Some JinuRumi for the soul AUGGGGGH ✨️
Wanted to put more effort into this but it's my bedtime
what jinu allegedly did in canon for saja boys to become successful:
recruit four demon members and somehow convince them to join his boyband BEFORE getting Gwi-Ma's approval
taught them how to do different, but synchronized poses on cue
watch over and learn the evolution of modern kpop music, culture, fashion, and fandom
song lyricist & choreographer where he wrote (atleast) two singles and planned every move and expression.
made sure some of the choreo was memorable and easy enough to replicate and go trending
design brand collaterals like the soda cans, billboards, train displays, posters, ad videos, light sticks, oh and the logo too
basically a social media manager to create, edit, and schedule their social media posts
plan a photo and video shoot with the saja boys
record a studio version of soda pop and release it on streaming platforms
publicist where he basically booked them to the variety show, created a PR campaign and all to create hype for their first debut show in public to have some audience (the huntrix girls noted that there were more people than usual in the area before the saja boys' first performance)
gave the boys PR training
booked an entire stadium for the midnight concert
did a kpop boyband bootcamp to wrangle four demons into becoming the perfect idol to act, sing and dance
probably did a 1on1 for each saja boy too to create and establish their character
—all so he can forget his shame and memories

Romeo + Juliet (1996) Trivia: Shakespeare described Tybalt swordsmanship as “showy”. To transform this into flamboyant gunplay, John Leguizamo worked with choreographer John ‘Cha Cha’ O'Connell to create a flamenco-inspired style.
This is the new gender John Leguizamo invented that one time in case anyone was curious
Researchers have used Easter Island Moai replicas to show how they might have been “walked” to where they are displayed.

Finally. People need to realize aliens aren’t the answer for everything (when they use it to erase poc civilizations and how smart they were)
(via TumbleOn)
What’s really wild is that the native people literally told the Europeans “they walked” when asked how the statues were moved. The Europeans were like “lol these backwards heathens and their fairy tales guess it’s gonna always be a mystery!”
Maori told Europeans that kiore were native rats and no one believed them until DNA tests proved it
And the Iroquois told Europeans that squirels showed them how to tap maple syrup and no one believed them until they caught it on video
Oral history from various First Nations tribes in the Pacific Northwest contained stories about a massive earthquake/tsunami hitting the coast, but no one listened to them until scientists discovered physical evidence of quakes from the Cascadia fault line.
Roopkund Lake AKA “Skeleton Lake” in the Himalayas in India is eerie because it was discovered with hundreds of skeletal remains and for the life of them researchers couldn’t figure out what it was that killed them. For decades the “mystery” went unsolved.
Until they finally payed closer attention to local songs and legend that all essentially said “Yah the Goddess Nanda Devi got mad and sent huge heave stones down to kill them”. That was consistent with huge contusions found all on their neck and shoulders and the weather patterns of the area, which are prone to huge & inevitably deadly goddamn hailstones. https://www.facebook.com/atlasobscura/videos/10154065247212728/
Literally these legends were past down for over a thousand years and it still took researched 50 to “figure out” the “mystery”. 🙄
Adding to this, the Inuit communities in Nunavut KNEW where both the wrecks of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were literally the entire time but Europeans/white people didn’t even bother consulting them about either ship until like…last year.
“Inuit traditional knowledge was critical to the discovery of both ships, she pointed out, offering the Canadian government a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when Inuit voices are included in the process.
In contrast, the tragic fate of the 129 men on the Franklin expedition hints at the high cost of marginalising those who best know the area and its history.
“If Inuit had been consulted 200 years ago and asked for their traditional knowledge – this is our backyard – those two wrecks would have been found, lives would have been saved. I’m confident of that,” she said. “But they believed their civilization was superior and that was their undoing.”

“Oh yeah, I heard a lot of stories about Terror, the ships, but I guess Parks Canada don’t listen to people,” Kogvik said. “They just ignore Inuit stories about the Terror ship.”
Schimnowski said the crew had also heard stories about people on the land seeing the silhouette of a masted ship at sunset.
“The community knew about this for many, many years. It’s hard for people to stop and actually listen … especially people from the South.”

