Don't have a preferred name, you can call me like my OC, Julia, or you can call me Dancer or Hey You, whatever you prefer! She/her, historian in my 20s. Fluent in both Spanish and English, with some French thrown in there although I'm still learning.

This blog is mainly to share my interests and rambling thoughts, which are mostly but not reduced to Fallout. As a warning, I'm particularly interested in Caesar's Legion, more from a historical and anthropological perspective than because I agree with them, but I still want to be very clear about it because a lot of my posts and fics delve deep into the Legion and I don't want anyone to be surprised.

Other interests of mine you may find here are ASOIAF, POTC, Disco Elysium, Pathologic, languages, literature, vintage films and history. From time to time I'll get political too, expect the occasional anti-imperialist, anti-colonial, marxist post.

Cueta, Spain was a war-zone last night! Yesterday's Islamic horde invasion was day 1.

Today they've started looting every store in the city.

If this doesn't make you support re-migration, I don't know what will.

America, in November, we have two simple choices:

1 - Cast votes to allow this invasion back to America soil again like it happened under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

2 - Cast votes to keep this invasion from touching American soil.

Not going to sugar coat it. This repugnant scum appeared in the socialist tag and as a Spaniard I need to say something about it.

First of all, we cold go on a long history lesson about how Spain, the United Nations, the US and France all failed in securing the safety and independence of Western Sahara in the 70s after Spain began the democratic transition and the abandonment of its former colony. Spain's colonial history, Polisario Front, Moroccan current day expansionism etc. We could go on all that historical background, but better keep the timeline tight.

December of 2020 — The Abraham Accords and the improved relations between Israel and Morocco. Trump recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. The UN considers the aforementioned Polisario Front to be the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people and maintains that the Sahrawis have a right to self-determination, but in practice Morocco controls the territory. Algeria, Morocco's rival and the main supporter of Sahrawi independence, condemns this deal.

March of 2022 — In an attempt to improve the relationships between both countries and after decades of endorsing the UN resolution, Spain supports Morocco's claim on Western Sahara. Diplomatic and trading relationships between Spain and Algeria are broken.

May of 2024 — Spain recognizes the State of Palestine. Start of the diplomatic tensions between Israel and Spain.

February of 2026 — The US and Israel strike Iran. Spain doesn't allow the US to use the Rota and Morón military bases. Spain's PM Pedro Sánchez calls the strikes "unjustified and dangerous." Beginning of the diplomatic tensions between the US and Spain

March 3, 2026 — The trade war between Spain and the US begins. Trump publicly condemns Spain as a bad ally.

March 4, 2026 — The Spanish government answers to this with: "We will not be vassals."

March 30, 2026 — Spain bars US military aircraft involved in the Iran war from its airspace.

July 8, 2026 — NATO summit in Ankara. The trade and diplomatic tensions between the US and Spain keep rising.

July 20, 2026 — Pedro Sánchez is in Algeria for the first time in four years. They announce deeper cooperation in energy, trade, and security. Algeria is Spain's biggest gas supplier as of 2026 — and as mentioned, Morocco's biggest geopolitical rival.

July 26, 2026 — Trump posts a screenshot that reads: "President Donald J. Trump Highway" — 1,055km through occupied Western Sahara. Thanks "Highly Respected Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco." Morocco never officially confirms the naming. The only source is Trump himself.

Then the incident at Ceuta happened.

And now we have fucking alt-right morons from the other side of the Atlantic trying to use Spain, a country your pedo president has been antagonizing throughout all this years, as a propaganda tool. It's never understanding history and geopolitics, it's never analyzing the relationships between Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Israel and the US.

No. It's "look at how socialists allow brown people and Muslims to pillage your country". Also, today they didn't start anything because they're already back to Morocco and almost 100 human beings have died in this abominable display of utter indifference towards human life. Ultimately people have been used by the Moroccan government as a disposable tool and they've also been failed by the Spanish and European governments. But no one will mourn or remember those people.

The US should be the country who stops doing invasions, and on top of all they have the nerve to play the victim card. Solidarity and love towards the masses of Morocco, Western Sahara and yes, the US too.

The more I think about it the more I feel like there's a collective misunderstanding of Caesar as a character. Not as a person, but as a character. Ultimately I believe that his interest in the Hegelian framing of history comes from a desire to solve Hegel's dialectics, and reach an alternative attempt at achieving the end of history proposed by Francis Fukuyama.

