it's interesting that out of all the main characters (other than silver) the only one who doesn't have a backstory is miranda. she doesn't get a father or mother or even a maiden name nothing about her childhood or her education... iirc the chronologically earliest miranda story we get is her talking about her feelings upon meeting her future husband. that's kinda crazy. by her own account her life started when she met her husband. i'm using silver logic to assume that that must mean her childhood was Pretty Bad

A lot has already been said about how Teach manages to beat Rodgers during the keelhauling, but what I noticed this rewatch is that Jack Rackham also manages to beat him.

After Teach survives the first go around the ship, Rodgers says "again" quietly, with self assurance. He's disappointed that teach survived one go, but is clearly not surprised, sending a man under the ship a second time is clearly not uncharted territory for him.

And as he orders this he glances around the ship and is caught and pauses when he sees Jack's look.

And what catches him completely off guard is that there is no fear here. Jack has clearly figured out what the plan is, he almost certainly knows he is next, as he keeps almost this exact look when he is taken after Teach is assumed dead.

What this look is , is disgust. Jack Rackham, Pirate Captain and enemy to all mankind, is looking down on Woodes Rodger, because this show of force is so grotesque. Rackham meets Rodger's eyes, doesn't break away, and this is what rattles him.

The next time Rodger's orders "again", he shouts it, because being judged by Rackham is getting to him, and this fear is what makes him shoot Blackbeard after the third go. Blackbeard endures this torture and that is impressive to the point of being awe inspiring yes, but it is Rodger's inability to weather the judgement and disdain of a pirate that makes him lose.

i read a lot of the transcripts (either specifically the episode i'm setting it in or the ones surrounding it) but also i am autistic so i just... know what they sound like at all times i fear. i think i am guilty of making silver sort of ooc in that i make him say fuck a lot when he tends to do that sparingly in the show

a good tip is "what's the most emotionally constipated thing i can say rn" cause u know those guys aren't communicating well

hey. you are supposed to be uncomfortable by louis paying regina to act like claudia. it is creepy and gross. it is also desperate, grief-driven, unhealthy, and sad. AND it makes total sense for a man who built a name for himself by profiting off of women's bodies. louis' actions this season are not out of character, because he has shown us time and time again that women, particularly black women and Claudia specifically, are not people that he fully respects. louis has always treated Claudia like an object, like something that is "his". and if you feel icky or upset by the current storyline, good! that's what it is there for. idk why people are surprised in season three that the show about evil vampires is going to depict them as evil vampires.

...but ummm Armand in the books cut off Claudia's head and tried to sew it onto Madeleine's body. Claudia wanted to be an adult, but not like that. The heavy damage literally left Claudia confused and mentally deranged. Armand panics and to hide what he did, he pushed Claudia and Madeleine out into the deadly morning sun, leading to her final end and turning her to dust.

So yes he has cut off and reattached heads before, yes he cut off Nickis hands and left the poor boy to go crazy because playing the violin is all that Nicki had, throwing himself into the fire

Armand played a central, mastermind role in the kangaroo court trial in Paris that condemned Claudia and Madeleine to death, HE DIRECTED THE PLAY.
