
The girl refused changing her mind about abortion, but the activist was unstoppable and got information (most likely illegaly) about her child’s father and her family in order to tell them about young girl’s plans. The family locked her at home and she is apparently struggling with side effects of a failed abortion made with non-medical tools.
Zuzanna Wiewiórka also said that “Blowing up clinics offering abortions is a good way to prevent murder and killing doctors who provide abortions is crucial to stop killing innocent”.
What’s more Zuzanna’s brother Maciej Wiewiórka supports his sister. He said that “Sometimes rape is the only chance for a man to have sex”. I do not even know how to comment that I will leave you with that.
How could someone who technically took away that young girl’s life get a prize for saving a life? How is she called a hero?
I wanted to mention that anti-choice activist try to take advantage of epidemy and lockdown that makes strikes impossible. Their actions do not seem like life saving at all.
I am shaking right now. I cannot even imagine how the poor teenager must be feeling. I definitely do not want to live in a world like that.
Please share! Spread the news, we have to resist this madness.
Poland just made it legal to torture women.
abortion law in Poland was already the strictest in Europe, abortion was allowed in only 3 cases:
if the pregnancy was a result of rape or incest
if the mother's health was at risk
in case of foetal defects.
another problem is that there is something called "conscience clause" among Polish doctors which means that they can deny a patient certain treatment if it's against their conscience or beliefs (yes, it mostly applies to conservative, catholic doctors). some doctors went as far as not telling women about foetal defects until it was too late to terminate pregnancy. what's more, abortion in case of rape happens very rarely, since it's difficult to prove rape in the eyes of Polish law.
in 2019, only 1100 legal abortions took place in Poland, a country populated by 38 milion people. 98% of these abortions happened because of foetal defects.
on October 22nd 2020, Poland's top court ruled abortion due to foetal defects inconstitional, basically making abortion illegal.
Polish women will be forced to give birth to children with basically no chance to live. they will be tortured physically and mentally. rich women will be able to visit neighbouring countries to have abortion there but there are plenty of women who will have unsafe, illegal abortions, endangering their lives.
there are protests happening all over the country. not for the first time though, we've been protesting abortion ban for few years now. there's a sense of solidarity among us but the truth is, we're afraid.
this is how catholic extremism looks like. Poland is becoming a real-life Gilead and it's fucking terrifying.
While y'all are enjoying human rights, Polish people, Belarusians, Ukrainians, Hungarians can't sleep at night, fear for their lives and for their loved ones, some are dying, some are beaten by the police, some are raped (by the police as well in may cases) and cannot expect justice, some cannot even expect fair trial at all, in general. LGBT people are afraid to hold each other hands in public. Women cannot terminate their pregnancies safely in their own countries. Even workers unions are not working like they should, being merely a way to rob others out of money.
We are suffering. Our mental health is collectively collapsing. Years of therapy and growth turns into nothing.
Don't you fucking dare turning your gaze away from our problems. Don't you dare turning your backs on us.
big mood from poland last night