History, according to Hegel, is not random human actions succeeding one after the other through time, but the self-resolution of the Geist. In Hegelian philosophy, the Weltgeist (spirit of the world that guides human history on a broader, universal sense) is influenced by the Volksgeist (the spirit of a nation or a group of people) and by certain individuals in history, and I think Caesar saw both the Legion and the NCR as the Volksgeist of his time, as well as seeing himself as one of those few men able to effectively affect and influence the Weltgeist. While Caesar clearly opposes the liberal ideas of Fukuyama, I believe he also wanted to achieve the end of history through his own means, the resolution of history in a Hegelian sense. To reach the ultimately clash of contradictions that will conclude in a definitive answer.

I mean, he is wrong in the conclusions he reaches, but I think this is the mental framework under which Caesar developed the Legion. And I don't think he's wrong because he's stupider than a molerat or a shortsighted narcissist, but because of a fundamental misunderstanding of history a posteriori. He doesn't understand the present as the result of the past in a dynamic way, but the past as a series of questions that may or may not be resolved at some point in the present. Caesar cried out at the Ancient world in search for answers to the material problems of the present, yelled his ideas at the Roman Forum without realising the forum echoes back what you shout into it.

He forces a struggle to happen between what he believes is the thesis (NCR) and antithesis (The Legion), while being blinded at the reality that those struggles and contradictions already exist within the Legion. I believe it would be more tragic and thought provoking if the Legion collapsed after his death because he failed to understand the inner dialectics of his own empire.

I watched Abismos de pasión (1954) by Luis Buñuel, and besides being the best screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights for me, I discovered Ernesto Alonso as a potential face claim for Mister House.

Probably the most obvious and logical thing to headcanon as the artistic style and tendencies of the Legion would be some form of neoclassicism with that scrappy feeling of the post-apocalypse, but I feel like some dashes of futurism would make it more interesting. Classical futurism? Imagine stumbling into a continuous profile of Caesar, or some wild futurism-like portrait of Lanius, all sharp lines and insane perspectives.

Tertius Viriathus. Named Tertius because he was the third in line that day, and Viriathus because it sounded cool (to him and to me too). The type of man to say "if it's round it's mine" when a denarii falls on the ground. The lucky shades belong to him.

ED-E - Your robotic companion emits a series of beeps as he orbits around Arcade as you two walk side by side. The bright Mojave sun reflects on his metallic surface, like a dwarf star moving through the cosmos, the little machine unfazed by the heat that makes you and your doctor companion to break sweat.

INTERFACING - ED-E is trying to communicate something, listen to him. It kind of sounds like a question.

ARCADE - By your side the doctor clears his throat, eyeing the eyebot with a mixture of contempt and annoyance. *He looks twitchy, have you considered selling him for parts? We could use the money.*

SAVOIR FAIRE - Look at Doctor Charlie Hustle here, but he is right, we could use the money. You can always use more money. The gates of New Vegas won't open for some hobo robot-hugging pansy! 

EMPATHY - Arcade always looks uncomfortable around ED-E. It's not hate, it's not fear either, but something about the eyebot resurfaces certain memories he would prefer to keep safely locked away forever.

INLAND EMPIRE - Even from himself.

INTERFACING [Easy: Success] - The eyebot seems perfectly fine as he buzzes around Arcade in disagreement.

YOU - *ED-E looks good to me.* The eyebot beeps in a high pitched tone, almost cheerful, then orbits around Arcade once more. *In fact, I think he wants to ask you something.*

ED-E - First he plays a jingle in celebration as he bobs up and down in the air before circling above Arcade a third time. The doctor waves his arms around as if trying to scare a bee, almost falling when he trips on a rock.

ARCADE - *What does he want?* The doctor walks in front of your path as the eyebot keeps floating above him. *Tell him to leave me alone!*

CONCEPTUALIZATION - The three of you make a harmonic planetary system, balanced in perfect gravity, with Arcade about to go supernova any moment now. It can be beautiful.

ED-E - Another beep. Then another as he points first at you and then at the doctor.

INTERFACING [Challenging: Failure] - Whatever ED-E is trying to ask goes beyond my understanding. Perhaps Arcade is right and he's malfunctioning. It won't be too difficult to turn him into scrap metal.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Challenging: Success] - No need to scrap anyone, pussycat, I understand what our floating friend here is trying to ask. Arcade seems conveniently boring, don't you think? Very secretive, and I think it's time to get this cat out of his comforting bag of mysteries. No one can be this boring, not even Arcade Gannon.

VOLITION - I know where this is going. ED-E shouldn't be asking these questions around, and you shouldn't ask them either.

YOU - *ED-E! You rascal, you can't ask people if they are part of the homo-sexual underground!*

VOLITION - What did I just say?

INTERFACING - ED-E beeps in excitement. His radar is as good as new I suppose. Aren't you glad he is not twitchy after all?