Indigenous Australians have had stories about giant kangaroos and wombats for thousands of years, and European settlers just kinda assumed they were myths. Cut to more recently when evidence of megafauna was discovered, giant versions of Australian animals that died out 41 000 years ago.
Similarly, scientists have been stumped about how native Palm trees got to a valley in the middle of Australia, and it wasn’t until a few years ago that someone did DNA testing and concluded that seeds had been carried there from the north around 30 000 years ago… aaand someone pointed out that Indigenous people have had stories about gods from the north carrying the seeds to a valley in the central desert.
oh man let me tell you about Indigenous Australian myths - the framework they use (with multi-generational checking that’s unique on the planet, meaning there’s no drifting or mutation of the story, seriously they are hardcore about maintaining integrity) means that we literally have multiple first-hand accounts of life and the ecosystem before the end of the last ice age
it’s literally the oldest accurate oral history of the world.
Now consider this: most people consider the start of recorded history to be with the Sumerians and the Early Dynastic period of the Egyptians. So around 3500 BCE, or five and a half thousand years ago These highly accurate Aboriginal oral histories originate from twenty thousand years ago at least
Ain’t it amazing what white people consider history and what they don’t?
I always said disservice is done to oral traditions and myth when you take them literally. Ancient people were not stupid.

There’s something deeply cursed about eBay listings for used single halves of Best Friends necklaces.
If you buy one of these you are forcibly befriended on the astral plane by whoever has the other half
I still want to play DnD as a hapless Warlock who ends up getting an extradimensional patron by accident and against their will after putting on one half of a gold Best Friends pendant thinking it was just treasure they’d be able to sell. NOPE. THE CONTRACT IS SEALED. YOU AIN’T NEVER HAD A FRIEND LIKE ME.
I imagine the warlock as a real nobody initially—no magic powers, no real prospects, stuck in some dead-end village and resigned to being a minor NPC for the rest of their life. Maybe they’re frustrated because their childhood best friend has moved on to bigger and better things and they feel abandoned and unimportant.
Perhaps they end up taking a job as a maid at the local tavern in the dim hope that they’ll get a few lines in the next time a party passes through. Unfortunately, it’s not the sort of tavern that seems to attract adventurers—it’s too well-lit, too kitsch, and popular mainly with old people who flock to it for Fantasy Bridge Night and Bingo twice a week.
One day, however, a retired adventurer drops by to compete in the annual Fantasy Bridge competition finals (is that a thing? I don’t actually know what Bridge is) and our NPC cleans his room. As a tip, the adventurer reaches into his treasure chest and tosses them a little handful of tacky jewelry and a couple gemstones—explaining that it’s too much trouble to have it all appraised or exchanged for actual currency. Our NPC grumbles silently, but accepts the tip.
As they leave work that evening, they take off their uniform and change into their street clothes, only to realize that they don’t have any pockets. Maybe the treasure clinks or rattles inside their lunchbox and they’re afraid of getting mugged, so they slip some into their shoes, another piece into their bra or the waist of their loincloth, and then slip the necklace on over their head.
Just as the pendant settles over their heart—the metal is warm, why is it so warm?—they get knocked flat on their ass by the sudden manifestation of their New Best Friend, an immensely powerful and socially inept force that is utterly enthusiastic to finally, finally have a BFF, but has little to no understanding of what that actually entails (but is more than happy to improvise).
I imagine the patron being chaotic neutral and very annoying—a little bit Q from Star Trek (with a sprinkling of Luxwanna Troi), a little bit Venom, a little bit Robin Williams Genie, a little bit Om from Small Gods. Altogether too meddling in the warlock’s personal life, emotionally volatile, and a little jealous. The warlock is embarrassed and reluctant to be associated with them, but the pact is for life—the amulet didn’t say “best friends for awhile”, after all. It said “forever”.

I hope one day that Brendan Fraser gets to see this post with several thousand (one day perhaps several hundred thousand?) people who have all banded together, united for one single common purpose: to hope that he is having a nice day.
