this is simply a side blog for the fuckass show of hazbin hotel. im @/moltenknife but you can simply refer to me as phloats; i go by gender neutral terms or masculine if you’re feeling funny; i am a normal, functional individual (<- trustworthy statement)

(don’t ask me about the weird red coloring I have going on I don’t know either)

some quick hh facts about me:

my favorite character is unfortunately the fuckass tv (vox) and alastor as a close second. I think vox and alastor are incredibly interesting as characters in addition to being batshit insane which make for a lovely character dynamic (besides them I also love rosie and think lute is cool :))

my favorite ships: radiostatic shout out radiostatic did I mention I love radiosta besides them I also do really enjoy applemedia/staticapple, I think lucifer and vox’s dynamic would be insanely funny

song-wise, I adore vox populi, sera’s confession, stayed gone, and don’t you forget. fight me

I hate this godforsaken show so much yet I can’t get it out of my head let me escape this hellhole godDAMNIT

Alastor and Vox’s relationship has me frothing at the mouth because of just how fascinating the concept is.

you have two men who are absolutely and unequivocally vile, who mercilessly kill for their own personal gain or even just enjoyment, who torture and maim and commit unspeakable acts of cruelty just for their ideals. they're just straight up evil and won't hesitate to express that to everyone around them, and yet. and Yet.

they're found drinking at bars together. they joke and laugh and talk for hours into the night. hell, they dance together when they don't think anyone's watching. one could look at them, these two callous beasts, these supposed unfeeling murderers who have never cared about anyone but themselves, and maybe, just maybe, call them friends. just maybe, say they care for each other, no matter how minutely. and maybe, just maybe! say in whatever fashion, in whatever form, in whatever sick and selfish way possible, they love each other.

because, for all of their supposed cold cruelties, they look at each other as if the other's smile was brighter than the damn sun.

radiostatic is so unbelievably funny to me because it’s mostly commonly referred to as a situationship, yet the thing is when people use the term “situationship” they usually mean two individuals obviously in a relationship but refusing to say the quiet part out loud. here the quiet part is not even being in a romance, its fucking being friends

ANYWAYS been thinkin’ about the choice of making Vox of all characters with entirely wire and metal and detachable parts, and how it’s not only a harrowingly ironic mockery of his death but also a reflection of his inner character. how he reinterprets and remolds himself to be what others want to see. how he is constantly scrambling for the newest trends, for cleaner, fresher, for newer, for brighter. how the more famous he becomes the more he detaches himself from the people around him, how he becomes a martyr for the people rather than a real, tangible being, revered and worshipped, yes, but alienated nonetheless. how his godhood further isolates him, only to be watched from afar as a place of religiosity for a greater, eldritch being, sans real interpersonal emotion. how in his desperate reach for others, he has only put himself on a pedestal above and doomed himself into further isolation. how he discards bits of himself, over and over and over again, just for the chance of another scrap of attention and praise. how he has become more machine than man. been thinkin’ about theseus’ ship. anyways.

fic where vox and alastor get into a physical fight right after the rejection when. fic where vox throws the first punch with tears streaming down his face and alastor has to match it when. fic where vox and alastor are on the floor actively and wildly beating the shit out of each other, swears and yells thrown, while other people in the bar can’t intervene because that’s the radio demon. fic where they both take a step back, chests heaving and hands bloodied and faces painted with far, far too many tears for not-friends, and alastor pauses before storming out of the bar without another word. fic where vox stands there, stares at the space alastor had just been, where the only person who has ever truly understood him had left him, lowers his head, and weeps.

we as a society NEED to start thinking and talking about Vox’s maternal issues more. the constant emphasis on the words “weak” and “failure”? his intentional parallel to Charlie, the queen of family issues who has been actively and desperately trying to prove herself to her absent mother via accolades? his all-consuming tendencies to remold and hide and twist himself into something likeable and digestible for the people around him? his belief that peers cannot truly exist, that life is divided between the weak and the strong and he cannot imagine someone above him? his need to prove himself, to prove that he’s better, stronger, brighter than anyone else might be, and that he is not worthless and to be thrown away? him SPECIFICALLY comparing Charlie to her mother as a way of goading? Hello???

that man has experienced inconceivable verbal abuse and you cannot convince me otherwise

a morbidly funny detail about Alastor is that he was a human cannibal in life, and then when he became a deer sinner he just went “I guess we’re doing this now” and started eating venison

thinking about Vox calling Alastor ‘Al’ casually and off-handedly and Alastor simply not correcting it should be considered hell on earth actually
