It's actually super unethical to keep a peeve as a pet
When I (M29) was a young boy (M7) my father (M35) took me into the city (X167) to see a marching band (M23, M21, M22, F22, M24, M25, F21, M
He said “Son (M7) when you grow up (F33) would you be — wait what”
after seeing that poll about whether usamericans will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of their country, I have to ask: are they aware they are hosting the football world cup this summer
the 2026 football world cup is being hosted by the usa, mexico and canada

what are people's favorite niche ice cream flavors. mine are superman and blue moon (specifically from the midwest like michigan/indiana/wisconsin), van leeuwen's royal wedding cake, and jeni's wildberry lavender
A request for a small correction on TMBW
As I am always using this fan-run wiki as a resource for set lists, I notice our Woodstock entry included this slight misquote:
>>Most Shocking Stray Catcher: The band Geese. Remarking on the phenomenon of industry plant musical acts, Flansburgh said, “It turns out, you don’t even like Geese!” He said later that Geese were very talented.<<
I could be wrong but I'm think I said "It turns out you don't like Geese" (which might sound worse (!?!) but it was kinda my backward snarky way of poking at how we are all being TOLD that liking Geese was a psy-op by a marketing company and we were all just hypnotized into enjoying them which I elaborated on at the time)
Now I was being sassy expressing it this way, and it may be a distinction that means little to anyone, but to be clear--I love that band and Cameron Winter and I seriously take issue with all of this pearl-clutching about some promotion co. hire on their behalf going wrong. I wish them the best of luck and want to see them become even more successful.
Either way-I just wanted to be on the record as a fan. Brooklyn-based bands gotta stick together.
feeling annoying + annoyed with myself for subpar executive function + going to have a crazy day starting the new job tomorrow waking up super early and I know there's not much I need to do to prepare but I feel unprepared regardless
I Love Boosters such a Flo W. movie
a genre of radical pro-rpf posts seems to be going around that I might describe as "sexual harassment isn't real when it happens to rich people and men"
I get the importance of the transfem community warnings but sometimes I see shit like girls talking other girls out of trying to get their teaching certificates because of the potential for harassment from conservative parents and idk that's very real but also at a certain point we are just doing preemptive hiring discrimination to ourselves
Like on the one hand it is very real that societal transphobia would like to see us all unemployed, forced to do survival sex work. But also that's not the only reality available to us at this point! And sometimes I worry that we are self policing in a way by flooding so many trans girls with this message of "your only options are to get super good at onlyfans or be Raytheon's strongest coder" when like, so many of the women I know are teachers, home care workers, nannies, day care workers, postal workers. Not glamorous, but like, idk the world of lower middle class pink collar jobs is available to us more or less at this point. Other girls have office jobs, some girls have to work food service and retail. But we get to exist in some form besides either NEETs or internet famous porn girls. And obvi hiring discrimination is real, and obvi disability issues come into play for a lot of us that makes a lot of the work I just mentioned inaccessible. I'm not saying things are sweet out there. But there is a world out there where you can live. Maybe not in the exact way you want, maybe not super easily, but you can live.
another thing i’ve been thinking about is when you don’t understand why you are the way you are and you just know you’re naturally different and have to work to be non-different, then you conflate all of your natural impulses into one conception of the “true self,” even though these impulses might come from various different places, such as some from privilege and some from neurotype and some from sexuality and etc. but when you can’t distinguish between their sources and thus crucially the reasons for which these traits are not socially acceptable, then you feel you must either do away with all of them or embrace all of them. and black-or-white thinking can develop
"how did they get away with this" is one of my leeeeast favorite snarky "compliments" people give older media. It would be interesting if it were an actual question, curiosity about a specific censorship body with a specific rule that had to be evaded and bent. But it's never that! It's always boosting the perceived value of something mainstream by posing it as forbidden (by acting like the past had all our exact same taboos except unbreakably strong, and which any reasonable person would have been obeying in advance)!

istTVg is sure a movie to experience when you happen to be an asthmatic named owen
Arrival is a very cool movie but the whole time I was thinking "this could have been a sci-fi magazine short story"
