I'm curious on how mello and matt in your au must've felt after the Kira case finally ended, especially since Near is the one who technically "arrested" him. (But in my op, mello was the one responsible for mikamis slip up so he won in my book 🙂‍↕️) I can only imagine them just starring at the ceiling in an old, over heated japanese hotel room contemplating what the hell they should do now 💀

Haha yeah probably! :') Though I don't think it hits them right after the case ends but a couple months later.

In my AU I have Mello go to prison for half a year very quickly after the case ended. Basically, he and Matt may leave the Japanese SPK hotel room for the first time in weeks and it's to gather their things form the mafia flat only to find it completely trashed. And then it's off to trials for Mello.

The first real wave of anxiety about the future comes when they're returning to their families after Mello's out of prison.

I think it hits Mello way harder than Matt. He lost more. Even if Los Varanos was *shitty*, the gang gave him structure and stability. A place where he kinda sorta belonged.

the file is so interactable, like the photos of the characters are actually physical ones you can take off the bag or sheet, the sticky note is real, the receipt is actually crumpled up!! (the barcode isnt real tho, or at least my partner checked and couldnt get results). i WISH i was the intern who set all this upppp
